we heard leaks about Jericho Swain being Mel’s mentor in Iron & Chains, which is setting up to be an absolutely insane dynamic considering both of their histories. Leblanc and Vladimir are plotting on Mel’s downfall the moment she even step foot in Noxus. We still don’t know how Katerina, Darius and Elise tie into her future storyline from the season trailer. There are leaks about Rell possibly being related to the Medardas. It was confirmed Mel has a little cousin supporting her in Noxus.

You see hardly anyone really deep-diving and theory-crafting about these aspects of her character but the 500th coke ramble about how little she meant to her love interest and his partner, who are both dead, is still one of the most popular takes you see about her. Right.

another day another long-winded botched analysis of Mel’s character diminishing her importance to Jayce in order to prop up his relationship with viktor clogging up her tags. it’s really such a shame this fandom is like this because there are so many interesting ways to interpret the dynamic between the three of them (especially how much s2 dropped the ball on exploring what they established) but so many people can only evaluate characters and storylines through the lenses of shipping and it is. insufferable. and blatantly obvious because Jayce and viktor ended up more ideologically opposed to each other at a point than viktor and mel ever were, but for some reason delusional fans will have you believe they’re complete opposites. Especially when you consider Viktor’s lines in LoL to her, which are bittersweet at most.

im at the point where im just weary of hearing about any evaluation of Mel’s character in relation to Jayce and Viktor since this fandom is hellbent on mischaracterizing her to prove an unnecessary point. If the theory isn’t centered around MEL or her (possible) future relationship with other Noxian characters, I’m blocking people and protecting my peace.

every time I see people headcanon mel as straight it absolutely grinds my gears 😭 there is a perfect queer allegory set up between her and ambessa if you look at it as a queer adult struggling to gain her mother’s love and acceptance after being cast out for being different. she’s so bisexual to me I don’t understand why this isn’t discussed more

I will be pirating that ambessa book the moment it hits the 7 seas. There were already theories about Rell being involved in the story since s2, but seeing her show up + exploring the Medarda family dynamic + new Mel POVs + hearing there is a romantic relationship between women in the story…..need that

the first rule of making a mel medarda au is realizing that her core values of diplomacy and searching for peaceful solutions (however complicated or compromised they end up practice) will never change. the second rule is realizing she’s a social chameleon and absolutely WILL adapt to represent the flawless peak of whatever culture or situation she’s in to gain power. the third rule is that she will attempt to reconcile the first and second condition, and therein lies the central conflict of her character.
