her first month anniversary with lime entertainment was nearing, and hyeran had a lot of feelings; a whirlwind, if you will. as an idol-hopeful, she knew that things would be different depending on where she was signed. the burn of being dropped from her previous company still stings, her youth and years wasted on a place that never had any concrete plans for her. however, it's a wound that only time will heal.
hopefully, it's a wound that will heal quickly enough.
it's when she walks into the small practice room designated for a special workshop that she locks eyes with another girl, a smile spreads across the other's familiar face, and hyeran greets her with the same.
"it's quite the coincidence," she mentions, deciding the seat next to claudine's is where she'll make herself at home. she leaves it at that, though. hyeran's not too curious about the details, just glad to see a familiar face in the sea of trainees.
"i thought this was the most interesting workshop out of our options this month," she admits to claudine, taking her chance to get a proper look of the room. "i'm always up for a challenge," she laughs, diverting her attention back to the other. "what about you? are you an mc in the making?"
hosting.
honestly, when she heard about the exclusive worshops that sr media is going to hold, she'd been rather jealous. after all, make-up is one of her greatest passions! furthermore, she's so curious to know how sr media comes up with their interesting and frankly groundbreaking concepts throughout the years. however, she has to accept the fact that she can't be a participant in those workshops because she isn't an sr media trainee. and now, she's determined to somewhat make sr media regret not signing her by being a valuable asset to lime entertainment itself. she has to start by getting rid of some of this pettiness!
that being said, she is marginally interested in the worskhop dedicating to hosting. while she never considered that career path, she knows that it's a possible future whether she becomes an idol or an actress—or both! she wonders how she would fare in that position, she thinks it's a role that requires quite a bit of improv skills, along with the natural ability to be quickwitted. either way, that's what she's signing up for this month. it's pretty exciting, all things considered.
what she hadn't expected, was running into @behyeran in the workshop suddenly! admittedly, claudine hadn't realized that hyeran became a trainee too, much less someone in lime entertainment, until recently. she'd been in her own hole, catching up to other trainees as someone who doesn't come from this sort of background. "oh my god, you're here!" claudine doesn't hide her surprise ( despite it being pleasant ), walking up to the other girl with a grin. "thank goodness, actually. i'm so glad you're here. see? it feels like fate brought us back together because of our photos!" besides, the two of them looked good there.
"so, interested in hosting?" she asks. "i feel like it'd be useful for us in the future, especially if we are lucky enough to get a hosting gig after debut!"

a smile spreads across hyeran's face as the stranger accepts the offer. she tries to be kind most of the time, but she's been burned before. she also knows that it's dark and a stranger approaching you, even during the holiday season, could set some people on edge.
"of course, it's really no trouble at all," she reassures the other girl before getting into position and snapping a few pictures. "really, you look so well put-together! your outfit caught my eye and i just wanted to make sure you had enough pictures to remember the occasion," hyeran tilts the phone sideways to ensure that there are enough options for the girl to choose from when she inevitably, like all girls her age, will post on social media.
"are you sure we should take a picture together?" hyeran asks, handing the phone back. "i'm afraid i didn't put in as much effort as you did into my own costume," she gestures to her all black outfit, no costume in sight.

hyeran walks throughout the streets like a ghost. going at this alone was a bad idea at best as she finds herself overstimulated and drained by the people buzzing about around her. indeed, she's quite the debbie downer with too much on her mind and not enough energy to participate in the festivities.
the shop lights catch her eye, each one decorated for the season. it's nice and hyeran wonders whether her mother will let her decorate their apartment if she brings home a few trinkets. a fake pumpkin or a spooky garland would look nice near their fireplace.
there's a clearing in the crowd and she notices a girl taking a selfie. she's dressed properly for the occasion, and hyeran can't help but smile. her legs, seemingly having a mind of their own, walk to approach the other. she makes herself known with a wave, hoping the girl is friendly enough to hear her out.
"i saw noticed were taking a selfie," she mentions casually. "do you want me to take a picture of you with your whole outfit? you look so good, it'd be a waste if you didn't get any pictures of it tonight."

