MCU Chronological Order
This timeline is only about the MCU not the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse (MCM), so it doesn’t contain any of the movies outside the MCU.
Also I consider all these shows above as canon in the MCU but I won’t consider canon Inhumans (even if the rumour of Doctor Strange is true) or Team Thor (although you should see the videos of Team Thor ‘cause they are amazing). Last thing that I want to clarify, I don’t care what the Timeline of Disney+ says about some placements of some movies/shows
Edit: If you wanna know more about specific dates or things about the MCU Chronological Order, I recommend the channel Geekritique on Youtube ‘cause his videos are amazing and really helpfull to understand the wider MCU!

Your Friendly Neighborhood Archer (Kate Bishop/ Reader)
Summary: Now that all the secrets are out in the open will Kate be able to solve the looming threats that she faces? Will Yelena be able to find the answers she is looking for?
Gender-bent Spider-Man, Enjoy! :)
With everything out in the open, you couldn’t help but feel lighter. Now everyone in your life that mattered to you knew everything and the days of secrets were behind you. It was all you could think about as you watched Kate with an adoring smile. At least, you had an adoring smile for a moment before her brows pinched together and she suddenly smacked your arm.
“Ow!” You protested, rubbing at your arm. “What was that for? I’m not the one that threw you off a roof.”
Yelena gasped indignantly at the mention of her actions. “I told you, it was for her own safety! She was in the way of me killing Barton.”
“That was for keeping this a secret! Wait.” Kate paused and turned to face a still disgruntled looking Yelena. “Did you just say you want to kill Clint? Start explaining.” Her arms crossed as she looked at both of you expectantly.
You stared back at Kate for a moment, your lips pulled back in an innocent smile. “Well, I guess I could explain by saying I’m-”
“And you better not just say, I’m Spider-Woman again.” Kate interrupted with a threatening point of her finger.
Your mouth closed immediately as that was indeed what you had planned to say. “Never mind then.” You mumbled sheepishly.
Before Kate could say another word, Yelena made her way over to you both and placed a placating hand on each of your shoulders. “Don’t worry, Kate Bishop. I was going to kill Barton, but Y/n Y/Ln here talked me out of it and now I am willing to take a less violent approach.” She explained in a light tone, an unbothered smile on her lips. “Unless she is wrong of course and then I return to my original plan. Seeing as I was hired for this mission.”
Kate looked over at you for confirmation and you just shrugged. “I have a good feeling about it.” You admitted.
“Is it your Y/n tingle?” Yelena teased sarcastically.
An unbothered laugh fell from her lips when you flipped her off. “Shut up.” You grumbled, feeling your cheeks heat up. “As I was saying - before I was rudely interrupted. I have a good feeling about Clint not being the man he was portrayed to be to Yelena. I want to help her get to the bottom of what exactly happened to Natasha. We can trust Yelena, Kate. She’s good. At least I get the sense she is.”
“Good? I am very clearly great.” Yelena interrupted pointedly.
To annoy her, you made a face as if you were contemplating her words. “That’s debatable.”
As you two began bickering once again, Kate shouted loudly to stop talking. The action immediately forced you both into silence as you looked at her.
“Kate Bishop, your scream could be used as a weapon.” The assassin eventually muttered with a grimace as she took a seat on your bed.
You nodded in agreement before seeing Kate send you a look. To save yourself a lecture, you quickly transitioned your nod into a shake of your head. “I don’t know what Yelena is talking about. You clearly sound like an angel all the time.” You replied innocently as Yelena made kissy faces to tease you.
Kate rolled her eyes at your antics, focusing back on the topic. “Look, this all may just be another Tuesday night for you two, but I’m going to need you to explain in detail what is happening and not start arguing again.”
Glancing over at Yelena, you gestured for her to go on. “It’s your mission after all.”
