So I suppose as a little update:

I did plan for vampire friendship, but due to the choices and actions of the PCs, vampire man went full evil.

The vampire attempted to kidnap the vampire-friending-player's PC, turned him into a partial vampire without consent, tried to kidnap/kill the rest of the party, and has otherwise made themselves known to be the scum of the earth.

Operation Befriend Vampire has failed. Oh well.

Insert angst about the cleric character being forced against their will to become an unholy abomination who can now no longer practice their faith like before because the very act of approaching churches and interacting with the holy and divine is painful due to their transformation.

Currently making a dnd campaign and I told one of my players there's gonna be a vampire NPC and his PC is AroAce so I'm not worried about potential vampire fucking but he told me he would befriend this vampire. Like it wasn't a goal. It wasn't a promise. It was a threat. There was nothing I could do to make the vampire unfriendable. He SHALL be befriended.

So now I'm replanning my campaign to allow for the possibility of vampire friendship because my player rolled a nat 20 charisma check in real life.

DM-ing really is the art of simultaneously being a power bottom and a service top.
