It appears Beetlejuice maybe hinted as being Italian in his human life.
Can’t say 100% but that’s my theory from what the two mentions of Italy and Italian food in the original and then I was told the dubbed language Beetlejuice is speaking is Italian.
The Black Plague hit there as well, so it maybe the unofficial canon of the location of his death.

Had a thought for a random theory that it’s possible that Beetlejuice spells his name in his ads and commercial Betelgeuse cause he can’t physically spell it like he can’t say it?
The other theory was he’s named after the star and spelt the same due to time period. But evidence counts against that due to in the original he says he lives through the Black Plague.
So 1346 is the date given for the Black Plague.
The star Betelgeuse is listed as discovered in 1836.
This making impossible for him to be named after the star unless he was later given the name as a curse. Which who knows maybe given reason in the sequel for his name curse.
Most likely his name was Beetlejuice or called that and his ex wife cursed him.
Anyway, it seems more likely now he can’t spell it the way it’s meant to be spelt due to the curse as well.
Otherwise he’d have spelt it as pronounced and the Maitland’s would have said it correctly the first time they saw the flyer or he could have spelt it for Lydia.
In the musical the spelling is made into a joke that he can’t spell and it takes him more then once to spell it correctly so the Maitland’s can then say it themselves.

Each new clip I see with Delia from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice I feels she’s become a much more understanding and better mother to Lydia while still being her creative out there self.
I think she learned from the first movie and grew to be a better person and mother.
Probably learned from Barbara as well.

I’m getting a feeling that Delia isn’t gonna survive til the end of the movie and that’s why she’s in the neitherworld.
She perhaps tries to protect her granddaughter and gets killed or taken if anything and leaves it so Lydia doesn’t know what happened unless there’s a note or something and calls Beetlejuice for help.
At this point I’m not sure of Rory.
He comes off as a sleezy man that perhaps Lydia fell in love with and had her daughter that way after perhaps a night of carelessness or he didn’t show that side of himself until later in marriage and so on.
In anyway, I have a feeling he’s her ex husband or partner and gets roped in.
Perhaps Delia introduced them or Lydia met him in her own art circle.
I know not many like the ship, but as Lydia is of age in this movie, I’m sort of hoping her and Beetlejuice form a relationship, even if a friendship.
I always loved the cartoon series for their friendship and liked the idea of when Lydia got older she had the option of Beetlejuice as more than a friend. Like during or after college sort of thing.
Any time before that I saw them like in the cartoon and musical as friends and the wedding as a green card as Beetlejuice says.
In the original concept for the movie that’s very different, but in what we got I never saw Beetlejuice being sexual towards her.
We see him do so towards everyone but her, and same comes across in the musical.
I am wondering if we’ll be seeing a similar moment like the musical of Beetlejuice rising and taming a sandworm and becoming the hero, but taking out his ex wife instead of his mother like in the musical.
Will he actually finish getting married to Lydia and come to life and be betrayed as well?
We do see him dancing with Lydia in a floating dance, but is that after or before the ceremony?
Hard to tell what will happen, were inspiration comes from and so on.
I’m looking forward to something interesting either way seeing Seth Grahame-Smith attached as a screenwriter.
I’ve enjoyed both Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter Novels and the movie. He produced the It movies which I loved. He wrote for Darkshadows, not the best movie, but it was still another interesting Tim Burton Movie.
I never read his book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but the movie was interesting as well.

Think ghosts will show up on cellphones?
We see in ads for Beetlejuice 2 that ppl at the wedding have their phones on and recording.
Think anything will show up or will like when Lydia tried with traditional photography, nothing will show up?

