Flufftober2024 Day One: Lost Pet

Prompt list by @flufftober! I'm super excited to be doing this because I haven't written anything for this blog in a while, so hopefully this will jumpstart my ability to write here again. :')

No warnings! All fluff! Written in head canon format.

🍂 "Why are you smiling?" They ask, a smile of their own drawn across their adorable face.

🍁 "Sojourn sent us a picture of Murphy. It reminds me of how we met." You reply.

🍄‍🟫 You remember that it was a particularly cold day in Toronto. You were pet sitting Murphy while Sojourn was away on *ahem* business. Whatever that means.

🐈‍⬛ You were out on her afternoon walk– when suddenly she tugs her leash free and starts bounding out into the unknown.

🦇 "Murphy! No!" You chase after her for several streets and profusely apologize for running into everybody along the way.

🌰 "Watch out! Corgi with robot legs on the loose!" You yell, nearly tripping and falling a couple times before a kind stranger finally catches her in their arms as she jumps right into them.

☕️ "Aww! Aren't you just a little cutie?" Their face is violently attacked by Murphy's slobbering tongue. "Gah–! Okay, okay! I love you, too!"

🎃 "Murphy! There you are!" You double over and huff, catching your breath after the wild goose chase she just led you on. "I'm so, so sorry about that!"

🍂 "Wait a minute– Murphy? As in, Sojourn's Murphy? I thought you looked familiar." They think aloud to themself.

🍁 You look up at them with a look of bewilderment and relief. At least this person knows Murphy– but how in the world did they know Sojourn?

🍄‍🟫 "Ah– I'm dog sitting for her. Apparently she's away on business? I don't know. I didn't ask." You explain, reaching over to take Murphy in your arms instead.

🐈‍⬛ It's only then do they actually get a good look at you.

🦇 Your clothes are unkempt from the marathon, scarf haphazardly wrapped around your neck as your breath slowly returns to normal and icy puffs of warm air form around your soft looking lips.

🌰 "I'm still so sorry about all of this!" You apologize and place Murphy back to the ground where she belongs. "I didn't mean for it to happen!"

☕️ They snap back to reality with a light pink blush painted across their face. You were... cute. They felt their heart rate pick up just by looking at you.

🎃 "It's okay! Really!" They reassure you. "So, you know Sojourn? I know Sojourn!" They grin awkwardly.

🍂 "Oh! Are you also apart of Overwatch, then?" You wonder.

🍁 "Yes–! Uh, no– kind of?" They weren't sure how to answer. "We have a mutual enemy in common..."

🍄‍🟫 "Uh huh. Is that so?" You raise an eyebrow as their sudden bizarre behavior. They seem nervous.

🐈‍⬛ The story takes longer than it should to explain. By the time they're done, you're both sitting on a nearby park bench as maple leafs slowly float around the two of you.

🦇 "So– um– yeah." They conclude.

🌰 You have to laugh. They get nervous all over again, their heart practically ready to burst out of their chest from beating so hard.

☕️ "Wow. That's pretty impressive, actually. I'm glad you have a passion for that kind of stuff. It makes life worthwhile, you know?" You tell them.

🎃 "Finally! Someone who gets it... I mean, solving mysteries is cool, too! I just... love history a lot more than the average person, I guess." They have to stop themself from explaining it all over again.

🍂 You both sit in silence for a moment before you look at the time.

🍁 "I guess I need to get going." You feel a soft sense of sadness wash over you. You didn't want to stop talking to them.

🍄‍🟫 Even if you didn't do much of the talking.

🐈‍⬛ "Ah– wait!" They stop you as you stand up.

🦇 They rummage through their backpack and take out a notebook and pen. They scrawl down their number as fast as they can, making sure it was still legible before they hand it over to you.

🌰 You smile. Suddenly, you're back in the present.

☕️ "If it wasn't for Murphy, I don't know if we ever would've met." You tell them.

🎃 They reach out and cradle your hand before interlocking their fingers in yours.

🍂 "Nah. I would've found a way. I promise." They lean in and place a kiss to your lips.

🍁 You giggle softly. It's as wonderful as the day they first heard it.

🍄‍🟫 "Good. Because I wouldn't settle for anyone else." You reply.

🐈‍⬛ "Not even Murphy?" They joke.

🦇 "Not even Murphy." You answer.

I really think after this season I'm done with this game because every time I log in and expect it to be fun and every time it is the exact opposite of that and I'm kinda tired of it

(Venture has to be one of the only characters that have made me write this frequently with little to no period of resting before jumping into another post than any other character.)

- Besides the previous jitters they had when they were trying to confess (confession here), they’re so loud and proud about you.

- On the list of subjects they just love to talk about, you’re high on that list.

- They just love you so much you know?

- Spending time with you is the highlight of their day, anywhere, even on the battlefield when they’re getting the shit knocked out of them by Reinhardt.

- On top of that, if the situation allows it, they love to be touching you in some way, whether it be holding hands, placing a hand on your thigh, wrapping their arm around your shoulders, etc.

- They think of you so highly, this does not go away as the relationship between you two progresses, trust.

- Never stops adoring you, and never stops sharing their thoughts with you either. Whether it be about certain types of rocks, artifacts, historical architecture, anything that pops in their brain and they’re in your presence…

- You best believe they’re gonna share it with you first than anyone else.

- Oh and you guys know Rosetta right? Y’all have rock kids together, that’s just fact.

- They all have their own names and their own special spots everywhere in the places you guys reside (together or separately).

- Started collecting them as a monthly anniversary tradition that went off the rails the second they brought one to you.

- You both take some of them to missions together (this is if you guys work together ofc) to gush over them like the proud parents you are.

- Love letters? Love letters, love letters coming from them come in several forms.

- The most common being sticky notes that consist of words of encouragement and flirting that usually has a rock pun in it.

- Like stupidly lame yet equally as cute puns, You can’t tell me they wouldn’t write “Sedimentary rock has got nothing on the many layers of your amazing personality! :D” or “Baby, you rock my world!”

- If they’re in charge of packing your lunch or something, expect notes like this on top of chocolate rocks, gummy worms, orange slices, bag of your favorite chips, and a hoagie sandwich.

- Nothing cooked cause I wouldn’t trust them with a stove.

- They understand if you want to take things slow, but they can’t resist thinking about the future.

- They can’t imagine a life without you in it!

- They’re in this for the endgame, they adore and love you so much, jumping at the chance to show it in any way possible!

Having soooo much fun as this goober!! Venture has quickly risen the ranks to my favorite damage hero. Some games are really rough with them but they're fun overall!!

I want to get the master sword and see the light dragon soooo bad but I legit cannot get up to her. I don't have enough hearts and equipment to do the deku tree stuff :"> but I hardly ever see her and have no idea how to reach her with how high she flies.

I also have this love letter I got from Anigomi!!! They did a charity livestream with a raffle in November and I won a love letter from a character of my choice! I chose Rengoku of course ❤️‍🔥