"really?" she asks, resuming her search through the racks. minsoo's point seems to be proven, however, as hyeran notices the problem she's been having with all the costumes, why she's been turning her nose up to them. "never mind, i see what you mean," she says sighing when she comes across an outfit that's seemingly just a corset top. "half of these look like they don't have pants; i'm not sure why i hadn't noticed until now."
she listens to all the options he gives her, but hyeran is starting to feel defeated. she tries to divert the attention from herself to her companion, trying to ensure he finds a costume before her.
"race car driver?" her arms cross and she looks over at minsoo to see what he's picked out. "i wonder if we could find you a vintage jacket if that's what you're set on for halloween? it'd be better quality than whatever all these outfits are made out of, i'm sure."
"is it the trend to dress up like vegetables and fruits? i'm pretty sure i've seen a lot of banana costumes on social media recently."
"doesn't hurt to ask," minsoo says under his breath, laughing at the blunt reaction. he expected nothing else from hyeran though, and it makes sense that she'd stay true to herself during the holiday - no special excuses to erm, ham it up, he supposes. "i mean, if we dress something up as blatantly not couple-y, i am sure people will understand that we aren't. but i get it, i'm sure there's others who are going too. big group costume... not revealing. surprisingly, i think that limits us to about 25% of the shop when it comes to female costumes, so its either going to be a big good luck, or dress up as a nun, maybe. don't worry, i won't go matchy-matchy on you for that."
one of the guys was hosting a party that minsoo was probably going to attend, but at this point maybe he could just pretend to be a lookism character or something-. ordinary, ordinary. generic. effort-less. "animal ears, heavier makeup than usual, cute." minsoo holds out a vampire costume. "one among many, but you could make yourself super glamorous and enhance the ice princess vibes." not that he's implying anything, and he goes through the other costumes, taking a detour to look at the male costumes. harry potter was so boring, and there were so many superheroes. ah yes, one of 10 other spider-men, cool. but he'd rather not be masked up anyway. "oh i could be a racecar driver, that doesn't sound like trash..." he tries to sift through some of the sizes to see if there was one that fit him. oh god, the way he actually felt excited about it. he hadn't expected that, but he did want to look decent.
"i didn't realize there'd be so many joke costumes. who really wants to be an eggplant?"

halloween.
hyeran hadn’t thought about the holiday much. she didn’t have plans, well, not concrete plans, anyways. maybe attend a party or two, she hadn’t given her friends a definitive answer yet.
she’ll need an outfit, though. it’s pretty much required. but what to wear? that’s the question of the day.
she’s distracted rifling through the hangers at the pop-up store, seemingly too many options. does she go with a classic, timeless piece? a black cat, maybe? a pumpkin? a scarecrow?
maybe hyeran should dress as a popular character instead. again, too many options. she’s lost in thought but hears minsoo’s voice calling out to her.
“hm?” she says, looking up. it takes her a moment to process his words, but she begins to speak before he has a chance to clarify. “if we match, would people mistake us as a couple?” hyeran raises an eyebrow. “maybe if we went as a group we could all get matching costumes. who else is going again?” she asks, looking back down at the rack in front of her, already forgetting what costumes she had gone through.
she lets out a laugh at his next comment.
“you’re joking, right?” she looks up at him again. “probably like, a two,” hyeran tells him firmly.
twilight.
minsoo isn't typically one to celebrate halloween, but this year, he's been getting egged on to participate. so now that's what finds him and hyeran here, trying to find something worthwhile to dress up in. and they're here early too, there are weeks left into the end of the holiday. maybe he's taking it too seriously. but if not, he's going to end up bailing out of these 'themed halloween parties'. one of the stores they're in seems to be a pop up for halloween costumes, but some of these prices are obnoxious for the things they're getting. ( he'd much rather spend this where it'd be utilized on a daily basis or weekly. not a one time throwaway. ) "do you have any idea of what you actually want to dress up as? i know they did say costume mandatory but at this rate we might get better deals of those online shops... if they get shipped in time."
"okay.... would you actually want to attend in matchy matchy ones?" and while minsoo isn't against attending a party by himself, he prefers going with someone he already knows. "or... okay, maybe if you find something that you think i should try, and vice versa, we can try them on in the fitting rooms," which could also be bound for a fun afternoon, or at least, and hopefully bring something back. "okay, on a scale of 1 to 10, how revealing are you okay with?"

━━ chuseok 2024◞ chuseok ‘24 headcanon.· ( wc: 127 )
holidays with hyeran's family have always been interesting to say the least.
there's a fairly large get together, with everyone from her mom's side of the family congregating at her grandparents house. there's a mandatory photoshoot with everyone dressed in traditional attire. everyone looks their best and pretends that they're the best, most tight-knit family.
hyeran knows better.
while she tries to avoid her mother and instead hang out with some of her cousins that are close in age with her, she can't help but hear the older woman's constant complains. even without the presence of alcohol, she's drunk on a series of emotions.
she'll likely never forget the past, nor forgive hyeran.
though she winds up going home with her belly full, her heart stays empty.