BEETLEJUICE 2 Theory…
I wonder if Beetlejuice skipped out on the waiting room 35 plus years ago.
Here’s my theory why, when we see the shrunken head guy in the 2nd trailer he’s wearing Bee’s suit and then is being yelled at by William Defoe’s character on where Beetlejuice is.
What if at the end of the first movie when he got his head shrunk, he used that as a way to switch with the shrunk head ghost?
Both have tiny heads and he’d just juice up a suit on the guy before fleeing.
Shrunk head ghost can’t talk so to his mouth stitched shut and so would be just sitting in the lobby unable to say what happened or alert anyone.
William Defoe’s ghost I am also theorizing isn’t a social worker, but some form of law officer.
We know in life he was a detective, but we don’t know for sure how he died yet.
We do see his skull and part of his face bone exposed so it was a head injury.
My guess upon seeing him is he blow his own brains out and was made to work in law enforcement in the Neitherworld as he was already trained.
That or someone shot or bashed him in the head and he chose to keep working and joined Neitherworld law enforcement.
If he he is a social worker though, then he did kill himself in some manner head related.
Why I guess law enforcement is Beetlejuice did do something I would say is taboo and possibly illegal by trying to marry a breathing living person.
If it wasn’t illegal then every ghost would be trying it.
In the end, he either escaped early on or later and had been in hiding until he can go after Lydia.
I also wonder if he’s technically still legally married to his last wife. We know he was previously married and it is speculation if not very probable that the new actress looking for Bee is said wife.
She has a missing ring finger, which Bee had a finger and a ring in the first movie.
From the looks of her, she may have taken something to the head that killed her as her face has stitching.
My speculation is she may have been axed in the head.
The questions though, was she alive or dead when she lost her finger and was she alive or dead when she married Beetlejuice?
Will his infidelity be the reason he was cursed by the three name call?
We were hinted that we’ll learn more about Beetlejuice’s past and I wonder if we’ll learn about his death and maybe his life.
I’ve often questioned if he killed himself or not. We know he worked with Juno, but he freely left his job with her and started his business.
Does that mean he joined social work willingly at death and became bitter and raged against the system or was he forced and found a loop hole or reached the end of sentence?
I imagine he couldn’t have met the end of sentence as we see Juno was still working in social work and was his senior.
Manner of death as well has always been a question. Though he may have looked very different as a newly dead and changed his looks and behavior later on.
We see he has a skill with spinning his head, so could be decapitation.
Juno most likely slit her throat as we see smoke come from her neck.
If not decapitation it may have been poison, drowning or hanging.
We see no physical markings on him to indicate anything brutal happened to cause his death.
We see sunken dark circles around his eyes, pale complexion and moss.
This could be he drowned or was left somewhere moist after death.
Possibly a swamp or forest?
If he hung, then he likely suffocated and didn’t die instantly from a broken neck, though you’d think he’d have a rope around his neck.
Poison you’d think he’d possibly have foam or vomit around his mouth or on his clothing. Though he easily changes his clothing and looks, so it’s hard to say.
If we take into consideration he may have been married in life, and take in the clues, he may have been a Blue Beard type.
I say this as if he may have killed his wife in life and if he was a captain of a ship, perhaps his ship went down in storm and he drowned.
We know that the ghosts that drown don’t stay wet after death and look normal.
But what if a body is left to rot where it died? Does that affect the ghost form?
In Crimson Peak I’ve had the theory that the ghosts can choose their form depending on emotions.
If they wish to frighten they take upon the form of their bodies current state in death. Showing how far they’ve rotten as well as their manner of death.
They can also look unharmed and change their clothing to their liking as well.
Why I wonder if Beetlejuice could have hidden his cause of death.
Though I bring up the idea of him as a Blue Beard type, I don’t really feel he is the type to actually try and kill anyone.
We see him torment and injure, but not kill.
He enjoys watching the fear alone.
One could say he killed the Deetez’ friends during his circus weighted hammer show, but I highly doubt it. He’s all about physical comedy and causing horror.
They likely survived, but injured all the same.
It could be he was killed and that was related or not to his wife.
We’ll just have to wait and see.

I’m so excited they’ve started filming Beetlejuice 2, but at the same time worried until it’s in theaters that it’s really happening.
I didn’t get to experience the first movie in theaters being born in ‘89, but grew up on the tv show and then the movie.
Cause of my grandma I had one of the toys but he disappeared over the years. It was the one with the snake version with it and the removable caracole head with his shrunken head underneath.
I’ve always wanted to get a Funko of Beetlejuice and Lydia, but they’ve either not looked the best or the version I wanted was a limited one that sold out.
It does make me wonder if the popularity of the musical helped push the sequel forward.
It’s been in production hell for so long.
I haven’t really seen who the current screenplay writer or writers are on it.
Last I had heard Tim had Seth Grahame-Smith of Abraham Vampire Hunter working on it.
Not only is much of the cast returning, but also Danny Elfman as composer.
I’m curious to see if they change some ghost rules or update them for the modern times. Like film couldn’t catch ghosts, but can digital?
Google how to summon a ghost or exorcise it.
Filters catch ghosts.
Modern horror like Saw desensitizing people of ghosts all the more or increasing the scares for them.
And So on.
