Finished this cozy granny poncho!! I've had this green yarn for EVER and it's already been frogged at least once, so it feels great to finally have it made into something I love :> the hood turned out so huge and fairytaley which is just what I wanted
Pattern: for the body I used the (free) Boho Poncho pattern from Lion Brand, though I changed up the edging. The hood is based on the 'Crochet Granny Stitch Hood Tutorial' by PassioKnit Kelsie on YouTube
Yarn: The body yarn is from King Cole, but I've had it so long I have no idea what it was - I think it may even have been discontinued :''( The lining is Stylecraft 'That Colour Vibe' in 'Joy' and 'Bold'

i am not joking we need to force teach cooking in schools. like. it is an essential thing for survival. do you know how easy it is to make things if you know even the bare bones shit about how cooking works. we need to teach teenagers how far you can take an onion and some other veggies it’’s sad that people grow up not knowing how to prepare literally anything. and i’m not talking about oh this home ed class taught me how to make chicken nuggets at home i’m talking about learning the balancing of sweetness and acidity and saltiness and bitterness and shit like that and techniques and oil temperatures and how meats cook. it needs to be taught because it’s literally not even that difficult and it matters so much

THIS. THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS!
plus: "we can always tell" is just wrong. you can't always tell, because 'masculine or feminine' is a huge spectrum! they say they can always tell trans people from cis people, then turn around and start accusing 'imperfect' cis people -tall cis women, cis women with broad shoulders, hairy cis women, fat cis women, short cis men, cis men with high voices and no facial hair, any cis people that don't conform PERFECTLY to their tiny boxes- of being Big Bad Transgenders intent on sneaking into gendered spaces. when they push these awful ant-trans bills and back it up with 'we can always tell', they can and will use them to attack anyone who doesn't fit into their (often white and christian) gender roles.
"We can always tell" is a violent threat btw.

on a happy note: barbie themed adult-only oneg shabbat/purim spiel! literally everything imaginable was pink and sparkly, half the people there got drunk, and the audience was laughing and cheering and booing haman nearly the whole time!
more introspective/sad note: discussing during the service the often ignored end of the megillah, when the jews call upon hashem to rain down their wrath upon the gentiles of the kingdom and all are destroyed, the jewish people's relationship with both joy and sadness, and an open discussion from those all over the political spectrum on how this can be related to current events in israel and palestine
all in all it was a lovely and thoughtful service and an absolutely fucking banger party afterward <3
Jumblr, what we going as for Purim. you can reblog or type in comments.

acceptable: raspberry, blackberry, chocolate
UNACCEPTABLE: poppy seed, apple, and whatever on g-d's green earth those things are
I would like to publicly apologize for spreading misinformation on my blog. it was irresponsible of me, I should have made the proper research before publicly posting false information, and yet I've recklessly spread Israeli propaganda multiple times. I'm deeply ashamed for my actions now that I see the truth, and I will reflect on my actions and try to do better in the future.
hamantachen with poppy seeds actually tastes really good.