Rolling her eyes, Yelena leaned back on the bed, her posture completely relaxed. “Well, as I said before, I was hired to kill Clint Barton. It seems as though the person who hired me to do so was in fact your mother who is working for an even bigger foe than the woman you were fighting on the roof. Maybe not as big a threat as me, but still a threat.” The words fell so casually from her lips, but it was information even you yourself didn’t know and you weren't sure how your girlfriend was going to take it.
There was silence, but the expression on Kate’s face was one you had never seen before and you’d be lying if you said you weren’t concerned. “Kate?” You questioned, placing a gentle hand on her lower back.
“I’m going to be sick.” She muttered, moreso to herself than you it seemed. “My mom is working with the bad guys.”
“They’re not good people, no.” Yelena confirmed as she picked absently at her nails.
You shot Yelena a look. “Can you just shut up for five seconds? You’re not helping at all.” In an over dramatic fashion, Yelena mimed zipping her lips. With that under control, you turned back to Kate, placing your hands gently on her cheeks. “Kate, is there something I can do? What do you need me to do?”
Shaking herself off, Kate seemed to gather her bearings enough and placed her hands over yours. “I’m going to need your help.” She murmured determinedly and turned her attention to the blonde assassin. “Both of your help. This ends now.”
Yelena stood back up, an amused smirk on her lips. “Well, you can count me in, Kate Bishop. We’re going to need a plan.”
Kate smiled and you couldn’t help the pride you felt bloom in your chest at her confidence. “Leave that to your friendly neighborhood archer.” She answered cheekily, shooting a wink your way.
The sound of Yelena groaning once again filled the room. “I will be reconsidering my acceptance of your friendship after this mission.”
_____________
The next day found you in front of Clint Barton, your fellow Avenger who had never seen you outside of your Spidey suit with the woman who was assigned to kill him at your side. The tensions were heavy as Kate stood by Clint and you stood by Yelena. Even the sight of the older archer made Yelena tense and you hoped that your gamble of peace wouldn’t end in even more destruction.
Eventually the silence became too much and you coughed awkwardly as you gestured broadly to the assassin beside you. “Yelena, meet Clint Barton. Clint, meet Yelena Belova…” His eyes lit up with recognition and suddenly his body seemed to sag with the weight of guilt he seemed to be carrying. Yelena didn’t ease up in the slightest though. “Natasha Romanoff’s sister and a Black Widow assassin who um… Was sent to, well… Kill you.”
Despite the weight of your words the man didn’t seem surprised in the slightest as he merely stared intently at the blonde by your side seemingly at a loss for words. The silence that stretched into minutes was excruciating and you could see Kate shift uncomfortably under the weight of silence as her initial instinct with silence was usually to fill it with rambling.Thankfully she seemed to realize this wasn’t the place for it.
“I’m sorry, Y/n. I can’t do it.” Yelena eventually murmured, her body tense with anger at the sight of him. The former Avenger didn’t seem to be feeling the same anger though because if you looked closely enough you were almost certain Clint’s eyes were watering. “I need to-”
Before Yelena could finish her sentence though, Clint whistled a short tune, the sound clearing meaning something to Yelena as her eyes immediately watered at the sound, a memory in her eyes as a quiet gasp escaped her lips. “How do you know that?”
“It was your secret whistle with Nat.” The man answered, his voice thick with emotion. “She talked about you all the time, Yelena.”
The other woman’s lip trembled as she took in Clint’s words. “She did?” He nodded, the weight of his past reflected clearly in his expression. “What did she say?”
Clint looked over at you and Kate. “Do you mind giving us a minute?”
You looked at Yelena for confirmation, wanting to make sure she felt comfortable. When you received a short nod you took Kate’s hand. “We’ll be outside.” You muttered before dragging Kate away.
As you both settled on a bench outside you felt Kate nudge you, drawing your thoughts away from your new found friend and back to her. “That was a good thing you did back there, you know?”
