For everyone’s information:

The plan for the 17th, when the adult content ban comes in, is to protest.

To do that, we are making as much noise either side of the 17th as possible, and using the site as normal.

On the 17th, dead silence.

People are saying log off but what they really mean is don’t open the site or the app.

But, on the 17th make as much noise as possible on every other platform. Tweet about it and post on facebook and instagram and everywhere else.

What this does is causes a massive dip in ad revenue for one single day. That does not make staff think ‘oh everyone’s gone let’s shut down.’ What it actually makes them think is ‘oh shit people aren’t happy and if people don’t keep using our site we’re out of money and out of jobs.’

A boycott reminds a company that the users (consumers) have the power to make their site (business) worthless with one single coordinated decision.

If you want to join in, here’s what to do:

Do:

Close all open instances of the app and site on all your devices before the 17th

Make posts before and after the 17th on tumblr and other platforms, talking about why this ban is bad

Make posts on other sites during the 17th. Flood the official tumblr staff twitter and facebook with your anger and your opinion

Come back on the 18th and check in

Don’t:

Delete the app from your phone (this doesn’t affect their revenue and since it’s off the store at the moment it’ll be hard to get back)

Delete your account. I mean you can if you want to, but if you keep your account and don’t use it you’re saying to staff that there’s still time to save it. If you delete it’s hard work to come back.

Open the app or website (including specific blogs)

Make any posts (turn down/off your queue and make sure nothing is scheduled)

Go quiet elsewhere. Make it clear that this is just about tumblr, not a mass move away from all social media.

Remember: the execs don’t care about anything but money. Shutting down the site means there’s $0 further income from it. That’s their last possible course of action. If we make it clear we’re not happy, they’ll have to do something or we can do more and more until it becomes too expensive.

Protests take commitment. They’re a defiant action against a business that is doing something wrong. They will try to scare you into not participating, because they’re scared. We hold all the power here, sometimes the execs just need to be reminded of that.

hiatus

Hello everyone!

This most likely will be my final post on this blog. It’s been really fun but running two writing blogs is kind of difficult for me. I also just feel like I haven’t been following a quality > quantity mindset, so cutting down on the amount of content is necessary for me to be proud of the work I put out.

I have an exo fic blog! That I post mostly fluff in! And I still love parenting fics, especially those that are requested!!!!! (I have a yixing one in the works right now!) Follow @yanwritesexo for that, or my main @a-godchend. I’m closing my inbox on this blog, so if you have anything to say, please leave it on these two blogs. Nothing on this blog will be deleted, however, so you can come back and read if you’d like!

Thanks to everyone who ever liked, reblogged, replied, or requested! I really have had a great time, but I really think that this had to be done, both to preserve my own sanity and the quality of my exo fic.

league of l(osers) | baekhyun

“Your mother’s not going to be home for another few hours,” Baekhyun announced, leaning on the doorframe of Soonyoung’s bedroom. “We can go do something, if you want.”

Soonyoung looked up from his homework, tight smile on his lips. “I dunno, Dad. I really have to finish up these Biology notes…”

“But we never hang out anymore,” Baekhyun sighed overdramatically. “Besides, what’s your grade in Biology right now? Like, a 101?”

Soonyoung rolled his eyes, but Baekhyun noticed the release of tension in his shoulders. “C’mon,” he said, prodding his son even further. “We don’t even have to go out anywhere. We can play one of your games if you want.”

If he wasn’t interested before, he definitely was now. “You want to play a game with me?”

Baekhyun shrugged, smiling. “Yeah. I used to play a lot when Mom was pregnant with you. I bet I’ll beat you at whatever you pick.”

“Challenge accepted.” Soonyoung stood up, grabbing his laptop. “You used to play League, right?”

Baekhyun’s eyes practically sparkled. “You’re on.”

When you returned home from spending the weekend with your parents, possibly the last thing you expected was your husband lying face-down on the floor and your teenage son poking him with his foot while talking on the phone.

“He’s still down,” Soonyoung said into the receiver. You weren’t sure whether to be relieved or concerned by the calmness in his voice. He looked up at you and smiled widely. “Welcome home, Mom!”

“What… happened?” you asked, stunned. “Baek?” You set your suitcase down next to the door and walked over to the bizarre scene.

“I can’t believe I couldn’t win,” Baekhyun mumbled into the carpet.

“Who’s on the phone?” you asked. Soonyoung just offered it to you without word. “Hello?”

“Oh, you’re home!” Chanyeol’s voice greeted you. “Soonyoung called me about an hour ago. Apparently he kept beating Baek in League and he’s being a complete child about it.”

“Twenty-three custom games,” Baekhyun wailed. “I even chose champions for him. I chose the spells. I don’t understand!”

“It was your idea,” Soonyoung replied, looking extremely pleased with himself. “You even kept me from trying to do my homework!”

“You kept him from doing his homework?” you asked.

“Does it even matter?” Baekhyun moaned. “He’s going to be better at everything than me no matter what!”

Soonyoung grabbed his laptop and walked back upstairs, smug. “That’s just ‘cause you raised me so well!”

Baekhyun groaned into the carpet.

guitar | chanyeol

“I wanna try!”

Chanyeol looked up from his work and at Seokmin’s pleading face. The eight year old was perched at the edge of Chanyeol’s bed, watching him raptly.

