Becari Conzatti update/ October 2021
We are fine in Oaxaca. Now we are in color green!!! This is how COVID looks in Mexico and it will be like that until October 17:
📷

1 state in Orange 22 states in yellow 9 states in green 0 states in red And Oaxaca looks like this:

Vaccination: Almost 40 of Mexican population has been vaccinated. In Oaxaca, people from 18-30 years old are waiting for the second dose. Children between 12-17 years old are going to be vaccinated if they suffer of an illness like: heart problems, diabetes, etc. About 36 children between 12-17 years old have been vaccinated in Oaxaca already since a lawyer represented them and won a legal protection, so the government was forced to vaccinate the children. Regarding the city and life in Oaxaca: Fall started and it is a little bit cooler. Sometimes windy, and people in Oaxaca said: "Souls of the Dead people are arriving in Oaxaca and that´s why it is windy" Day of the Dead is coming and for the second time it seems everything will be cancelled… However, all the oaxaqueños will celebrate it somehow. Oaxaca will be very soon full of “Catrinas” (female elegant skeletons) and “calaveras” (skulls). All the streets, business and houses will have at least some ornaments reminding us this celebration. Without any doubt, it is one of the most important celebrations for us in Oaxaca and Mexico. You can smell it and feel it in the air. Pan de muerto (Bread of the dead) in the markets, mole, tamales, flor de muerto, it is just something I can not describe. My family is getting ready to set up our “Altar de muertos” at our house and we will also have one altar in Becari Conzatti. It is just exciting to get ready for it. We have to think were we are going to have it and how we are going to decorate it. We will set the altar up at the school in memory of our beautiful Spanish teacher Monica, our adorable weaving teacher Sra. Eufrosina and our lovely lady who used to work for us in the Temazcal, Sra. The altar in our house is for my father, my father in law, my brother in law, my uncle Enrique, my sister Betty, my American Mom and Dad, my dear friend Jodi (founder of Centro de Esperanza Infantil), Mr. Lael Johnson (Who was an angel for our Oaxaca children) and to all my friends and relatives that are not with us anymore. Here are some pictures of the city and our altars from last year:

Regarding the school: We are happy we have some students back. Susan and Warren have come to our school for 15 years. We love them and we are very thankful for their friendship. Helen, Judy and Jim are also coming back in October. They were our last students when the pandemia started and our first students when they were able to travel. Thank you! We can not wait to see them! We will have some especial classes for the Day of the Dead as cooking classes, decoration of Skulls (alebrijes), lectures about the Day of the Dead, join us if you can! Our Becari Conzatti family is growing and we we are so lucky because we always get the nicest people in the whole world! Thank you to all our new students online or in person! We have students from England, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Russian and the United States. And thank you to our students who continue with lessons online, who have recommend us and who have became part of our family. All the teachers and myself are so grateful with you all! Our websites: www.becariconzattionline.com www.becariqr.com Here are some pictures of our classes last week:

Follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Regarding Centro de Esperanza Infantil: “Despensas” are going to be ready for our families in October. We will try to keep them as healthy as possible. Thank you Pete Noll and Tash Inc. for the big donation. Thank you to CANFRO and everyone who continue supporting all of our families and the Despensas project. Most children are not going to school yet. It seems families need some extra money to pay for Internet. If you wish to help, you can send a donation for Internet expenses. They need to pay between 300-500 pesos per month but it is a lot for them. Muchísimas gracias, www.oaxacastreetchildren.org

Abrazos a todos,

Becari Conzatti update/Oaxaca/September 2021
I hope all of you, your families and friends are healthy and safe.
We are fine, but we have had more cases of COVID now than when we were in red.
We are in color “Orange” until this weekend, they will let us know if we move to another color:
Naranja/ Orange Reducción de movilidad comunitaria/ Reduction of movilityLa operación de actividades económicas y sociales serán con un aforo del 50%/ Everything open with 50% of capacity.El modelo educativo funcionará bajo la nueva normalidad de acuerdo a lo establecido por la SEP/ Schools open this weekEl uso del cubreboca es obligatorio en todos los espacios públicos/ Masks are required Only one state is green: Chiapas. And 7 states in red! The numbers of cases in Oaxaca yesterday: 613 new cases. 151 in the city of Oaxaca.
And the city looks like this:
We have had a lot of rain, the city in the early evenings looks quiet and empty. You can see more people in the mornings. Mexican flags in many places and the Zocalo is ready for Mexican Independence. We do not think it will be a celebration, but we never know. And the school: We have very few students face to face, but we are open. Almost all of our teachers got their first dose of the vaccine which is great! They were vaccinated with Astra Zeneca vaccine and they are waiting for their second dose. Only two of our teachers got Covid, but they are fine now! Most Elementary schools in Oaxaca did not open, they say they do not have the conditions to open, no water, not sanitizing gel, etc. so they are going to wait a little bit more. Some schools open and we will see how it goes. We had a few graduations: Students from Switzerland, Russia and France. Right now we have about 4 students in total in person, but we continue with our lessons and courses online. We are going to start soon a new course for Social workers in October, so if you know someone might be interested, you can share this with them:
You can also visit our websites: [email protected] or becariconzattionline.com And you can follow us on facebook: Becari Conzatti and Becari Conzattionline. or Instagram: @becariconzattilanguageschool Centro de Esperanza Infantil:
The patio at the Center. This is how the center looks like. The patio in the middle and the fountain with the little Angel on the top. The little angel represents to me all the people that have been helping the center all this time. Thank you all of you again for your support and for helping our children, I just do not know how else I can express you my gratitude. We will start soon with the “despensas” again since the economic situation is getting worse and worse all the time. And our children will continue struggling with lessons online and very few will go to school to have classes face to face. They are getting their shoes and tennis shoes this week: You can check our website at: https://oaxacastreetchildren.org Let me know if you have any other questions. And send me a note when you have time. Abrazos y todo mi agradecimiento,
