The Traveler's Council Excerpt

Hi! Not sure whether you're still on tumblr or not, buuuut I guess I'll try this thing out. So, I first read your fic a while back and instantly got so obsessed with the main team dynamic and all that bonding, I...wrote a fanfic about it! That is still in the process of being written! Anyway, I wanted to share some excerpts with you, but I'm not done with the fic yet. >.< Anyway, getting a bit rambly, so here are four out-of-context excerpts!

“W-we’ve been, we’ve been hunting for a treasure, too, actually,” Lulloyd spoke up. Everyone looked at him in surprise. 

“Wait, really?” Monty raised an eyebrow. 

“I’m parroting myself.” Harumi shook her head. “What’s the treasure?”

“It’s, uh…well, the uh…title is kinda…long.”

“Oh, come on!” Mage protested and slumped over the table. “Don’t leave us in suspense like that!”

“...The Super Mildly Awesome Treasure of Unexpected Secrets and Unrelated Plot Twists At the Worst Times.” 

Everyone cringed simultaneously. 

“Oh, yeah, okay, forget I asked.” Harumi choked out a cross between a groan and a laugh. 

"I I’m going to regret asking this.” Monty sighed. “Does anyone else feel like we just set ourselves up for something by asking that question?”

“Oh, uh, probably,” Lulloyd replied. “But don’t worry! The Super Secret Ninja Force are on it. We, we’ll find it!”

“T-that’s pretty important, Monty.” Lulloyd laughed.

“Yeah, in an anime.” Monty grumbled. “Not in real life when it involves me having to deal with the Walmart version of the Super Sentai Rangers.”

“The…Walmart version of…what now?” Over blinked repeatedly, trying to process what Monty had just said.

“Lloyd,” Lulloyd began slowly, then tilted his head to look at the ninja in question. “That…was…”

“Bat-shit insane,” Monty said bluntly, getting a warning look from Lulloyd and Over alike.

“I killed the mood,” Lloyd groaned into his hands. “I’m sorry.”

“Well, what is it?” Monty asked impatiently. “Spit it out, already!”

“We got a new Elemental Master in town.” Harumi said simply, taking everyone at the table aback.

Lloyd almost jumped out of his seat. “What element did they have?!”

“This is gonna sound stupid, but it’s sand.” Harumi said. “The glass broke because they were trying to harness the sand from before the glass was materialized…which is kind of stupid, but Olive pointed out that the particular type of glass that was broken each time was important. It’s very expensive glass for a reason - it’s made by a company that somehow figured out how to make the glass where the sand remains a separate material from it. Techno Bandit here must have figured that out and so tried to use his sand powers with the glass. Maybe to make it easier to carry the equipment and tech that he stole? I don’t know, but either way, we were able to figure out that the Techno Bandit was an Elemental Master of Sand.”

“You’re right,” Monty said. “That is stupid.”

I let my mind wander a little too far with the fic ideas annnnd these excerpts are from a story called The Traveler's Council, which is a precursor to Rewrite the Ninjaverse...which is basically an idea from Across the Spider-Verse. XD 

Traveler's Council sets up a group of universal counterparts(those that aren't necessarily of Lloyd specifically, but all have the green power or something similar etc to stay sorta within the rules) that have ended up in the same situation as Over, only they kinda wanna crash other universes and transform it into the ones that they lost, by the promise of some crazed Time God. 

Rewrite the Ninjaverse thus far is probably the more self-indulgent of the two. It's basically that Time God from earlier accidentally dragging Lloyd into their business and a kind of reversal of Enter the Ninjaverse happens, where instead of Lloyd starting out the fic hunting down the people who took his powers; he's being hunted by the person-Time God-whose powers he had accidentally STOLE. And he has no clue how to use them, so he lands himself in infinite loops that either clash with his own universe's timeline, and most frighteningly, the events of Enter the Ninjaverse. Obviously, changing the timeline is probably not a good thing, and in Lloyd's case, it's just really awful every time loop - so the story is basically him scrambling to fix the timeline back to its rightful place and uh...well, as you can tell, it's a bit...messy.

A Bit of An Update

Hello everyone!

I figured that, seeing as I've had a few people coming to this blog in recent days, I'd put out a bit of a quick statement!

I don't actively check my Tumblr much anymore, nor am I very connected with Ninjaverse. I do my best to respond to comments on the sites the fic is posted, as my way of saying thanks to those who continue to read it! I do check this blog roughly once a week or so, even if I don't make posts anymore.