“What, this?” Chanyeol asked, looking down at the guitar he was balancing on his knees while he wrote some notes down.

Seokmin nodded. “You always look so cool when you play! I wanna try it.”

Chanyeol grinned, admittedly preening from the praise. “Alright, buddy. Here, let me come over there.” He sat down next to his son and carefully placed the huge guitar in Seokmin’s lap.

“It’s too big!” Seokmin complained.

“I know, I know. But let’s try this out, and then if you like it, we’ll think about getting one just for you.”

Seokmin’s eyes sparkled. “My own?” he asked.

Chanyeol laughed. “Yeah, sure! But let’s try first. Take your hand and put it here.” He guided his right hand so he could strum. Seokmin did as Chanyeol instructed, strumming the open strings with a little too much force.

“Gentle, gentle,” Chanyeol said. “You don’t want to hurt the guitar.”

Seokmin nodded solemnly and followed the instructions.

“Let’s try to make a chord now,” Chanyeol said. He positioned Seokmin’s fingers onto the frets and instructed him to try strumming. Seokmin grimaced.

“It hurts!”

“That’s how it is when you start out,” Chanyeol explained patiently. “It’ll get better with practice. I promise.”

Chanyeol continued to guide him through it for another thirty minutes or so until Seokmin was complaining for than he was trying.

“That’s hard, Daddy!” Seokmin said as Chanyeol went back to his desk to work.

“It really is. You did so well, though! You’ll be good in no time, bud, I just know it,” Chanyeol grinned.

Seokmin glowed from the praise. “I wanna be just like you,” Seokmin said, settling back onto the bed to watch his dad work. “I wanna play music like Daddy.”

Chanyeol turned his back so Seokmin wouldn’t see the tears of pride threatening to slip from his eyes.

“What do you want for your birthday, Chae?” Jongdae asked, sitting down next to his daughter, who was engrossed in her coloring.

“I don’t know,” she replied shortly.

“You don’t know?” he asked again, leaning forward so he could look her in the eyes. She didn’t meet his gaze. “Not even new toys? Or clothes?”

She huffed. “I don’t know if you can get me what I want.”

Jongdae laughed softly to himself. So demanding for a four year old. “Really? You don’t think your Daddy can get it for you?”

She shook her head. “Mommy has to get it for me. Not you.”

Now Jongdae was confused. He frowned. “What can Mommy get you that I can’t?” (He only pouted slightly)

Chaeyoung looked up at him, finally, and said resolutely, “A sister.”

Jongdae’s eyes widened. “You want a sister, Chaeyoung?”

“Yeah,” she replied. “I want a little sister, ‘n we can play dress up and stuff!”

“Can’t you do all that stuff with me or Mommy?”

Chaeyoung sighed. “Yeah but… you and Mommy are grownups. I want a little sister! Joohyun has a little sister ‘n they play together all the time!”

Jongdae smiled fondly. He’d be lying if he said that the thought of having another kid hadn’t crossed his mind. Chaeyoung wasn’t always content with being alone, especially if you and Jongdae both had work. Sure, she had her friends at the daycare, but that was only during the day. Her babysitter had told Jongdae once that she seemed lonely some times.

“Okay, baby,” Jongdae said, grinning. “I’ll talk it over with Mommy, okay? If we both decide to, though, she might not come before your birthday, okay?”

Chaeyoung nodded. “That’s alright. I’m patient!”

“That’s right,” he replied, a wave of fondness coursing through him.

“But if you can’t get a sister, a dollhouse would be fine.”

Jongdae laughed. “Okay, sweetheart.”

“Are you getting tired, Soonyoungie?” Baekhyun asked the boy, who was currently sprawled out on his chest.

“No,” Soonyoung replied, though the sleepiness was evident in his voice.

“Maybe we should get you up to bed,” he said.

“No!” Soonyoung sat up and pouted at Baekhyun. “I want to finish the movie.”

The movie in question (The Incredibles) was already the third that the two of them had watched that night. The blanket that had covered them during the first movie was now on the floor and the giant bowl of popcorn they shared had run out some time during the second. They were supposed to go to bed after the second one, but Soonyoung was in a particularly stubborn mood tonight.

Baekhyun stifled a yawn and he asked again. “I can carry you all the way up to bed,” he offered.

“I wanna watch!” Soonyoung whined. “It’s my favorite.”

“I know, honey, but we can finish it tomorrow.”

“Please, Daddy? Can we just finish it?”

Byun Baekhyun was a strong man. But if there was one thing that he couldn’t resist, it was Soonyoung’s puppy dog eyes (“he gets them from you, you know,” you had told him once. It was in moments like these where Baekhyun realized that huh, genetics really does work like that).

“Okay,” Baekhyun relented. “We can finish the movie.”

When you woke up, Baekhyun wasn’t in bed next to you. You made your way downstairs, not surprised to hear the menu screen music for The Incredibles playing. You turned the TV off and faced the mess that was now your living room.

Amidst the overturned bowls and the scattered blankets and pillows were your two favorite boys, fast asleep on the couch. Soonyoung was laying on Baekhyun’s chest, and Baekhyun had his arm wrapped protectively around his son.

You felt your heart clench as you reached for your phone. You took a picture of the cozy sight. You knew that Baekhyun would appreciate it.