You shook your head. “I didn’t do anything. I just gave Yelena a chance to hopefully find some peace.” You replied, sliding your hand into hers. “Mission or not, she deserved to know what happened to her sister.”
For a moment Kate just stared at you. “It all makes so much sense now.”
Your brows furrowed. “What makes sense?” You nudged her. “Why you’ve been madly in love with me from day one?”
Kate rolled her eyes at your clear attempts of deflection. “No. Why you make so much sense as Spider-Woman. You’ve always been the most selfless person I know and the fact that you’re a superhero, putting yourself on the line everyday… It makes sense.”
Heat spread up your neck and across your cheeks at the admiration in her tone. “I’m just doing what anyone would do.” You mumbled, fidgeting absently with her fingers in your hand.
“Not everyone would take the time to hear out an assassin and try to help her find peace.” Kate countered, though she let you keep playing with her fingers. “You are something else, Y/n Y/ln.”
You looked up at her, your head tilted curiously. “Did you just use my full name? I think you’ve already been spending too much time with Yelena.”
Kate smacked your shoulder with her free hand and you chuckled. “Will you stop trying to change the subject and let me admire how amazing my girlfriend is?”
Placing a finger on your chin, you pretended to think about it. “Hmm… No.” Kate rolled her eyes and you couldn’t help but laugh. “But I do like the sound of you calling me your girlfriend.”
A sparkle appeared in Kate’s eyes as she shifted forward slightly. “Oh yeah?” You hummed and leaned forward yourself. “I think I like the sound of it too.” She whispered.
A moment later you felt the soft sensation of her lips against yours, the kiss light and loving. A gentle reminder of the new step you had taken with the woman of your dreams. The tender moment didn’t last long though as you felt cold water trickle over your heads, causing you both to spring apart.
“You’re like rabbits! Stop subjecting my eyes to this torture.” You heard Yelena’s voice shout from above your head.
Both you and Kate looked up to see Yelena and Clint leaning out of the window looking down at you both. Clint wore an amused smile, but looked much more at ease than he had moments before and while Yelena’s were red rimmed with the telltale sign of tears, the playfully disgusted expression she wore let you know she was okay. That she had received the answers she had so desperately deserved. They both looked infinitely lighter and that was all you could have ever hoped for.
“Thanks, Yelena! I was feeling thirsty anyway.” Kate called back sarcastically, wiping the water off her face.
As you were shaking the water off your head you blasted a web at Yelena’s hand, attaching her to the balcony. “What? This is so uncalled for.” Yelena complained, trying futilely to pull her hand out from the web.
“Karma. It'll dissolve in two hours!” You shouted up at her, chuckling when she used her free hand to flip you off.
“This is why I don’t work with kids.” You could faintly hear Clint say with an amused shake of his head. “Now that everything is settled, get up here. I believe my partner has a plan she would like to share.” He added nodding meaningfully at Kate.
Kate was practically beaming with Clint’s words, the pure undiluted happiness radiating off of her, leaving you in a content daze as she dragged you back up into the building to plan something that definitely wouldn’t be joyous.
___________
As everyone was getting into place you felt the familiar touch of Kate’s hand slide meaningfully against your lower back. The touch was intimate and a stark contrast to the way she used to touch you before but even then, it all felt so natural. Like it was meant to be like this all along.
“You okay?” Kate questioned in concern, drawing your attention back to the moment.
Your brows furrowed though she couldn’t see under your mask. “Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that? I don’t mean to brag but I am an Avenger and this is kind of your first time doing… All this.” You replied gesturing broadly to the world around you - to the invisible dangers lurking around you both.
“Alright, hotshot.” Kate said with a roll of her eyes though her hands didn’t fall from your body. Almost as if the feeling of you in her grasp was grounding her. “But seriously, are you okay?”
To try and ease her mind, you cupped her cheek, irritated with the gloves on your hands that prevented you from feeling her soft skin under your fingertips. “As fine as I can be with my girlfriend being used as a lure for a supervillain.” You eventually answered. “I’ve been against odds that are far worse, but somehow… the stakes feel much higher right now.”
