Old art I made for a brief attempt at making a suggestion-comic where people could vote and decide what the protagonist will do next, inspired by Homestuck, Awful Hospital and another comic a friend hosted in a discord server. It's interesting how many different ways of implementing reader input are! Going by concensus, picking a suggestion randomly, voting on suggestions, etc. Also, making comics is hard! I lost motivation due to not really having any direction and just improvising and stopped. Even then, my ADHD ensured that updates would be very slow anyway... Also it had a lot of VERY outdated worldbuilding so my setting is very different now anway (not that I seem to share much of it online so there isn't much of a point of reference, but yknow...)

I'm still fairly proud of some of it though, like the animation of the cat throwing the earpiece. It was a learning experience, and it made me respect comic artists a lot more. It takes some serious dedication to keep going with a project like that!

i always use tumblr in "following" mode but it seems to like sneakily switching me over to "for you" every once in a while. just to make sure i see the algorithm, i guess twitter used to do the same, randomly switching me to "top tweets" mode when i only ever used "chronological". it's annoying!

very annoying that tumblr is now insistent on shoving "community" posts into my dashboard. i dont want any of that! xkit has an option to hide them but it doesnt seem to work either!

social media sites are obsessed with showing me stuff i dont care about... all i want is stuff that was posted or reblogged by people i follow! ideally with an option to see only original posts/reblogs with actual additions!

but i always need to get like 2-3 extensions to make a site usable and it feels like the equivalent of putting on a hazmat suit.

Beelzy has pain-inducing powers that could make her a semi-formidable foe if she cared enough, but she's a bit of a slacker and will generally only put her all into something if she truly wants to. She can be a little sneak and a prankster but she deeply cares for Bub and his safety. Bub is one of the few people willing to be her friend.

Bub is an easily alarmed creature and tries to avoid confrontation the best he can. He has the ability to shoot acid from his trunk, though he hates having to use it on people, being the nicer of the two. Ideally, he would like himself and Beelzy to hide deep into a pile of trash with food and never be bothered by anyone who would want to hurt them.

Blazer Beetle - Final Fantasy IX

A big, round bug with scythe-like limbs and a big horn! It can cast fire magic and charge at its enemies! They are so cool! I love the slightly metallic carapace. The monster designs in Final Fantasy IX are pretty great overall, but this is probably my favourite.

If you backed the Mortasheen kickstarter four years ago (...but until this morning, I still thought it was three...) check your email or the project page. The digital prerelease version is available to all backers. It's 318 pages, with only around 10-15ish pages of extra stuff that will come in the physical version later this year. When that starts shipping to backers, the extra content will also be added to the digital release in a free update.

Digital should be available for the general public to buy in the coming months, and the physical version will be up for new preorders when the kickstarter run starts to ship out. We'll be trying to get it on the shelves of actual stores in at the end of the year or starting next year, even if only indie stores end up wanting to carry it.

This has eaten so much of my time that I went bald and started greying since the original announcement. Haha.

The core gameplay system was developed by Morgan Mullins, who doesn't use social media! I've still never fully learned all of the system myself, not having free time for gaming or even the right brain to memorize ttrpg mechanics, but @gutsygills did, and used that system to build and playtest each and every single last monster while revising and expanding the mechanics for the last year or two straight. Without her effort this release would still be nowhere in sight.

This TTRPG has been a project in development now since roughly 2010, and a world I've developed since almost 2001.

Everyone who wants to be able to buy it in at least some form should finally be able to by the end of this year, the 200+ kickstarter preorders just demand attention first.