For those of your wondering, I've moved onto other projects. Recently I've been working on my own book series and am a few books in. I intend on pouring my heart and soul into it, much like I did with NInjaverse. The fic was an amazing experience in crafting a long form narrative and, therefore, I intend on working hard to keep that same level of quality I delivered there.

Thank you everyone who supported and still supports the fic, and I wish all of you the best! Again, I'll check this blog occasionally so if you do submit or tag anything I will see it! Thank you all! NINJAAAA-GO!

Hey there @1ndomie!

It has been awhile, but it hasn't made your art any less impressive! I about died at the Shinji Chair, it embodies so much of Prime in so many ways. I hide nothing about how inspired that entire world was by Evangelion, so seeing it utterly made my day! Your portrayal of Mage as well just has so much personality and fun to it, it really captures the way I imagiend him in my head, and him with Firstbourne is perfect! And seeing Monty again is always fun, he seems to be the breakout character of the fic!

@bionicstars ,!!! It’s been a very, very long while, I hope you’re on Tumblr still! It’s Hwompy (I moved accounts)!! I don’t know where to start with this, really. I sort of “redrew” my artwork from almost a year ago — the first fanart I drew for Ninjaverse — I sure hope I’ve improved since the last!

Finally finished Ninjaverse and one better believe I screamed!!! It was such a fun read! Thank you for the adventure, all the characters were so fun and interesting to read about.

If it’s not much trouble, can I ask what Prime’s universe was like before the Razing? Was it technologically advanced the same way Harumi’s is or was it closer to canon Lloyd’s? (He’s my favorite character so I’m genuinely curious)

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read the entire fic! I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time with it, it was certainly an amazing thing to write and one that I'm very glad has resonated with you!

To answer your question, I always envisioned Prime's world to be something similar to modern day Ninjago city with some technological advancements. Perhaps a step towards the New Ninjago City we see in Season 3, in a similar way to, say, Neon Genesis Evangelion (a big inspiration for the world). With that being said, much of the technology used in Prime's mech existed in some form before the Razing happened, so I would imagine a very sleek, modern sort of Ninjago City with large hallways, holograms and sweeping machines. I hope that helps!

A Small Promotion

Greetings followers! I know I've been silent for a good while, but I wanted to pop back in and recommend something to you all!

One of my personal friends has started writing their own Ninjago Fanfiction called Land of the Living. It follows Morro and Lloyd as the former is revived and his life tied to the latter as they attempt to escape their captors and figure out what crazy things have happened to them. They put a lot of effort into this story and I heavily recommend it if you want a fun fic to read!

A Happy Holiday to You All

Greetings my followers! Happy Thanksgiving and near end of November!

I know it's been a rather good while since I actually sat down and wrote in this blog. The truth behind that is I've fully committed myself to working on an original book series, and the pre-planning and worldbuilding for that has taken me a rather long time to get right. That isn't to say that I've been intentionally distancing myself from my fanfiction; Ninjaverse to me is still an accomplishment I am proud of. Several big life changes have been limiting my time when it comes to writing, and atop of reading much more to immerse myself back in the world of fiction, I've been pushing myself to maximize my creative outlet into that new book series.

As for if I intend to do more with Ninjaverse right now, that I can't quite say. I initially had a vague idea of a sequel formed, but the amount of time it would take to write it and once again dive back into the worlds I made would be a massive investment. For that reason, I've been holding back on developing it. For now, I'm content to let Ninjverse stand alone, and take what I learned from the experience forward with me.

Who Was Your Favorite?

This was a small question on my mind that I've been thinking of for some time: which of the main cast was your favorite?

Lulloyd?

Harumi?

Mage?

Over?

Monty?

Prime?

Ophiod?

Oni?

I'll say that my favorite character concept was certainly Over. I loved devising this 'evil' version of Lloyd that wasn't just a pure evil character, and I think in the end he certainly had the most nuance and depth of them all. But my favorite to write was always Monty. Writing a character that essentially has given up on his destiny and instead has simply decided to live as a gruff bounty hunter, to me, made for incredibly fun natural conflict and dialogue. I also will mention writing Monty the entire fic without swearing was a challenge, but a welcome one I think also paid off. I love each of them, obviously, but I certainly have my favorites.

With that said, who is your favorite?

The Conclusion of Enter the Ninjaverse

As of today, September 20th, 2021, I have officially ended Enter the NInjaverse. After 1.1 million words, a small following and hours upon hours of money spent drinking coffee to get the fic completed, I've finally finished my work.

