TW: talk about medical stuff and docs gaslighting
So for years I’ve have problems with my blood sugars, specifically hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Doc really isn’t sure why because I’m not diabetic and no tests suggest that I’m pre-diabetic either. Because of that docs basically wrote me off as attention seeking (because obviously if I’m a female presenting person complaining about my health and the results aren’t easy to find I must be doing it for attention) when I would bring it up.
But now I have a new doc Whois taking me seriously and wants to actually see what’s going on. So they basically are having me track my food and drink as well as check and track my blood sugars at certain times (before eating, 1 hour after eating, ect). Hopefully this will give them a bit better idea of what’s going on.

Because some people seem to forget, let me say it again. Putting a vest on a dog does not make it a service dog!!!
Also where a team gets their gear from does not make them any more or less legitimate!
Tumblr media
This is a pic of Fae in her first vest. Yes this vest is from amazon. Yes amazon vest have a shitty reputation because usually these are the vests that fake service dogs wear. However, many owner trainers start with one of these. Some dogs will work their whole careers in amazon vests. As long as they are still task trained to mitigate their handlers disability, they are still a service dog.
Tumblr media
This is Fae in her more professional vest from a well known gear maker. Her wearing this does not make her any more legit than she was in the previous picture. She is still being trained to mitigate my disability. She just has a better looking vest on.

My retired service dog passed away last week. She was the best girl I could ever have asked for. Her time with me was short but full of love. I’ll miss you big girl.

My service dog is retiring and it sucks
Well after 2 years of training and a little more than 3 years of service, my service dog is being retired. A bump randomly appeared a week ago on her front leg that didn’t go away and after xrays and tests we found that she has an aggressive form of bone cancer.
So she is now retired and is going to be living out her last months in as much comfort as possible and she can break all the rules she wants. She even gets people food.
I have no prospect at the moment and am torn between focusing all my leftover energies (which ain’t much) on her or looking for a new prospect. I hate this. I really hate this.

Back to school for another semester with my furry guardian angel by my side. I’d been kinda stuck in my house all summer so it was the first time in months she was around so many people but she did great!

Being disabled can turn u into the mom friend against your will because you need this whole kit to get YOURSELF to a place and therefore you have all the emergency supplies whenever anyone else needs them. Do you want one of the seven different types of medicine I carry in my backpack at all times? Do you want a granola bar? Water? Ear plugs? Cambyses? Hand sanitizing wipe? Kleenex? A book about Yiddish revolutionaries?

Please reblog if:
•your anxiety has made it difficult for you to voice your opinion
•your anxiety has made it difficult to dress the way you want
•your anxiety has made it difficult to ask for help
•your anxiety has made you constantly worry if you are being annoying and wonder if your friends and family are valid relationships or if they just put up with you because they have to
And please know that you are not fighting this battle alone. You are worth more than your anxiety says. You matter and so does your opinion and your say. You are awesome

10 Second Rule For Dogs in a Heat Wave
Don’t forget your pups on this aweful heat wave. Not only is it important not to leave any animals or children in hot cars, it can get too hot to even walk your dog.
Remember the 10 second rule, if ou can’t keep your hand on the cement/pavement for 10 seconds, then neither can your dog. Don’t let your pup’s paws get burned, check the ground in the sun before walking your dog (or cat).
And don’t forget to keep your pets well hydrated too!