━━ dreamwave audition◞ callback .· ( wc: 497 )
"look at that," her mother beams, reading the email off of hyeran's phone. "you have a callback, that's a good thing. i wish it was an offer but," she sighs, shaking her head. "i guess this time it's going to be a bit harder to get in, isn't it?"
her mother rented out a studio space for her to practice. truthfully, hyeran should be grateful that the other supports her dreams this much. though, is it really her dream? or is it just what her mother wants for her.
the idol wannabe knows deep down that her mother is just living vicariously through her, pushing this dream to be a singer upon her daughter because she never got her own five minutes of fame and blames it on hyeran.
'her birth ruined everything,' is something she grew up hearing her mother say to her family and her friends.
she forces these thoughts, these memories to the back of her mind while she practices. hyeran has a goal, to receive a contract, and she's going to perform at her absolute best. she's talented, this much she knows. the confidence exudes from her even when she's just standing still.
the days go by in a flash and suddenly hyeran is no longer staring at herself in the mirror but staring at three judges sat behind a long, white table in front of her. they have papers in front of them and she wonders whether it's for them to take notes on. there's a camera set up as well, one she's acutely aware of. she wonders if it's recording now, before her audition has even begun.
although there's a thought to create something original, something new, hyeran decides against it. she's not going to pretend like she's this generation's best singer-songwriter, or as if she has an inkling of what to do when it comes to choreography.
besides, her mother has explicitly discouraged her from fighting the mold too much.
instead, hyeran settles on performing a cover of YunA's better, but not a boring one. she adds her own flair to the song with unexpected, practiced, ad-libs. in the studio, she focuses on her facial expressions, ensuring that her features match the lyrics and timing of the song.
"hello," she greets the judges, chipper. "my name is jo hyeran and i'll be performing a cover of better, by yuna," she makes eye contact with each of them, big smile on her face. "thank you for taking the time to watch me perform today. i've worked hard on my performance and i hope it's one you'll remember for a while."
with a few deep breaths, she readies herself. a minute isn't a terribly long time, so hyeran has to make her impression fast. she fills the room with her energy, compensating for the lack of backup dancers. her voice is booming, reverberating against the walls. she exudes confidence and has clearly practiced her routine ensuring it's polished, and more importantly, perfect.

━━ dreamwave audition◞ audition tape .· ( wc: 531 )
‘you need to take this opportunity,’ her mother tells her sternly. ‘and don’t screw it up this time. you were so lucky to get in to your uncle’s company and now look at you,’ she says with a sneer. ‘back to auditions, back to the bottom,’ the older woman sighs and shakes her head. ‘what am i going to do with you, hyeran.’
the girl’s eyes have been directed at the floor the entire time, listening to what her mother would call a ‘pep talk.’ hyeran is used to this by now, the words going in one ear and out the other. she doesn’t take it to heart - she can’t afford to anymore.
she stands smiling in front of the camera, back flush against the white wall of her bedroom. hyeran is ready for her audition, prepared. once the camera indicates that it’s started to roll, she begins to speak.
“hello!” she says in a cheerful tone, making sure the smile reaches her eyes. “my name is jo hyeran and i’m ready to ride this wave,” she giggles at the play on words, hoping she didn’t come off too cringe-worthy.
DREAM COMPANY:
“dream company? that’s a tough question, isn’t it?” her head tilts to the right as she pretends to ponder. hyeran has had her answers memorized since early this morning. “each company under axis labels has it’s own strengths. i would say each company has it’s own signature thing that draws people in.”
“for me, if i had to pick,” she takes another moment to ponder. “i would pick lime entertainment! i’m a big fan of their artists: yuna, nana, prizm. it’d be amazing to train under the same company as them.”
PREVIOUS MUSICAL EXPERIENCE:
“i have quite a bit of musical experience,” she tells the camera. “as a child, i was in a children’s group. we had a youtube channel where we would post singing and dancing covers, as well as some variety content, i guess?” hyeran laughs. “i’m not sure exactly what you would call it, but the channel is still active today with another generation of members.”
“i took singing and dancing lessons growing up and well into my teens. i still take lessons these days, actually, a couple times a month. i was actually a former trainee before leaving the company earlier this year.”
SKILLS
OTHER TALENTS:
“trot singing? i know for some it might be a bit old fashioned, but shows like ‘mr trot’ have popularized it these days. my mother, also, was a trot singer. i learned from her! she’s actually the source of my inspiration, why i want to be an idol,” there’s a tone in hyeran’s voice that even she can’t pinpoint.
FAVORITE ARTISTS
“i already listed some of them off earlier: yuna, nana, prizm,” hyeran takes the liberty of telling the camera her favorite artists again. “but i like to listen to a lot of different genres and i’m always trying to listen to new artists. there’s a foreign singer who’s been blowing up overseas lately, sabrina carpenter. i’ve been listening to her music a lot these days.”
of course, she ends her interview with a smile and a big thank you, hoping that something will come of this endeavor.

