I can't remember if I've put something about these two things anywhere here on my blog so I'm going to do it now.

The first being that Blade isn't like a gung ho on wanting to stab every single person he sees. He can be violent but it's not like the man goes out seeking to kill people for the mere fun of it. It all varies on what Elio's script does & doesn't say. The other thing being that his mara brings out the sides of him that aren't him. Mara brings out the violent parts of him, the anger, hatred to where it's difficult to even remain in his own aware state. Outside of that, Blade is really just someone who keeps to himself. He's quiet, tired & in a constant state of pain. He doesn't let himself get super close to people because of the risk + what he seeks at the end.

The second being that he isn't some constant suicidal person. Yes, Blade wants to die but it's not purely for the sake of dying. He doesn't want to exist in this form because it's everything that he despises. It's a beast & a monster, both things that people cut down without a second moments hesitation. He wants to be free from the noise in his head, the cycle of dying & returning but to rest as well. Not the kind where it's a craving of sleep but one where everything is finally just silent.

VERSE INFORMATION: HUNTER

This is a verse where Blade is that of an immortal swordsman, cursed in his mid 40s, that travels about from place to place. He mostly kills monsters, putting himself in dangerous situations all in the hopes of finding a way to truly pass on.

Yingxing is his birth name but Blade is the moniker that he goes by in regard to his hunting. Those closer to him, the rarest of occurrences in itself, are given the name of Ren to call him. He hardly ever shares the name of Yingxing to anyone since who he was back then hardly feels real anymore.

When it comes to his appearance, Blade has that of silver - white hair & light blue eyes. He usually wears a black mask over the upper part of his face where only his eyes can be seen. Blade wears a black cloak as well with a hood, usually worn up. This is to keep a good portion of his identity hidden when it comes to interacting with others on a daily basis. The moments of times when he removes these are during that of rest.

As for the experience of death, each time it happens usually leaves Blade incapacitated for several hours. This depends on the severity of the wound though so sometimes it can take a day or two for more ... limbs taken wounds.

He does have two swords carried on his back along with a knife holstered onto his ankle. Ren tends to favor the usage of a single sword but can do duel sword fighting. The second sword just tends to be a back-up in case the first somehow gets lost or thrown away.

Consider this my post of all the important Blade character portrayal notes that either deviate from canon or just some things I wanna emphasize on. These will be included for both Yingxing then Blade respectably.

THE BODY.

Firstly being that for my writing of Blade, I see his hair being more of an inky black color with a blue / purple sheen to it ( much like that of a raven's feather ) but without the red tint at the ends. Yingxing at the time of the sedition for me was somewhere in his early 50s to mid 50s. When he was younger his hair was the same color that Blade's is but prematurely started turning a grayish - white due to both genetics + life stress, somewhere in his early to mid 40s.

Now for the skin, Yingxing's hands were rather rough & calloused when it came to the skin from all the years of working as a forger. This is how it'd been for most of his life considering he'd been doing this work for much of his life. His face does have rather prominent wrinkles ( crows lines, frown lines, tear throughs ).

For Blade the once calloused & rough hands are now smoother which only brings about anger. The anger for all that had been worked for even more so being gone. He has crows lines & the tinge of dark circles under his eyes from the lack of sleep each night.

My writing of Yingxing instead has him with very light blue eyes that do sometimes appear purple at times from light reflection. Blade's eyes are that of a golden amber - red which makes it appear close to the colors of a fire. In modern verses Blade's eyes are an amber - brown instead.

When it comes to canon verses, Blade's scarring is not as bad for my portrayal in comparison to in game. He has tried multiple ( a lot ) suicide attempts, fighting against Dan Heng & having been in battle as a Stellaron Hunter. The scarring is more moderately medium but in AU verses it's equal to in game appearance.

The glove that Blade wears on his hand is mostly to help with gripping his sword while the bandages on his other are mainly serving for support & protection. Both help with the dexterity of his hand in making swift & precise movements with his sword. They give more stability when doing other tasks as well since Blade's hands are not what they used to be. It can be difficult to do smaller tasks that require precision ( such as drawing, forging & the like ).

CANON DIVERGENCE.

When it comes to his birth name, it was not Yingxing but something else that has since been lost to him. Much of what Yingxing remembers in regard to his childhood is drowned in the imagery of blood. The grief & loss. He doesn’t remember the name he once bore even more so hardly remembers the faces of his family as the years went by. Yingxing was the name given to him by Huaiyan once deciding to train under him. I have a headcanon here for most recent name labeling.

The one important thing for my writing of Yingxing & Blade is that Jingliu never came across him so there was no repeated dying. His memories stayed the same, tormented instead by what he’d become, which left him able to recall the life that was Yingxing. The past 700 years though have left various memories muddled + some forgotten since the mind can't always remember everything. This is taking into account the numerous deaths & revives that have happened through the past hundred years.

In addition to the above, Blade's mara isn't to the same intense level as seen in game. This doesn't take away from the fact that it does grip him at times to where Blade isn't himself or quite lucid. He can be violent when the mara strikes.