Kate placed her free hand over yours. “You have nothing to worry about, okay? We have two Avengers, a Russian spy, and the world’s greatest archer, AKA me, on our side.” her lips turned up playfully.
“That sounds like the start of a horrible joke.” You countered.
Kate flicked your forehead lightly. “Actually, it’s the start of your most successful superhero story.” She said with a short chuckle. “Besides, I don’t mean to brag, but my plan is pretty genius.”
“In this line of work, plans don’t ever go like they’re supposed to.” You muttered
“It will.” Kate reassured you determinedly. “Now get in place. We have a villain to defeat.” She added, playfully smacking your behind with a wink.
You jumped slightly in surprise before bursting out laughing. Even in the worst situations, Kate knew just what you needed. “Ma’am, yes, ma’am.” You said with a mocking salute. “I’ll see you on the other side, Bishop.” You raised an arm to shoot a web aimed towards the top of the building, quickly propelling yourself skyward.
“Wait! Y/n!” The sound of your name echoing caught your attention and you eased yourself back down, hanging upside down from the web still attached to your web shooter.
“Bishop, you realize that the whole purpose of a secret identity is that my identity stays a secret, right?... That means you probably shouldn't be calling me by my name.” You reprimanded playfully, relishing in the way her cheeks dusted with a faint pink hue.
Kate seemed to get over the embarrassment quickly though as she stepped forward, a faint smile on her lips. “Sorry,” She whispered and you felt electricity course through your veins at the faintest husk in her voice. “But I needed to do this first.”
Before you could question what she was talking about, Kate rolled your mask to just above your nose and pressed her lips to yours. Her hands slid against your cheeks and you had to tighten your grip on the web holding you up because you were almost certain that the dizzying sensation of her lips against yours was enough to make you lose all sense of balance. You returned her kiss with fervor, itching to feel her body against yours.
A soft breath escaped your lips when you felt her tongue trace the seam of your lips, exploring the new territory with a sense of eagerness.
“Ah! You two stop it right now! Have you not subjected me to enough of this torture?” Yelena shouted. “We are on a mission!”
Quickly pulling away, you shrugged. “Sorry, Belova. But not really.” You pushed forward again and lightly pecked Kate’s lips once more. “I love you, Bishop.”
A small smile immediately overcame her features and she practically melted in place, but before she could utter her reply, you shot another web, slinging yourself back upwards. “Drinks on me after the mission!” You shouted as you were propelling through the sky to your position, leaving Kate with Yelena.
There was a brief moment of silence as Kate looked up at the place where you were hidden, the small smile still on her lips as she was completely lost in the fact that you had just said the words she had spent so long dreaming of hearing.
“Have I told you both that you disgust me?” Yelena eventually said, drawing Kate back to reality. “Because you do.”
Kate shook her head. “But we’re your new best friends now, you’re stuck with us for life.” she replied, nudging Yelena.
The answer seemed to fluster Yelena, almost as if she was unfamiliar with the concept of having friends, yet it was something she craved. Kate merely smiled knowingly and let Yelena redirect the subject. “Okay, enough of that lovergirl. We have serious business to tend to now. Barton is already at the ice rink.”
And just like that, Kate focused her attention and with your own heightened senses and special Stark features, you waited for your own part of the plan. It all unraveled rather quickly. The tracksuit mafia cornered Clint, thinking he was alone. Little did they know Clint had three tricks up his sleeve. Yelena quickly joined Clint in the hand to hand aspect while you swung down and focused on immobilizing and taking down as many as you could. Kate utilized the arrows that she had just got that day and it was almost as though everything would go according to plan.
In the middle of the fight, Clint received word that Kate’s mother had just been spotted drawing Kate’s attention. Despite your attempt to follow her, the look in her eyes let you know that she wanted you to stay and finish everything off just like the plan had said.
