Nude No. 152 (1950) by fashion photographer Irving Penn (1917-2009) … bored with the traditional fashion models he photographed for Vogue, Penn deliberately sought out models with more to offer aesthetically. Unfortunately, after printing the shots, Penn’s industry peers didn’t find them as captivating as their creator, and they sat unpublished until this century, making the 20th Century’s loss the 21st Century’s gain.

Unlike most, a ball player must confront two deaths. First, between the ages of thirty and forty, he perishes as an athlete. Although he looks trim and feels vigorous and retains unusual coordination, the superlative reflexes, the major league reflexes, pass on. At a point when many of his classmates are newly confident and rising in other fields, he finds that he can no longer hit a very good fast ball or reach a grounder four strides to his right. At thirty-five, he is experiencing the truth of finality. As his major league career is ending, all things will end. However he sprang, he was always earthbound. Mortality embraces him. The golden age has passed as in a moment. So will all things. So will all moments. Memento mori.
— Roger Kahn, The Boys of Summer

gax is from an objective point of view one of the best 2025 rpf ships in the game and people are getting it WRONG. u CANNOT simplify this into your “Prim and Proper meets Bad Boy” breakfast clubtuation. u CANNOT be out here like “george scolds max for not being On Form and never swears.”
the crucial points to note before reducing gax like a sauce:
george russell loves nothing more than to take a stupid risk on-track. taking a stupid risk on-track is george russell’s passion. no matter where he is, no matter what he is doing, mentally he is always in a williams begging satan from hell to bring him forward into p18. he is carefully trying to beat that instinct out of himself with a stick but in his heart he is god’s own riverboat gambler. he is a cat burglar from a marx brothers movie about a cat burglary not going well.
max verstappen is a snitch. it is by pure luck of the draw that he is not the one with the memeable Fact! gif. he knows the rulebook the way bards in greece in 500 b.c. knew the iliad. he recites it at a similar volume. he doesn’t crash because he has no respect for the Law. he crashes because he has no respect for Death, Destroyer of Worlds. the distinction is crucial
people are constantly, constantly fooled by the fact that george talks like he learned english twelve days ago from movies about british naval officers dying in each other’s arms. but from this alone please understand. george russell would never to max verstappen say the phrase “what the heck”. he would say BUGGAH! on nearly all other fronts they are the same person at different aspect ratios. (*and on the fact that george would wear that fabulous pink sheer nightie with the fur sleeves.) do not Opposites Attract this ship at me. i know phoenix wright and miles edgeworth when i see them.

I was approached about doing an official poster for Brokeback Mountains 20th anniversary but in the end I didn’t hit the mark for them. But I was happy with it and will release my own prints of it in the near future. I think this is how I’d envision the movie actually ending.
From the start I had a complicated relationship with this movie. Even in 2005 I was tired of every queer person either dying of aids or violence on the television and movies. 20 years later I’m paintings the revised ending to this movie over and over again. Where the characters had the emotional intelligence to get out of these communities and find a life for themselves. Where they were honest enough men to face the fears and end their respective relationships with women they didn’t actually love. I understand the time and place of the movie was a different era but I’d love to see a cowboy movie with a happy ending some day.

just went through my hungary 2021 tag and truly an absurd amount of things happened in that race. bottas move of all time to wipe out both red bulls. lewis starting the race literally alone on the grid at the subsequent restart. ocon win. fernando alonso's single instance of being a good teammate. lewis almost fainting on the podium. classic charles head in hands dnf. george crying over scoring his first points at williams. seb's gay shoes, podium, and subsequent dsq. we used to be a real sport
#OCON WIN LMAO what a fucking time we had#f1 tag#it feels like several eras ago now#guess it kinda was.
