Note
Npd (questioning) + bipolar culture is wanting to induce mania on purpose because you’re bored and want all the special attention to be on you. Yaknow.

Please please please I know we all love Friends and Chandler was our favourite character and Matthew always put a smile on our faces and that’s all amazing but can we please please please talk about this:
“I've had a lot of ups and downs in my life. I'm still working through it personally, but the best thing about me is that if an alcoholic or drug addict comes up to me and says, 'Will you help me?' I will always say, 'Yes, I know how to do that. I will do that for you, even if I can't always do it for myself! So I do that, whenever I can. In groups, or one on one.
And I created the Perry House in Malibu, a sober-living facility for men. I also wrote my play The End of Longing, which is a personal message to the world, an exaggerated form of me as a drunk. I had something important to say to people like me, and to people who love people like me.
When I die, I know people will talk about Friends, Friends, Friends. And I'm glad of that, happy l've done some solid work as an actor, as well as given people multiple chances to make fun of my struggles on the world wide web...
but when I die, as far as my so-called accomplishments go, it would be nice if Friends were listed far behind the things I did to try to help other people.
I know it won't happen, but it would be nice.”
- Matthew Langford Perry

nobody with opiate addiction talks about the frequent (and sometimes permanent) nerve damage incurred from nodding out in the middle of doing smth and waking up on the floor hrs later with ur extremities in a position that cuts them off from blood flow (I had a friend need surgery and physical therapy because of this) or the extreme constipation that’s actually probably the single most distressing side effect (and deterrent), not to mention the truly scary shit that comes with using needles (beyond the mantra of “sharing needles is bad because aids”). it’s all “this will ruin ur life cuz its sooooooooo good” and “but the withdrawals!!!” like whatever lol. if u wanna deter ppl from using opioids show them pics of what abscesses from needle use look like. teach them what happens when u don’t shit for 2 weeks and have a bowel obstruction from fecal impaction. ask them if they think having feeling and motility in their arms or legs is important to them.

If you have friends or loved ones on opiates or even if you don’t and just care about addicts in general, please carry narcan!!! Preferably on your person as well as in your car if that applies. You can get narcan along with fentanyl test strips (to test your/ your loved ones’ pills if needed) online for free. I HIGHLY recommend doing this asap, especially if you’re somebody who is actively taking these substances or somebody close to someone who is.
As I said, it is important for even people who aren’t on these substances to carry narcan just in case. It’s free and could save lives, there is simply no reason not to.

in light of a friend who passed away on tuesday
my friends struggling with addiction - if you have any amount of clean time, and you relapse, please know your body cannot handle the same dosages you took before you got clean. it’s very common for addicts to pass away after gaining a stretch of clean time because they misjudge how much their body can tolerate during a relapse.
relapse is a normal part of the struggle with addiction. it happens. just please make sure you’re working your way back into using with smaller dosages. your tolerance will not be the same as when you stopped using.
anyway stay safe out there. love y’all.

What Are Opioids, and Why Are They Dangerous?
Tumblr media
Opioids are a class of drugs that include prescription painkillers like oxycodone, hydrocodone, and fentanyl, as well as illegal drugs like heroin. They are highly effective in relieving pain but also carry significant risks.
Opioids bind to opioid receptors in the brain and body, blocking pain signals and producing a sense of euphoria. However, they also depress the central nervous system, leading to slowed breathing, sedation, and potential overdose.
Opioid misuse can quickly lead to dependence and addiction, as the body develops tolerance and requires higher doses to achieve the same effects. Overdosing on opioids can be fatal, suppressing respiration to the point of respiratory failure.
Opioid addiction can have devastating consequences on individuals, families, and communities, making it crucial to seek professional help and comprehensive treatment for opioid use disorders. Legacy Healing Center in Cincinnati, OH, is here to help.
