Here's my new keyboard! It's a Keychron V6 in Frosted Black, fitted with Kailh BOX V2 Brown tactile switches and XVX Pudding PBT keycaps. It is super satisfying, with just the right amount of finger-feedback while not being obnoxiously noisy. (I really don't get the appeal of loud keyboards. I have no need to announce to everyone on the block when I'm typing.) At 1365 grams, it's also nearly three times as hefty as the Walmart special I was using before. The whole build cost about $120, a damn good deal given the extensive level of functionality and customization.

Now, it's time for me to go far too deep into the rabbit hole of tweaking every possible aspect of my typing experience!

I'm still looking for more ways to add purple to this setup, but I think we're getting there. Once I get some lavender spray paint, it's over for my Stream Deck and a few other items. I really love how the washi tape turned around my monitor!

first thoughts:

this is a t h o n k y board

i cannot understate the thonk

not too thrilled at the keyfeel, I'm either too used to my half-height nuphy switches or this is a really mushy board

now i can justify buying another set of keycaps and switches

A photodump of my keyboards / desk setups

Anne Pro 2

My intro to mechanical keyboard. A very regretful purchase since I could have gotten a way cheaper board--like Royal Kludge ones but I still love it!

Start of pandemic desk setup

This was at the very beginning of the pandemic. I didn't really have a PC back in the day so I didn't have a proper PC setup which explains why I have a very small table.

Got a new job in the middle of the pandemic setup

Six months into the pandemic, I got a new job and was able to invest in a better desk (which I still use to this day!)

Tom680

First custom keyboard build. This was fairly cheap and this is where the rabbit hole of mods started for me.

RK87

This was an impluse purchas as I accidentally broke my TOM680 wireless switch. It was weird because I liked using my keyboards with cables but it serves me well.

The Osume Sakura set was my first expensive keycap set purchase. I bought it since I have a new keyboard build durin this time.

QK65 (my current daily driver and end game, for now)

I actually don't have a recent photo of my setup since I've been very busy during the holidays, but I plan make changes to my desk setup which is why I'm posting this.

But damn, it's so nice to see the progress of my setup from where I first started.