Much to your displeasure, Kate took off in a sprint to find her mom, leaving you fighting a swarm of other people. As you were distracted by Kate, you noticed Yelena tackle a man whose gun was aimed directly at you and stun him. “I’m so glad she’s on our side.” You mumbled to yourself as you began making even quicker work of immobilizing the enemies. “Sorry, you're a bad guy. You deserve this.” You said sheepishly when your webs attached one of them to the cold ice.
With only a handful left, you looked towards Yelena who flipped one of the tracksuits before looking back at you. “Go find Bishop! Barton and I will wrap things up here and meet you.” She urged you before turning back to the task at hand.
Not hesitating for a moment you quickly swung out of the rink and to the location Kate was set to lure Kingpin to. Your heart was racing with each passing second, the worry making the short path there seem endless. When you finally reached the location, your stomach dropped as you saw a car crashed into a storefront and Kate fighting a man who looked about five times her size. Without a thought, and with as much force as you could muster, you propelled into the window, launching yourself at the man who had just sent your girlfriend flying across the room.
“Knock, knock. Hey Mr. Criminal?” You began as you got his attention and quickly swung around him, effectively pinning his arms to his side before he could even react. “My name is Spider-Woman. You can call me web-head, you can call me amazing. Just don’t call me late for dinner. Get it?” You said, looking back at Kate for approval.
Kate grimaced as she got to her feet. “Really? A joke right now?” She muttered, quickly pulling an arrow out and aiming it at the man.
Kingpin grunted as he struggled against the reinforced webs you had wrapped him in. “You’re really starting to annoy me.” He said, his tone threatening.
You waved a finger. “Ah, ah. I wouldn’t do that if I were you Mr. Criminal.” Just as he flexed in an attempt to break the webs, you spoke. “Karen, activate taser webs.” A moment later the webs lit up, shocking him in the process.
“Told you.” You muttered as he fell to the floor, his body convulsing. “Time for the last step?”
Kate riffled through her arrows and nodded. “Ready when you are.” Dramatically, you did some stretches, twisting in place as if you were preparing for a marathon. “I’m beginning to regret this part of the plan.” Kate said with an amused shake of her head.
You smiled and cracked your knuckles. “Ready, boss.” You said as you moved to pick up a passed out criminal, huffing under the weight. “I’m pretty sure the Hulk weighed less than him.” You grunted as you shoved him into the car just as Kate finished pulling her mother out.
With a deep breath, Kate pulled back her arrow and let it fly, the point piercing the windshield of the car and shrinking it almost immediately. A weight melted off her shoulders as what now looked like a toy car rested at your feet. Shortly after, the police arrived to take Eleanor away. You gave Kate her space as she said anything she needed to say to her mother before she was put away. Even though the moment seemed to weigh heavily on Kate she seemed almost lighter as she made her way back to your side.
“You okay?” You questioned in concern, wrapping your arm around her waist.
Kate nodded faintly, her eyes transfixed on the car. “I’ll be okay.” She replied with a small but reassuring smile. “I wonder what happens to him now.”
Clint and Yelena ran up before you could reply though. “Where is he?” Clint questioned urgently.
You gestured to the car at your feet. “Right there. I don’t think he’ll be much of a threat now.”
Yelena groaned. “I can’t believe we missed it.”
“All you missed was Y/n here making a joke at the most inappropriate time.” Kate answered.
Clint shook his head. “That sounds about right.” He muttered.
“What do we do with him?” Kate questioned, gesturing to the car. Before anyone could reply though, an owl swooped down and caught the car in its claws before quickly flying off. “Well I guess that answers my question.”
Unable to help yourself, you laughed and soon the rest of the group joined in. “Who’s ready for some much deserved drinks at the Gibson?” You asked once the laughter had finally settled. Everyone chorused in agreement.
As everyone was turning to walk away, you caught Kate’s hand. “Care for a little detour?”
