Now, I have no idea about what happened in Denver, but guys, DO NOT WASTE YOUR FOOD. There are tons of people out there who are hungry. I am sure everyone sees people in their neighborhood or in their city that has no home to go nor food to eat. If you really have that much money to waste just donate it. You can perhaps save a live with it.

The lately events triggered my green soul. So here’s a list for you if you don’t know what to do with food and when you buy it purposely to throw it on stage (food? Above all things, you think food deserves to be wasted like that?)

Eat it: literally throw it in your mouth.

Share it: you and your friends could throw it in your mouth

Donate your money to your local charities. They will help people from your town or states that can be struggling to buy food.

Did you forget we ARE in a pandemic still? Been through an economical disaster for 2 years now and it’s gonna last for awhile. People are and will be suffering for the consequences of it for a long time, psychologically and economically. Moreover, 47 countries will fail even to reach Low hunger status by 2030 — an increase of 10 countries compared to 2020’s report. That’s how the pandemic hit the most vulnerable countries: The long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are expected to include 30 million more people undernourished globally in 2030.

The latest events in the middle of Europe are shocking. It’s not the only war place in the world, but it’s a European capital under attack. It’s really scary and people are suffering from all things people suffer in war. (read this too: What the Russian invasion of Ukraine could mean for global hunger)

In my country, Italy, data show a waste of 529g (half a kg) of food EACH IN A WEEK. 36 kg pro capite per year.

Extremely frustrating as Palestinians watching the world stand in solidarity with The Ukraine and suddenly knowing how to use the word occupation.

and this one too. they let refugees fleeing a different war freeze to death in the middle of winter while the world turned a blind eye at the frozen corpses of children who were denied asylum and died because of it. this was happening as of two months ago as well, it’s not old news

i stand with ukraine, obviously.

i also stand with those who are calling out the blatant hypocrisy in how others in the same situation were treated, as well as those who are rightfully upset in the world’s support of and reaction to of one group of people but not others who have faced the same and much worse.

and before anyone jumps on this with ‘omg not appropriate right now’ or ‘stop comparing the two’, it’s entirely possible to stand with ukraine and the russians who are protesting the russian govt, while at the same time acknowledging that the world’s eurocentric response to this situation is extremely different to the response it gives other countries in places the western world declares are “backward”, and “uncivilized”

In case you have not heard many people from Ukraine are fleeing to Poland by train however Black people are being taken out of the trains and being told that refugee status is for Ukrainians, not Africans. The ones who have spoken out regarding their experience are literally students who are in Ukraine to attend university. Regardless of where they are from or why they are there, Ukraine is a war zone and understandably they want to leave. So far Nigerians who have gone to the embassy in Ukraine have been told not to panic, and have been given zero resources. I have not seen coverage of this yet and will link sources. (x,x) I will also link this video that shares more. What's worse is that Nigerians are walking to the border after being unable to get on trains and being rejected by Poland at the border.
