Details
Originally born in the deep south, his parents move to Greenhike at the very start of the town’s inception in 1964 when they first learn of the wellness retreat. They come for the sake of his mother, who would later be the inspiration for Henry’s career choice.
The more time his mother spends at Greenhike, the more often Henry visits. It feels almost natural to be there, and he doesn’t realize the roots spreading through his psyche from their intervention.
He studies and he feels supported, he even takes care of little bumps and bruises around camp and feels happy to be able to help. Everyone knows the motto of ‘Do No Harm’ and the night that Jericho’s ghost is seen insane the flames, he thinks of it as benediction. No harm was done, his spirit is free. Henry believes in Greenhike and what’s done there. He believes in Jericho.
(Now he doesn’t. Now he believes in the mind altering abilities of drugs and how easy it is to dose people. He doesn’t believe in ghosts and spirits and if he did, he would believe Jericho showed up in flames because Greenhike led him to burn. Whether or not Henry believes in hell depends on the day.)
His mother is suffering. She hurts and she wants freedom. The family has been in Greenhike for nearly twenty years and Dr. Sullivan is gone, her absence feeling like a pulled tooth, an ache that reminds you things aren’t right. Without her, hope disappears as well, or so it goes for Henry’s mother. She rants and raves and pleads and begs. She makes requests and demands and Henry listens to her. He loves his mother and wants what’s best for her, that’s the entire reason the family came to Greenhike. If Greenhike can no longer help her, someone has to.
First, do no harm. Think of Jericho.
His mother is gone and instead of peace, there’s an ache, and a flat look in his father’s eyes. You name a daughter after your dead mother, but it doesn’t assuage the guilt. Your marriage falls apart and you’re too deep in a bottle to even care.
You don’t care about the end of the second marriage, either. The third marriage is the one that feels the most like love, but even that goes away and you know that you’re the one to blame. The fourth marriage is barely worth mentioning, not even a solid year before you’re calling it quits because it was nothing but a rebound.
Greenhike is meant to help people, but you feel broken by it and no matter how much of your life has been dedicated to healing, you’ve never managed to fix yourself. Instead, all you seem to do is damage those around you and you can’t figure out how to make it stop.
WANTED CONNECTIONS
FAMILY (IN LAW): Ex wives, kids, siblings in law, step kids, I’m up for plotting all of it. Rough details of his family structure to come.
PATIENTS: Past, present, this seems fairly standard. Maybe they want to complain about his bedside manner or maybe they’re fixated on him because of how he helped them.
GREENHIKE MEMBERS: Unlikely considering his age, but if anyone remembers him from his time in Greenhike, that would be interesting. Other members trying to lure him back would also be interesting, because I think he may help out if only to try convincing them to leave.

"The Enclave and the Wraith's Den are different establishments with different atmospheres. Drinking and working at two different places isn't unheard of." Daniel commented as he straightened a coaster on the wooden countertop. That was the kind of habit that Daniel always associated with fussy, suburban moms, worrying about water stains on furniture, and even ending up with his own kid hadn't changed that habit. Work, however, had made it happen. @greenhikestarters

Details
Lost his sister as a teenager and was sent to Greenhike by his parents. Little did they know that it was only going to cause more trouble in the long run. Daniel found friends, but those friends would later be called a cult.
The seance is something Daniel believed in then and he believes in it now. If he believes that he managed to hear from his sister or not isn’t something he talks about.
The car he left Greenhike in is the first car he ever stole. He told himself that he’d return one day to see his parents, but that until the day came when he felt ready, he would send them post cards from every stop.
He never made it back to Greenhike before they died.
He kept in touch with some of the people from Greenhike, some of them more than others. Even the mother of his child came from Greenhike, although that was chance instead of design.
So used to being the one to run, it didn’t seem right when he was suddenly left behind, the woman gone one day. Daniel looked for her, and he continued to look, traveling and backtracking through every location she’d ever mentioned.
One day, a postcard showed up for him, the return address from Greenhike. A summons to come back in a familiar hand and Daniel, for the first time in decades, went back home. His son needs something stable, and it almost feels right to go back to his roots, but it also feels wrong at the same time, leading to weekend trips disappearing from town.
It’s been four months and Daniel listens for information. He works at a bar and lets the patrons spill secrets while he pours booze, he chats up people at the hotel to see who is coming and going. He’s waiting for something, but doesn’t know what.
