One of the reasons I'll always stand by the 2013 Carrie remake is how it perfectly understands the psychology of a bully in the way few pieces of media do. The bullies in the original Carrie film adaptation, the one everyone praises, are cartoonish caricatures rather than real people, the all the interiority of Snidely Whiplash.
But in the 2013 movie you get to the scene where Chris Hargensen, the leader of the bullies, is brought into the principal's office and told that she'll not only be suspended, but banned from going to prom for how she and her pals bullied Carrie at the beginning of the movie, and the actress who plays her does this phenomenal job of conveying how, in Chris's mind, she's the victim. There's no cartoonish ranting or villainous monologuing, but rather a genuine outrage at a situation that she truly believes is unjust.
The actress and the movie both understand that in Chris's mind, she is entitled to torment Carrie - that her tormenting Carrie isn't just enjoyable, but a right that she has, a just and good thing for her to do because it the world is structured for her to do so, and that denying her that right is an injustice. The warped logic of the bully isn't "Haha I love being mean and evil," but rather, "When I hurt people, they deserve it and I deserve to enjoy doing it, because that is good and just."
And I think that's important because, like, we all have our Chris Hargensen moments. Every one of us has had a time where we felt entitled to be cruel, and recognizing that is important to being a better person. You can't let yourself fall into the trap of believing that your cruelty is always justified, or else Carrie is going to throw your car into a brick wall with you inside it.

Lunatone (and Solrock but I sent this in because of the Lunatone poll) propaganda: Weird! Space! Rocks!
They’ve both got nonbinary and vaguely yuri energy, maybe their relationship is romantic maybe it’s just queer but still they are sooo weird and gay about existing and I adore that for them

I feel like I remember cases of certain Pokemon like Pikachu and Jynx hatching already evolved without going through the "baby" phase of their lines, is that just a myth or does it depend on the circumstances?
that's just a misunderstanding based on how professor oak's first digital pokedex was designed. in his youth, oak was a phenomenal ecologist and also an accomplished trainer. this meant that he was able to travel the kanto region with his team and personally observe a great variety of wild pokemon. his pokedex, which became the first dex to contribute to the national pokedex project, contains information on all of the species of pokemon he personally encountered in his travels and studies. the two exceptions to this are mewtwo and mew, which he took a great interest in from an academic perspective and published several articles on despite not finding them before the creation of his pokedex.
the reason pokemon like pichu and smoochum don't appear in his dex is that he wasn't able to record information on them from wild encounters. back when he was first studying, pikachu were actually remarkably rare in kanto! the same is true of magmar, electabuzz, and jynx. because these pokemon's offspring are highly dependent on their parents, it can be hard to find them in the wild. seeing wild pichu was almost unheard of for a long time, because they rarely leave their nest before they're close to evolution! and the environmental extremes that some of these pokemon live in makes it even harder to find them in the wild, let alone their offspring.
so no, it's not that pikachu in kanto weren't hatching eggs with pichu in them back then. it's just that the man who first made the idea of a pokedex more accessible to trainers wasn't able to get observation data on them.

Shoutout to the guy with the white cane at the emergency access door who heard me say "hello sir" and just dropped his head, sighed, and went "this isn't the entrance, is it." Either you're going thru some shit or you're a very funny criminal doing his best and I appreciate that

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