Kate smiled. “I’ll go anywhere you go.” She replied without hesitation.
With a smile, you wrapped your arm around her waist and pulled her close. “Better hold on tight then.”
“Oh, I plan to.” She quipped as her arms looped around your neck.
“We’ll meet you there!” You called out to Clint and Yelena who had already walked several feet ahead.
Yelena rolled her eyes and Clint chuckled. “If you make us wait longer than five minutes I will go to your apartment and get every embarrassing story from May and use it against you forever, Y/n Y/Ln.” She warned with a point of her finger before walking off.
Clint nodded. “And I’ll get the footage of your Avenger’s impressions from Happy if you don’t take good care of her.” Clint added before following Yelena.
Kate’s laughter filled your ears and you shook your head. “No faith in me.” You mumbled in disbelief. “I love you guys too!” You shouted, laughing when Yelena flipped you off over her shoulder.
“I love you.” Kate said, the honesty in her tone practically making your heart stop and you focused back on the woman before you.
Brushing away a loose strand of hair, you replied, “And I love you, my friendly neighborhood archer.” With her arms wrapped tightly around you, you aimed an arm upwards. “You’re going to love this.” You said before swinging off into the distance, Kate’s laughter echoing through the night.
And that is all, folks! I hope you enjoyed reading this almost as much as I enjoyed writing it. Again, I'm really sorry this final part took so long to post. School and work is killing me already haha. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts and comments though! :)

The next morning came swiftly, and you could swear that was the best you’ve ever slept. As you woke up, you were suddenly aware of the weight that was on top of your body. When your eyes adjusted to the morning light, you glanced down, only to find that Kate was sleeping soundly. Her head was resting in the crook of your neck, whilst she had an arm slung over your torso. As you attempted to move your legs, you realized that her legs were also intertwined with yours, and your left arm was stuck under her weight, wrapped around her. If you could capture this moment and live in it forever, you would. The peacefulness that graced Kate’s face while she was asleep was the most beautiful you’ve ever seen her. All of your senses were completely doused with Kate, and you realized this is the most comfort you’ve felt since your parents passed. You weren’t nervous or excited or jittery; you were simply calm and comfortable, like you’ve been here 100 times before. As your train of thoughts were rolling, you started to feel Kate shift.
“Morning,” Kate mumbled- her coarse morning voice in full effect.
“Good morning, Kate,” you said as you smiled down at her. She smiled back at you and you could see the realization of her position morph her features. She stammered, the fact of just waking up obviously not helping her brain move and speak at the same time. “Oh- I’m- uh- I’m sorry- so sorry.”
As she started to move away from you, you tightened your left arm around her and gently grabbed her arm that had been draped across your torso. “No, you don’t have to move. I’m quite comfortable, actually,” you stated with a sigh as you looked up towards the ceiling. She smiled at you softly and settled back into your arms.
“I’m sorry. I should’ve warned you I’m a cuddler,” she stated as the coarseness was leaving her voice.
You chuckled lightly, mainly at the idea that she thought she was bothering you. “You don’t have to apologize. I can promise you it wasn’t a one-sided thing,” you said as you wiggled the arm that was underneath her. Just as she was about to say something else, you felt the other side of the bed shift. At first, you were seriously confused until you remembered that there’s a dog in your bed. Lucky got up and started walking on the two of you, while also giving you a bath with his tongue.
“Well, I guess that means it’s time to get up.” You unravel yourself from Kate and swing your legs over the side of the bed. You sit there for a second, getting the last bit of morning weariness out of your system, when two arms wrap around your chest from behind you. Kate puts her head on your shoulder and says, “Thank you again for last night, y/n.” She kisses your cheek before she gets out of bed and walks towards your shower. You expected yourself to blush like you typically do whenever Kate does something like that, but you don’t. It just feels familiar for some reason. Familiar and easy. You stand up and reach your hands towards the ceiling, stretching. You can feel your shirt ride up and expose some of your midriff, and when you look towards Kate you can see her staring. You smirk to yourself, satisfied that all that hard work it took to get a somewhat 2-pack is paying off.
