Part 2, Day 4 of 2020 TMEA Convention on Saturday. I was wandering on the convention floor doing last minute shopping and looking at booths that were still there while gaining a bunch of selfies to my selfies hunt when out of nowhere one of my band best friends Bryce came out of nowhere and surprised the fuck out of me. Then I became aware that someone wanted a selfie with me and was hunting ME down for a selfie and I finally got a selfie with Austin from Denison (I was supposed to say hi at DCI Denton but I forgot). I got bored so I played on a Plastic Euphonium and Ptrombone which was hella interesting courtesy of the brook mays music booth. I played on a melodica. Then I ran into a really cool instagram bassoonist who makes all state like a champ at the tmea souvie booth. THEN I GOT MEET ONE OF MY FRIENDS FROM SHADBOS Luis even though he said wouldn't be able to come down to TMEA he still found a way and I got to see Tyler again. I ran into Andrew again, that was hella dope. I got really bored at the end and got to try out a french horn. Part 1, Day 4 of 2020 TMEA Convention on Saturday. Today is the big day because we have our concert in the evening. We had our last rehearsal in the morning and I was sad because it was the last time I would be in the same band again with everyone here. I wished that we had done a full run-through of our entire program at the end of rehearsal. After rehearsal, I started part 3 of the grand selfie hunt and got a picture with our clinician. Later outside I got a selfie with the band director from our sister college who also graduated from my HS. Several Selfies later, I also got a selfie with my former hs band director and a former head band director from my HS. I also got roped into going to my friend's college music booth and got a selfie with their band director. Part 3, Day 3 of 2020 TMEA Convention on Friday. This is a continuation from part 2. After browsing through the college fair for a few hours. I made my way to Lila Cockrell Theatre to watch the TMEA 5A Honour Band perform and honestly it was absolutely amazing, Lopez HS did a great job and they definitely played extraordinary on Pini di Roma (Pines of Rome). My richland colleague that joined up with me was also very impressed of their playing. I also ran into a friend from berkner and a few colleagues from Lopez. After the concert and i put my stuff away, my friend and I was going to go to Hard Rock Cafe but we ended up using my Landry's Select to gain priority seating at Bubba Gumps. Part 2, Day 3 of 2020 TMEA Convention on Friday. This is a continuation from part 1. After, I broke away from my all state colleague group. I went looking around and looked at all of the booths that was on my list. I tried out a trumpet, both venova saxes, an euphonium, ptrombone, and various percussion instruments. I ran into a lot of familiar faces friends and band directors and some new faces. It was hella interesting, Christopher Bill was the easiest to find because he was at a booth already. I ran into one of my online friends Aaron. then, Josh ran into me. Then I got a selfie with Randall Standridge. I later went to the hotel next door and accidentally ran into Julian Bliss with all of my luck. then I ran into some of my homies from Shadbos in the convention center. then I ran into my hs percussion director. and I got a selfie with Paul Rennick. and was briefly at college fair and got a selfie with Phil Clements. stay tune for part 3 because I need some Jesus. Part 1 of Day 3 of the TMEA 2020 Convention on Friday will be broken down into several parts because I got carried away and took too many pictures. So for today's rehearsal we had John Mackey come visit us because we were playing one of his pieces, Until the Scars and let me tell you it was hilarious. I got to ask him a question about the Asphalt Cocktail piece that the Dallas Winds played last night for the President's Concert and he gave me a 10 minutes response and everyone in the room got extremely jealous because he gave a long and detailed response. We got out of our only rehearsal for the day at noon because of college fair night so my all state colleagues and I went to the rivercenter mall for lunch then went to the convention center where we departed. This is also where part 2 of the Lipman Selfie Hunt started off. I ran into 4 of my friends that went to Richland and I got to try out and play a really nice piccolo and a Greg Patillo Flute. Sorry for not posting the rest of the series but anyways. Day 2 of 2020 TMEA Convention on Thursday was a big rollercoaster. I had a fun time in rehearsal in the first half. My all state friends and I went to bubba gumps for lunch and we had a blast. I almost got yelled by the clinician during the afternoon rehearsal. My colleague from richland and I went to go see TCU Wind Symphony and it was Amazing even tho I almost fell asleep. But the main event was the Dallas Winds President's Concert. Every single piece that they played was an absolute banger and it was the motivation i needed for this rough day. I was also very pleased to see ryan anthony at the time in a much better state that I actually cried. There were so many texan surprises in this concert. They surprised us all with Deep i the Heart of Texas that everyone got a kick out of it. Tocu no Fuba was also a banger. It was just wonderful. I also got to meet the famous John Mackey, he was super nice and friendly. I was super stoked to meet him that I was waiting patiently to get my selfie with him haha. Day 1 of 2020 TMEA Convention on Wednesday. Today was kinda a rough day but was all well rewarded in the very end. I had a rough time sleeping on my first night because our room was next to the elevator. After breakfast, we went to the Convention Center to assist the student workers on setting up the college booth. Afterwards, I ran into some old friends in the lobby but I had to quickly run up to my room before running back down. I had an very interesting chair audition because I have bad audition anxiety and I'm also equally bad at auditioning. I got to lounge out at the outdoor pool and spa along with the indoor pool. Our first rehearsal with clinician went pretty smooth and was hilarious awesome. After rehearsal, I got to roam around downtown for a bit with some of my all state colleagues. Day 6: Today was a very cut and dry day, I took the AMTRAK train back to Dallas from San Antonio. I was planning to get breakfast tacos one more but that didn't happen because postmates was being ultra dumb. I had a pretty decent breakfast and lunch while making some new friends. I took the dart train back up to Richardson and like went home.
