some critics on pll

as much as i loved the show, there are some things that are bothering me. starting with the thing number one almost everyone agrees on: the toxic relationship between aria and ezra. before we knew that he's gonna be her teacher it looked like a risky adventure. and then things just got ugly. the show made it seem like it was fine and arias parents were just overreacting but it wasn't fine in any way. it was very wrong to make us believe in that couple. i never was in team ezria and when i found out that he used her at firsr for his novel i basically hated him and i hated aria even more for accepting his apologies and for forgetting his double sided twisted life.

at first i absolutely hated this "5 years later" jump. it kinda messed so much up, even tho it fitted with the storyline of charlotte being in therapy. still, hanna wasn't with caleb and spencer with toby anymore. that shit hurt. ESPECIALLY when toby got engaged and MARRIED yvonne. damn. also there wasn't much change and everything fell back into its old patterns. everone got back together with their exes, even emily for a short time.

next: these abnormal huge psycho bunkers. there were 2 of them in the show. first one was the dollhouse. second one was the bunker under the house toby built. like how can you build such a thing without anyone noticing? jesus christ! even tho i liked the crazyness of them being stuck in a house that recreated their rooms and having no way out etc. this was a bit too much. how crazy do you have to be to do this? reminds me of saw.

also i never really liked the way the girls treated mona, even after she helped them in so many ways. they seriously forgave ezra but mona stayed on their hitlist... smh

i really loved pll, every episode brought up so many emotions (when we found out toby and spencer weren't a thing anymore my will to live was destroyed lmao) and i really liked how it ended. sure there were SO many twists and like 90% of it was so unrealistic (a whole fake house and a bunker under toby's house? like how can't you notice the construcion works?) but the thrill was still there. also there were too many coincidences like spencer having an evil twin and wren teaming up with her... also WHY were there so many mentally ill people (Mona, Spencer in some way, Charlotte, Alex, Mary, Elliot (he was a fucking psycho for marrying Ally to torture her and steal her money), Ally's Mum...)

but i have to say, i'll probably never find another series as good as those omg i cried so much and had so many sleepless nights just to watch pll! do you have any recommendations on any shows that are similar?

what are your opinions on zoos? are they mistreating animals or are they providing education for visitors while also making sure that the animals are happy and well? are they deprived of their natural instincts, since humans do everything for them or are they relaxing and don’t really care if they have those instincts or not? I AM FURIOUS!!!!!

i can’t even tell you how much anger there is inside me right now. i’ve spent the last two hours scrolling through Instagram and tumblr, reading about how fucked up our world is. how politics failed almost everywhere. how global warming is killing each one of us slowly. how women still aren’t equal to men. how racism and homophobia are still such a big thing. how rapists get away easier than women who want to get abortions. how the government failed in the very thing they had to do: protect us and provide us a good life.

i am living in Austria and i can’t complain about my life. there’s hardly any homophobia or racism around and rapists are taken good care of locked upsomewhere for very long. women still get paid a bit less and these typical gender roles and behaviorisms are present as well. might not forget the antisemitism towards any foreigners from the east or the hate against refugees. how our way of thinking becomes more and more like Hitler would have loved it.

it just makes me so so so angry how other people are treated. but what makes me even more angry is, that i can hardly do something about it. every day i am supposed to sit and watch other people’s lives being destroyed, watch our planet become a giant piece of garbage, because once i raise my voice it’s either not heard or i am suddenly on the “bad” side, because being a good person turned out to be something to be ashamed of. but guys, this is our society. and yet they wonder why all teens, who are aware, are depressed.