I've saved the majority of my thoughts for the Afterword I published at the end of the fic. Needless to say, I ask that you please read that part of the fic, since it will have many of my thoughts I've already come to terms with there.

With that said, however, I want to thank everyone here who followed me on my blog. You'll now see a new page, Universe Bibles, that contains the reference material for every single one of my universes I created. Some information is old, but I did my best to update them for this final release. It's the last bit of Ninjaverse content I intend to write for a very, very long time.

As for the future of this blog, I intend to keep it open and keep it going. I will be posting some small things about ETNV over time, skits or small ideas, maybe some small side content. But mostly, I'm moving on from Ninjaverse. I'll never be able to fully separate myself from the story. I'll never be able to forever stop loving the piece I made, all of its flaws and all. I intend to work on a novel now, and hopefully, to become a fully fledged writer while pursuing my main career. I've loved every second I've spent on this fic, and every second I spent with those of you who read my story.

I'm really, really glad that you enjoy the fic! I can assure you that I actually just posted Chapter 110, which was the last main chapter before the epilogues! You'll be able to catch up now without needing to worry about it getting any longer. The word count is very daunting, but I think it was to the fic's benefit myself. I wanted to make sure I got out all my thougths onto the page, and I frequently would cut three to five pages off of each chapter before posting!

i really loved enter the ninjaverse and even though i haven’t technically read the whole thing (the amount of chapters overwhelm me a lot) i keep coming back to read it

heyy it's me again !! i've just read your recent chapter and i am heyy, heyy it's me again!! read 109, absolutely thrilled to see how it turned out. really looking forward to the last chapter and the epilogues! i also have a question while im at it, do you think the time twins (mainverse) ever knew that they could get their powers back by destroying the time blades or perhaps they were too arrogant and conceited to consider that? just out of curiosity, it'd be hilarious if they actually didn't.

I actually considered that several times in writing the final twist in 108, that being that they had reacquired their last two blades from the start of the story. I had two different mindsets:

1) The Twins knew that destroying the Time Blades would be able to free their powers. However, they needed their blades to power the Iron Demise (one set the Iron Doom, the other set the Iron Demise). Therefore, if they break the blades, they don't know if Borg's design of the Time Matrix -which they had never deviated from using- would still accept their powers directly. In which case they would be risking having to either a) abandon/rebuild the Iron Demise or b) fight with a clear advantage but leave themselves with a large weakness. So they decided not to test it.

2) The Twins weren't aware that breaking the Time Blades would return their powers. The only instance of breaking Chronosteel was Chen's staff, an event that they would likely not have known the full details of. Given their reaction to any other sets of themselves was to either manipulate or murder them to ensure no loose ends, even if one of their alternates had determined this fact, they likely would have been taken care of being being able to pass this information on.

Either way, I decided it wasn't a detail in the main story that I could really fit in without it feeling somewhat forced. The final battle was already so long that mentioning those two trains of thought would have distracted from my -in my opinion- already breakneck pacing.

I'm really, really glad to hear you enjoyed Chapter 109! It was certainly in the making for a long time. I spent many, many nights wondering exactly how to end that chapter. And indeed, I'm looking forward to your reaction to the Epilogues!

…so monty plays videogames right? is there by any chance, that he would/play undertale? ehehe~

and i hope you’re doing alright!

There's one point in the upcoming chapters that'll explicitly confirm that yes, Monty does play videogames, he does watch a lot of anime, and he is totally a nerd that would learn songs on his guitar from them. The song he played for Harumi was Fude Pen Boru Pen from K-On!, so yes, he would completely do it!

Also the bored expression on his face there would be exactly how he'd play a game like Undertale. The most emotional moment could happen and he has no reaction. Not to say that he isn't affected by it, just that he doesn't react in the moment. Especially if someone is watching him. That'd be the perfect way to mess with him!

Given the fact that Lulloyd plays piano, the two could totally do the duet together! Lulloyd plays piano, Monty the bass guitar, Mage the drums (or he'd pick it up incredibly quickly), Over the violin, and Harumi is a totally-not-idol that can sing and dance. All they need to do is coerce Lloyd into learning the electric guitar and they have themselves a band! An idea to consider!

Thank you for coloring that piece, Hwompy! Prime has always been a simple character, but you seem to really undersatnd him with your piece! I think it captures the duality of him perfectly!

A Dance of Darkness is a terrifying one, for you can only rely on your partner. Chapter 88 was one I loved writing, and I love the way you drew the two! Light and darkness can be more than opponents. I remember when I wrote the dance, I always knew the Overlord would take the role of being led in the dance, a sort of subversion to how his powerful visage is shown in show. Your artstyle lends itself so well to the unique energy of the moment!

