Consider: a warlock whose patron is patreon. A crowdfunded warlock. Every magic being whos interested in bankrolling the shitshow can add a little to the pile.
They’ve got a little milestone list and reward tiers and everything. For just one invocation a month this warlock will literally murder one person of your choosing on every full moon. That’s a bargain!
Gods, fiends, fey, and beings from beyond all welcome to donate today!

i wish bards weren’t turned into the jokey silly class of thots, for zero reason other than the fact that i cannot comprehend them being able to cast power word kill

hot tip if you wanna play a warlock or another high charisma character but have an irl charisma of like 10:
there’s more than one kind of charisma. the default always seems to be “suave ladykiller/casanova who can and will knowingly manipulate people and do it with a sly smile”, but that’s not the only kind.
i play a 20 charisma warlock who is… none of those things. she’s kind of shy and easily flustered but she IS extremely good-hearted and kind, and she radiates a certain kind of aura that just makes people want to like her and trust her because they can tell she’s a good person.
don’t feel boxed in by traditional portrayals of charisma and let it scare you away from playing classes you’re interested in.

More Dungeons & Dragons courtroom drama adventure seeds:
The Sword of Evil’s Bane has been claimed by multiple Chosen Ones, each citing equally plausible but mutually exclusive interpretations of the relevant prophecy
A family haunted by an evil ghost that’s sworn to bedevil them unto the tenth generation have gone through an acrimonious divorce, and are now embroiled in a bitter custody dispute over the ghost – each side of the family wants the other to take it!
A farmer is suing a tree for property damage caused by the tree’s roots; the tree argues that, as the damage occurred prior to its awakening by an itinerant druid, it cannot be held responsible, while the farmer cites an obscure local case in which an axe was convicted of murder as precedent that sapience is immaterial to culpability
The tomb guardians of the Once and Future King Who Abides in Deathless Slumber Beneath the Mountain’s Roots Until His People’s Hour of Need Calls Him Once Again have filed trespassing and noise complaints against a dwarven mining operation; the dwarves argue that, as the Once and Future Etc. is clearly dead, he has no legitimate claim, while the tomb guardians insist he’s just resting
Through a series of unlikely misadventures, a kind-hearted but unlucky peasant has promised her firstborn child to two witches, three demon lords and a pixie; subsequent claimants grant that the earliest bargain must take precedence, but demand alternative relief on the grounds that the peasant entered into the additional bargains in bad faith, while the peasant asserts that none of the bargains stipulated that access to the child would be exclusive

i fucking love whenever someone tweets a game design question at the d&d 5e creators and jeremy crawford gives them a nice, professional response aimed at answering their query while mike mearls’ reply is just. a shitpost
