shoutouts to Essek Thelyss who, seven years ago, didn’t have friends, barely had family (he trusted his brother but didn’t speak to him), who was cold and frustrated and selfish—who now has a family made up of his friends, who helps people he barely knows, who has reconnected with his brother such that they can rib each other without fear of the relationship souring, who has a home full of warmth and love.

shoutouts to Essek who is still awkward and abrasive at times, but who—even while living in secret—is more open and kind and willing to care.

when i was 14 i came out to a highschool teacher as transgender and i believe i was the first transgender person he ever talked to, and i suppose he panicked, because all he did was say "i think you should listen to little lion man by mumford and sons," and i did, and it changed my 14 year old mind, but i am still unsure what his intended message. he was cool with me being transgender though.

so telling to me how some of you would rather completely write off appalachian and southern states than extend compassion and solidarity to the poc and queer people who live here and lead lives just as valuable as anyone’s in a blue state. living under a nearly constant suppressive government is an uphill battle that i and those i am in solidarity with choose to fight every day and the results of the an election we showed up for despite the overwhelming odds do not mean we as a whole deserve to be discarded