I know I'd follow any of the AUs you create in a heartbeat, hwompy, I'm looking for all of them! Please let me know when you start posting them, I'll be happy to see!

Once again, I'm given the delightful privilege of seeing art from such a wonderful artist like you, hwompy! I think regardless of that, you did a wonderful job with all of it.

You really capture and understand Monty's vibe the best out of anything else I've seen. You always frame him really well, and the dual pistols alongside the SoS is indeed his signature look!

The piece you did with Prime is one I would love to see colored. I think you capture the tragedy there very well, the interplay between anger and regret, two things that define him as a character! Your attention to detail there with Akita is also incredibly appreciated.

And pieces like seeing them all with their musical talent inch closer and closer to the group becoming an idol band. One day it might happen!

And I will always, ALWAYS, appreciate good Jojo. Monty and Oni would definetly have a battle in that same vibe like that. And Oni's dominating, sheer presence works wonders for DIO in that iconic shot. Honestly that piece made my day!

Soo. I was wondering what each of the Lloyd's would sound like. And will you in the future be making information sheets for each character with a picture of them on the side?

So, to answer your second question first, I will be posting my documents I use to reference all the details (called Universe Bibles) when the fic is done!

I don't really have any canonical voices for them. The only tings I know is that Over's voice is much deeper, while Monty's is raspier and more abrasive. I assume that Harumi has a voice similar to MIsaka Mikoto, perhaps a bit gentler than her own, and aside from that, Lulloyd and Lloyd share their voices. Mage likely has the squeak and cracking voice that Lloyd had at the start of the show.

I have a question about Monty and his world. Are the main ninjas powers the same as the main au? Is Monty still biologically related to Garmadon and Wu? And I don't know if you posted Monty's age anywhere but how old is he/would he have been? I was thinking about making an au version of his world but I don't know much about the world. If you're okay with me making an au from your au. And my idea on Monty's romantic and sexual preference is that if he likes someone after he starts to get used to them he might maybe go with them on dates or just some outings and just hang out with them. I can see him having someone who is shy and doesn't mind if he's asexual and/or aromatic. I could tell you more about the au if you want to know more about it.

Yes, the main ninja in Monty's world are the same, and yes Monty is still biologicaly related to Wu and Garmadon. The major deviation (and Harumi hinted at this) is that Lloyd was born much earlier in the timeline, not too long after the Serpentine Wars. When he became Monty, he was about 17, and he was with Ronin for about 18 years at the time of Possession, so his body is 18 but in total he's 35. This is meant to be more of a 'swap' type AU, where essentially Morro and Lloyd 'swapped' roles in the story and I built it off that. So generally speaking, my answer with Monty's world is "Unless it involves Monty and Ronin directly, it's the same."

As for Monty's sexual and romantic preferences... that's something that I didn't really touch on in writing him, partially because it never came up. I interpret him in my own work to be asexual, but I also won't shut down anyone who wants to theorize about it.

You're welcome to write stories or ideas around in my AUs! As long as I'm given the credit for inventing them, I don't mind other people using them for inspiration! And you're welcome to let me know more!

I just want to point out that I died laughing several times going over the character descriptions. But "Twilight sparkle if she had daddy issues" just about broke me. I also give particular props to ANIMage, that is just, incredibly effective.

Prime would definetly be the type to pose on top of Invictus like that! And would probably make some big declaration before jumping back into the cockpit in its chest.

I really like how you portray OLIVE And Carnelian there, they do end up being the most important and the most fun for me to write! I also really like how you interpretted Pixal's outfit, it really helps convey the idea of how different she is from the normal Pixal that we know!

Souma I didn't put as much thought into, so you are all free to play with him! The Teen Band aesthetic would fit pretty well, actually.

Another Question for Followers

Greetings followers!

Tomorrow, I post Chapter 98 and Monday chapter 99, the end of the current arc to finally move into the climax of the story. As I mentioned before, the fic is now 110 chapters. Given that the last 10 chapters all flow into one another, I have a question for you! I will include this in an author's note tomorrow, but I wanted to give you all, the ones that have given me your time first and foremost, the opportunity:

Would you prefer that I post the last 11 Chapters of Ninjaverse (Chp. 100-110) daily, every two days, or biweekly as I have been doing so far?

I know that it would be a massive amount of work given to each of you to read all of that work. However, I also do'nt know if it would work very well to post them biweekly as I have.

I would love to hear your thoughts!
