I think if the whole of society is telling you you made some fundamental mistake by being fat it can be comforting to know some people are just built to be fat. It’s in their genes, fat serves a real function for the human body, it can be a response to illness that helps you stay healthy, it’s a sign of recovery, weight gain can be part of recovering from an eating disorder. It’s easier to accept being fat when you understand it as a value neutral or positive thing, when you understand you’re not at fault for how your body is.

My favorite kind of fullness is when a person has eaten considerably past satiety, to the point of physically feeling their stomach having stretched out to accommodate all they’ve eaten, visibly tight and sticking out further than it does when it’s empty. Their breathing is shallower than usual, they’re unable to speak full sentences without interrupting themselves by burping and they sure don’t feel like moving, but instead of pain and nausea, they’re just blissed out and food drunk, the feast they’ve consumed slowly lulling them to sleep.

Just a person who’s stuffed to the gills, feeling huge and heavy but without regretting a single bite.