in this light, hyeran looks like she's holding the weight of the world on her shoulders. she's seated with a slight hunch, eyes glazed over staring at the wall. there's a million thoughts, a million questions, a million what-ifs, flittering through her mind. more specifically, a conversation between the girl and her mother replays itself over and over again in her head.
it's truly a wonder how she managed to hear the stranger's voice when they approached, too lost in her own thoughts. hyeran sits up straight, acutely aware of her posture and greets the other with a soft smile. it takes a few seconds for the words to fully process, but once she understands she can't help but shake her head.
"no, there's no one with me today," she tells the other honestly. although she's a bit wary getting approached like this in public, the other girl at the very least seems harmless. besides, hyeran can take care of herself. "i don't mind. i could use the company, actually," she laughs, hoping that she doesn't come off as overdramatic or needy.
a starter for @behyeran ( something ain't right )
it's on the tip of her tongue. or the edge of her brain-- whatever the saying is. yuji's tapping a rhythm in her head, following the faint line of a melody that she's been working on. it's distracting her for the most part, a form of procrastination in an effort to avoid having to get up. half-focused on the melody, half wondering if she should leave for the rest of the day or go get another drink and work this melody out.
her eyes are motion around the room, glazing over the patrons mindlessly, eyes falling on one in particular. she's tall, pretty-- her features giving yuji a startling sense of familiarity. yuji blinks, attention from the melody momentarily distracting her as she tries to place the recognition to a face.
she's distracted. and now she has to know. yuji gives herself a little sigh, a small pep talk, before she's gathering up her things and moving seats. yuji's destination set on finding out how she knows this girl. she just has to-- there's just a feeling.
"hi," yuji calls out hesitantly, coming to a stop by the girl's seat at the coffee bar with a smile. "do you mind if i sit here?" she motions to the seat. "or is there someone else with you?"

౨ৎ ━━ NOEL
noel absolutely loved making new friends, lately that wasn’t something he had done much though. though he had at last finished school, he thought would have more free time, his newly found time was just used on practice instead. he was always either working or practicing, seeing the same faces quite a lot and not having the time to see other faces. he’d at last found time in his schedule for waterbomb, meeting with a lot of friends he hadn’t seen in a while and making new friends. he’s looking at his phone, which now, doesn’t seem like a good idea, he should’ve stood still and used it rather than looking at it as he walks through the crowd. it’s first when someone falls in front of him that he finally looks up from his phone. he’s quick to put it away, eyes opening quite a bit in surprise. he reaches out a hand to help the other up “are you okay? i’m so sorry, i wasn’t looking where i was going.”
"i'm okay," she reassures the stranger, reaching out for their hand. hyeran is thankful for the help, giving them a big smile when she finally stands up. her hands go to brush the grass off of her, feeling embarrassed.
"i wasn't looking where i was going either," she admits sheepishly. "that's what i get for being addicted to this thing," hyeran chuckles, waving her cell phone in the air. "i should put it away and, how does the saying go? enjoy the moment?" another laugh bursts from her lips.
"anyways, thanks for helping me up, and i'm sorry for bumping into you," she tells the other earnestly. "is there anything i can do? buy you a water, maybe?"

getting lost in the crowd wasn't how she pictured spending her time at the festival. hyeran finds herself abandoned, irritated, at her friends. cell service is apparently a joke here. there's no one she can call and can only hope to magically meet up with them at the next stage.
she ponders her options, eyes glued to her phone as she walks through the crowd. her shoulder brushes up against someone else's and hyeran unceremoniously falls to the ground. she's cushioned by the grass at least, but she finds herself still feeling sore after the collision.
"sorry," she calls up to the stranger, starting to push herself off the ground. "my fault! i can be pretty clumsy sometimes."