When your shirt goes back down, she looks up at you for a moment before asking, “Do you mind if I shower?”
“No, not at all. Towels are in the cabinet above the sink.” She gives you a quick thank you and then heads into the bathroom. You go out to the kitchen to start making some breakfast. You decide on bacon and pancakes. As you’re cooking, Lucky takes a seat on the kitchen floor. He looks up at you expectantly. “Alright, alright, I suppose you do need breakfast,” you say as you give Lucky a couple pieces of bacon.
Kate soon walks into the kitchen with her hair wet and wearing your clothes. You could feel your heart skip a beat at the sight. “It smells so good in here, and I’m starving,” she says as she walks up to you. “Good because I'm making bacon and pancakes,” you say as you pour the pancake batter onto the pan. “Watch this.” You hold the pan up and flip the pancake successfully.. “Looks like you got another Avenger level quality there,” Kate says with a laugh. “I’m thinking I should start a resume,” you say as you try to hide your laughter. You look at her with a serious expression, but you eventually both start laughing.
You and Kate had just finished your breakfast when her phone buzzed. “Oh, it’s Clint. He says he’s going to meet me at my place to get the Ronin suit.” You sigh and grimace towards your food. You meant what you said last night; you’re happy for her, but your worry trumps that. Regardless, you put on your best smile and try not to strip her of the obvious joy she’s feeling from getting to see her hero again. “Right, well, make sure you let him know who the world’s greatest archer is.”
“I could definitely give him a run for that title,” she says with a proud smile as she gets up from her seat. “I think I’m going to head back to my apartment to make sure it’s not a disaster before he gets there. Thank you so much for letting me stay here. You have no idea how much it means to me,” she says as she makes her way to your door. Your worry finally overtakes you and you put a hand on the door before she can open it. “Wait, Kate. Just promise me you’ll be careful. Please,” you beg. She smiles at you and rests a hand on your arm, “I will. I promise,” she says and you move away from the door. You watch her walk out the door, a feeling of uneasiness washing over you.
To distract yourself from your thoughts about Kate’s well-being, you decided to keep yourself busy. After Kate left, you got dressed and took Lucky for a walk around the city. You decided to go grocery shopping while you were out with Lucky, just in case Kate would be coming around more often. You hoped so badly that she would be. It had been so long since you felt any type of connection with a person. When your parents died, you pretty much just shut down. You alienated everyone you knew, which left you with nobody. For a while, that was best. It was easier to not care about anybody because there was no potential of losing them. Eventually, it got lonely, but you still didn’t make the effort to make any friends or get into a relationship. You had tried going on a few dates, but nothing ever came of it. That was all until Kate, of course. She quite literally knocked you out of your stupor, and it was like the part of you that died with your parents was finally waking back up. You had finally met someone worth putting effort into. Of course, the downside to that was the fact that you cared for her now. Deeply. You couldn’t believe your luck that the person that would open you back up again, willingly puts themself in danger. It was like some sick twist of fate.
You got back to your apartment as the sun was setting. You put chicken in the air-fryer and sat down to read a book. As soon as you sat down, you heard a light knocking at your door. The breath you seemed to be holding in all day finally released itself, as you were happy to know that Kate was ok.
“Kate! I’m glad to see you’re ok. Less cuts and bruises this time, too,” you say with a smile after you opened the door to greet her.
“Yeah, less cuts, I’m feeling great. But actually, there’s something I need to ask you.” Kate clears her throat before continuing. “Do you think I could possibly stay with you for a while?”
You feel elated that she’d want to stay with you, so you obviously answer, “Of course. You’re always welcome.” However, as soon as the words left your mouth, the wheels in your head started to turn. “Wait, why do you need to stay over here?”
