My relationship with the ice has been very much on and off.
“Uhm I can’t afford it.”
But it’s been a little more than two years, and I can honestly say I’m still in love. And finally, after a year of hiatus on training, I’m going back! I’m still on waltz jumps and two foot spins but who cares? I still have all the time in the world anyway. Okay fine I know I’m old but it’s not like I’m aiming for the Olympics or even Nationals. I just want to skate! :P
“Cause when my blades touch the ice... wow.”
Yup I quoted Ice Princess and Go Figure. I spend most of my free time nowadays watching skating films because I didn’t dare watch or search anything skating-related for the last six months. And I just missed it. Thank you, sprain. But it’s all healed now and I’ve been skating (for fun) every week for the past month. Can’t wait to train again!! Hope I get a nice new coach. (My previous coach transferred to another rink.) So happy to be back on the ice. :)

How long were you TOTALLY off of the initial injury (crutches)?
Around 3 months I think. But I hurt it twice during those three months (as in like the initial pain went back) I don’t know if that counts....

So I sprained my ankle three or four months ago I think. My stupid self thought it already healed.. twice. I did a headstand once, and landed wrongly. It got worse. The other time, I did a waltz jump off-ice... and it got worse. Again. I’ve never skated consistently I know but the last I’ve skated was in January. That’s almost half a year of no ice for me. :( But just today I did a waltz jump off-ice and it didn’t hurt!!! I jumped like thrice but now I’m too afraid to try again. What if it gets worse. I already had it checked before, and the doctor said I just had to wait. Maybe I’ll just wait for a week? Or two? I know I should let go of the fear but I really really don’t want to worsen it anymore. I’ve already waited for so long. I want to go back. Now.

Laura Lepisto’s Laid Back. (Layback spin)
Another skater I miss, I feel like she was just embarking on something special before she was injured. European champion and world medalist.

Okay so I have a 7-hour break this Friday. Should I go to the rink or not..... It's an hour and a half away from my uni. :((  I HATE MY SCHEDULE THIS SEM I SWEAR. My last sem's sched was so perfect for skating. And now I have 7 to 5:30 classses. And the rink now closes at 8 instead of 10. WHY.

Since I’m no longer an active athlete, I don’t feel the rigors of training anymore. Physically and mentally I feel stable. Since I don’t have a job at the moment (lol), I don’t feel stressed or pressured. When I was a competitive skater, I would spend hours debating while shopping - putting down clothes I liked because I just thought I would never wear them. Now, when I see pretty clothes I think “I’ll wear it someday” and buy what I like. Currently, I’ve been really into watching romantic comedy movies. I haven’t properly sat down to really test my alcohol tolerance levels. What I know for a fact though is that I don’t get the “asian glow”! I’ve only tried beer but my face doesn’t turn red. I don’t think I’ve really been introduced to real alcohol yet so I guess I’m not positively sure.

I'm just really glad that even though skating isn't my priority right now, it's still something I look forward to doing every week. 'Cause I just had a really bad week and now a 4-day weekend... Ya'll know what that means! Hahaha! Gonna skate all my problems awaaaaay.
