It was quite the day for Metal, if he were to be honest with himself. Damaged and somewhere unfamiliar, the robotic hedgehog wasn’t sure how to get back to where he was supposed to be — working at Doctor Robotnik’s side. In this case, while he was sure he’d be missed in the meantime, the… Portal? Rift? Something along those lines, whatever it was that had gotten him here seemed to have closed behind him. Rough day.

So, regardless of his damage, he was still searching for a way back. Voiceless, he had no idea how to communicate with the locals of… again, wherever this was, either. Doubtful that it was worth it to try, he continued to wander. And yet… someone seemed to be approaching him?

Oh, great, how was this going to go?

For Iggy, hmm… We have a lot of overlapping interests, but there are things I’m into that you’re just not. I think you would really vibe with Q84 from Hello Charlotte, to start. And I could see you writing a good Blaze the Cat from Sonic, actually. Oh, and I’m pretty sure you’ll never be interested in this but my last recommendation is Cassandra from Tangled the Series.

Unfortunately for Takato, he definitely had not connected the dots until part of the way through their first game. As much as he enjoyed the game, he was relatively mediocre at it, and Juri was clearly good, despite her newness to the game. Right, she’d been taught by Ruki, who lived in a completely different world when it came to this game.

Still, he was having fun, even if he wasn’t doing particularly well.

“Wow… You’re really good at this.” He does, however, say this with a smile.

The card game… in all its intensity, the whirlwind of an experience, as far as Digimon went, he still loved the card game. It was fun for him, always, even when he lost. And… well, he kind of lost a lot. Juri was much newer to the game than him, though. Still, he wouldn’t necessarily go easy on her — that would be disrespectful.

“Okay, yeah, let’s play!” A grin from ear to ear.

Juri may be different from him, but hopefully, they’d both have a good time.

“I mean, I guess so.” It’s kind of flattering to hear it put that way, maybe even especially now that she wasn’t seeking her parents’ approval about it in particular.

Amity smiled gently. “I do know my way around. Here, come this way. I’ll show you a bit.”

“Do you ever… test ‘em out?”

“Labels woulda been helpful, I feel… Unfortunately, I got no idea what’s inside’a those bottles, so I can’t help.” Rue shook their head, letting out a sigh. “Would be easier if we knew who made ‘em, dontcha think?”

Pretty clearly, Rue is just following her around. For some reason.

After everything that had happened, it was kind of hard to just… go back to school. Takato did so, anyway, but it was pretty clear that he was not the same as he was before. He struggled. He felt kind of awful most of the time. If anybody could relate to him, he was sure Juri could. Losing their digimon had kind of thrown them over the edge so to speak.

He was lucky he had friends who knew his pain, he knew that. And one day, maybe most of them would meet again with their digimon. At least his was alive and out there. Hers had been killed. It probably wouldn’t be a good idea to bring it up. But… he knew he wanted to be there with her, at least, as her friend.

“Hey, Juri…” He finally said, leaving all that thinking behind, “We should do something together. Just, like, get out and stuff.”