Kate looks at you and hesitantly mumbles, “Well, uh, see my apartment actually caught on fire. I mean, not caught on fire, it was more set on fire, but-”
“Kate!? What do you mean it was set on fire!?”
“The tracksuit mafia guys threw molotov cocktails into my apartment,” she says with a wince, as if she knows what you’re about to say.
Her confirmation of what happened rocked you. This was getting serious, and it was scaring the shit out of you. You couldn’t handle the idea of losing another person you care about. All that worry unfortunately made its way out of your system. “Kate, you’re fucking kidding me right now! You have got to stop hanging out with Clint! It’s too dangerous!”
Kate looked taken back at your outburst. “Y/n, you can’t tell me not to work with him. I’ve told you that this is my dream!”
“You got to meet him, that’s great! But you shouldn’t be running around with him, willingly throwing yourself into danger!” You countered.
“I can handle myself! Look! I’m fine!”
“Kate, I spent an hour cleaning your wounds last night! You’re not fine!”
“Y/n a couple scratches is nothing!” she said with a pleading voice.
You threw your hands up in exasperation, “KATE, YOUR APARTMENT WAS JUST BURNT TO A CRISP. IT’S SOMETHING!”
“I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHY YOU CARE SO MUCH, Y/N!” she yelled back.
Whether it was the adrenaline or your anger not helping you think straight, you spun around to face her and walked towards her with a one-track mind. You advanced on her quickly and pushed her back up against the door. You were sure that the fire in your eyes was noticeable, but Kate didn’t look scared, she just looked shocked.
As soon as her back hit the door, you pressed your lips to hers. You had her face in your hands, but she wasn’t kissing you back. As you were about to pull away and profusely apologize, she grabbed your shirt with both of her hands and pulled you closer to her. She kissed you back with the same passion you had kissed her with. Kate pushed herself off the door, and pushed you back towards your bedroom, all while still keeping your lips connected. You momentarily broke the kiss when the back of your knees hit the side of your bed. Kate pushed you to sit down on the bed, and when you looked up at her, you didn’t recognize her eye color anymore. They weren’t her usual warm brown; they were now as dark as the New York sky. She straddled your lap and resumed kissing you, even hungrier now. As she made her way to your neck, you threw your head back. “Shit, Kate.”
She started to lift her shirt off, but you stopped her. It took all your willpower, but you somehow came to your senses. “Wait, wait, stop,” you said as you were trying to catch your breath. Kate looked at you with a mixed expression of confusion and hurt. “Oh, oh. Ok. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to push you too far,” she said as she started to get off your lap. You stood up and grabbed her wrist before she could walk off.
“No, no, Kate. Trust me, I want to,” you said as you gave her a once-over. “I really want to.” You looked at her and sighed. “But you’re not just another person to me, Kate. I want my first time with you to be special. For the both of us. I don’t want it to be something we do when our emotions are running high after some argument. I want it to mean something. I want to have everything with you, Kate.”
She looks at you, processing everything you just said to her. Her facial expressions seem to morph through a variety of emotions before she finally settles on a soft smile, with tears forming in her eyes. Then she hugs you, which is quite a change of speed from the intense makeout session you just had, but you still enjoy it just the same.
“Thank you for caring,” she mumbles into your chest. You can feel your shirt become damp and her body lightly shake, as she cries in your embrace.
“You don’t have to thank me. You’ve had a long day. Why don’t we lie down and we can talk about everything in the morning? I know I kind of unloaded a lot on you tonight,” you say as you wonder why she’s crying so hard.
Kate nodded her head and you guided her back down into your bed. Kate resumed the same position she had woken up in this morning. You stroked her hair as her sobs quieted down. “I’m glad you told me. I want us to mean something, too, y/n,” she said right before she quietly fell asleep.
You sighed, as you were still upset with her and her willingness to put herself in danger. However, you were just grateful she was here, in your arms. Hopefully, your luck continued like this.