The saying ' of 5, 3 must pay the price ' is not said by Blade at all since it was a saying mostly adopted from Jingliu. It doesn't take away the fact however that he does see himself as someone to pay a price for what occurred.

Blade does have lingering anger towards Dan Feng for the pure purpose of thinking he did something wrong during the whole process or caused him to turn this way. It's why that anger was taken out on Dan Heng even if such a thing wasn't right to do so. As for the chance of some sort of reconciliation, that'd be possible but would take a lot lot of work, that can be left up to plotting ( for both Dan Heng or any Dan Feng muses ).

-- WISHLIST.

This is kind of just a general wishlist idea of any dynamics / interactions that could be fun. Some things listed below are just writing tropes that I'd enjoy writing or be open to discussing.

Blade & Castorice: Not because of all the drawn memes in regards to Blade 'dying' finally. I like the contrast on how Castorice yearns for the warmth of touch & how death practically has been seen so much by her. Blade being the opposite in wanting that eternal rest just to finally be at peace. I like differing views especially if it contradicts one another.

Blade & Yanqing: This would be interesting considering the events firstly on the Luofu, how losing to Blade & Dan Heng became like a bit of a set-back to Yanqing.

Blade & Dan Heng: This is a given but in the very antagonistic & complicated sort of way ... just because of how I see Blade when it comes to Dan Heng.

Blade & Mydei: I just think they could go absolutely ham on one another. Immortal + Immortal but in like a different sense so could be interesting? All that's to be discussed though because I haven't done much in Ampho yet. This is just a random brain thought tho.

Blade & Luocha: I say this because of the line when you add Luocha to a team with Blade in it. One being the healer that saves people while the other doesn't want saving. Opposite's always just are fun to write.

Blade & Boothill: The concept of interacting just seems like it'd be interesting in the way that they're both on a chase towards something.

Blade & Jingliu: Mostly because of the changes that I made to my portrayal for Blade. I wanna explore like eventually their interactions after the Sedition happened, the first time that they see one another again. Something I wish to plot.

Blade + the HCQ: This is just a given because Yingxing's relationship with them is so dear to me that just exploring Yingxing's life then compared to now is so ... delicious. Yingxing & Baiheng is definitely one of those because like she was definitely so dear to him & that'll be taken from my cold dead hands.

Blade + the Stellaron Hunters: We see like little bits & pieces of the dynamics they have with one another so it's just something I'd love to flesh out some more. I don't see them as say like a family but a group come together for a singular purpose to fulfill their own goals. They have each others backs though so it just gives me grabby hands.

Blade & Childe: I really don't have many ideas for this other then the mere thought of sparring together mayhaps.

Yingxing, in regards to his 'fragile' humanity: I want to explore so much on Yingxing's frustrations or pressure that he probably feels to prove others wrong. Short life species get looked down upon for having such short lives by many people on the Xianzhou despite how great their skills can be. The way that Yingxing obtained the Furnace Master title but wasn't even allowed to actually be in, how that probably just pissed him off. Stuff like that I want to explore just because there is no way in hell Yingxing just took it in stride.

Yingxing, home world & parents: I haven't like thought of where Yingxing came from or what his life was like before the Borison invasion that destroyed all he'd known & loved. He probably thinks about it often though, the life which was robbed from him that spurred so much of his future actions. I just thinking that maybe he could talk about his parents, what he remembers of them & that. He doesn't want to like forget them? I feel like this is an added factor to why when he becomes cursed with abundance, Yingxing is in disgust.

Yingxing & Kaveh: I'm still working on like a Genshin verse ( outside of the vague idea I have right now ) but two creators that take great pride in their work & what they do. They're just two characters I could see meshing together.

AU IDEAS

Hitman Blade: That's something which would be kind of neat to explore for him. I don't have any specific ideas for this other then either currently has that as his job title or it was a former. Maybe it's something that he gave up. I DUNNO but it could be fun.

FFXIV verse: I eventually plan to add an ffxiv verse after I think a bit more on it but which how expansive the universe is. There is so much potential for him ...

I wanted to write a somewhat smallish headcanon when it comes to Blade's name in regards to like the usage of Yingxing & why it's despised on being used.

Yingxing is not a name that he wants to hear himself be called at all. Blade is the name that he's chosen for this identity now for many reasons ( i.e simply carrying out the duties of a weapon in fulfilling the script & merely being that of a monster ). The mere thought of holding the name Yingxing makes him feel sick considering he sees himself merely as an abomination of Abundance. He is everything that Yingxing worked against & lost his home to. All of Yingxing's passions, aspirations & desires died the day that Blade came into existence. His parents & homeworld were ripped from his hands, a childs hands, from the very things Yingxing swore to help defeat by forging weapons. The work that he'd done had been everything to him, it was his pride & joy. What he is now, it's not what Yingxing would of wanted for himself.

Yingxing may have existed once upon a time but no more. Blade or Ren, you can call him that but not Yingxing. That'll only serve to garner a cold response from him. Irritate him, anger him but overall just leave you in the dust.
