One of the pioneer and respected architect who found success and a name for herself in the architecture industry. Her visions and design ideas simply mimics nature and landscapes through her unconventional buildings, something the world have never seen. This print was a fun one to make. A simple architectural graphic. Supposedly a quick print.. but I was juggling so much work and personal issues that it got drag to weeks.. Not to proud on that but there are just times where you get too overwhelmed with your work that when you get home you just want to chill and and watch netflix. Its easy to get of rails and let it gets to you. But everytime that happens I have to remaind myself to bounce back real quick and get back to being focus and productive before I become too lethargic and unfocus. In fact, by the time I post this , I should be moving on to my next project. Progress shot of my latest mini reduction print. Taking a little break from the usual portraiture prints to break the monotonous rhythm. Harmonica Man.. This print was done in 2018. Its been a year since I edition this print and the ink still holds up. Rice paper is not the easiest to work with especially if you printed each edition by hand. (the paper has a bit of texture and the surface is not as even as japanese paper). It Needs a little more elbow grease to get the imprints smooth and even. Although same image, handprinting gives each and every prints an individual character. I took couple of this print home to be framed and kept in my bedroom as a personal collection. I made 8 limited prints of various hue. Kinda felt dissapointed that I didn’t make more editions. So here my thoughts... . Should I use different plate for each layer so I can print more whenever I like, or keep it as limited edition of few prints? Hhhmmm. I’m sensing there is a pros and cons to both method.. Any printmakers out there who could help weigh in on this, it’ll much helpful. Thanks . I am pro to reduction print method at the moment. Been using it for long time now, and I’m pretty much used to it. Although i would say it will take up much work (cleaning before carving for the next layer) thus longer time to finish. . Finally... Shirin Neshat prints is complete. #shirinneshat She came out of the final print exactly how I imagined it’ll look. Queenly and sublime . Finishing up the second layer of the print. . It was coincidental when I stumble upon the renowned artist/activist in this print, -Shirin Neshat @shirin__neshat As I was leafing through materials and articles on Women Empowerment, her name came up and what I found is just phenomenal. Her most known works are photographs depicting the glimpse of cultural, religious and political realities that shape the Muslim women worldwide. Her works speaks volume to an audience like me. Her experience shown through her works, resonates the lives of people(women) caught between cultures for herself is an Iranian living in western culture. Her works are powerfully expressive, exploring the role of women in Islamic Society. . Originally from Iran and now residing in New York. I find her works very poetic. . She has demonstrated that the place and power of art in confronting and reflecting on political crisis.
