Let's talk about Jack's major rizzness with Joke in their last scene. Let's talk about how Jack has finally taken ahold of his own life. Let's talk about how he was absolutely and fully ready to finally move to the next level with Joke. Let's talk about Joke allowing Jack to tell him his truth even though Joke knows EXACTLY what happened between Jack and Rose. Let's talk about Joke giving Jack the time to confess and ask him to be his boyfriend. Let's talk about that fucking kiss. How gentle Jack was vs. how hungry Joke was. Let's talk about Joke gripping on Jack's thigh and leaning so far in that he was barely sitting anymore. Let's fucking talk! LET'S TALK!

Let's talk about the kiss again (Yes, I'm still yapping about the cinematic excellence because let's be honest, no one is moving on from that).
It's so fascinating to me the way the personalities of Jack and Joker are still evident even when they kiss.
We have Joker on one hand, the reckless/spontaneous one between them, who is clearly taking in the lead in the kiss. He has something that he has wanted for so long so he's not gonna waste any time claiming that something to be his. Lord knows how many times he has fantasized about this, when this seemed like a far fetched dream. So who needs oxygen at this point when he could just breathe Jack in?
Then we have Jack who is the calmer one. He's someone who analyzes and thinks a lot. So at first, though he follows Joke's lead but he quickly gives in. He lets Joke whatever it is he wanted from him. He also has been wanting that kiss for so long. But then he realizes that now that he finally has Joke in his arms, he would like to savor the moment. So, we see him pulling back, calming Joke down, letting them both catch their breath.
Well, he's also a little shit so we see him teasing Joke before finally giving in.
So, the second time around, they are both on the same page and they let the moment linger.
Oh Mr. Yin Anan Wong and Mr. War Wanarat Ratsameerat, the actors you are.

I am not kidding when I say that fandom has been a life saving force for me so many times. Having a community of people with the same weird little hobby is a source of joy and relief and a much needed escape from the horrors we face out in the real world. I’m grateful to all of you for continuing to be here.

A Bird & the Sun
Before I get to the colors in episode nine of Jack & Joker, I want to mention the painting in Boss's office because @dribs-and-drabbles wrote about this exact painting (but the post is MIA, daddy!).
Is it a crane? An albatross? I have no idea, but the point is it's a bird flying toward the red sun which symbolizes freedom and good fortune.
And although Boss is obsessed with horses because he wants to be a Horsemen.
Like have a huge knight chess piece on his shelf,
And having horse statues behind his desk,
It's interesting that a bird is always in his way.
There is an eagle on his desk.
And out of the lion, unicorn, and dragon, the ring was hiding in the room with the eagle.
So although I could see the bird as being Boss's freedom,
It's Jack who gets to be free once the ring is acquired.
Because Boss wants to be a horse, but Jack is a bird, and Joke is a red sun.
And it's also why the ring is illuminated with a red light.
To rewind for a second, Jack is color coded blue and black.
And Joke is color coded red.
Even Grandma understands this and her outfit used both their colors.
And Jack and Joke's (practically) adopted daughter also wore those colors.
So everyone remembers their colors, yes? Yes!
While Joke is clearly red like his bow tie was this episode, I have a theory that Jack is black because of his job and his life, but he would be blue (lighter) if it weren't for his job and extra burdens.
So, once again, it's interesting that the ring is meant for Boss (horses), but surrounded by red (Joke)
In an entirely blue space (Jack).
But Joke can't get the ring on his own. He needs the help of his buddies, which comes not only in the form of the tarot cards Nang gave each of them, but them actually helping him break into the room.
So when Joke must hide, he hides in a red space because as much as this plan is not going well, stealing items is what Joke does best.
He is exactly where he is meant to be.
Which is protecting Jack's freedom and coming between Jack and Rose.
Because Jack is already lighter admitting that he likes someone else since he now has someone who has his back, and not just figuratively. Joke is hiding in the closet right behind Jack.
Joke is the red sun that gives Jack freedom, but not only by stealing the ring. Joke gives Jack the freedom to be honest and to dream of a life beyond the one he has.
Jack gets to look up at the sky and believe in that moment that the world is full of possibilities.
And Joke has given him that world.
Jack was a caged bird until Joke brought Jack good fortune and freedom.
Joke is his sun.

This is just... y'all. Y'all. This is better than any enemies to lovers arc in recent memory. Dear lord. And then when what he gives up to fulfill his side of the agreement is just... chef's kiss.
And the heterosexual explanation for this is....?

Remember, remember the Fifth of November, the gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot. But what of the man? I know his name was Guy Fawkes and I know in 1605 he attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament. But who was he really? We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. He can be caught, he can be killed and forgotten, but 400 years later, an idea can still change the world. I’ve witnessed first hand the power of ideas, I’ve seen people kill in the name of them, and die defending them.

You, baby. The only thing in this world that means as much to Saint as the future you lost because of him means to you, is you.
And you know what's wild?
Until this very moment when Shin saw the resignation letter, Shin truly did not believe that Saint felt any sort of sincere guilt for what he did to him. This whole time he's believed it's all an act, that Saint is only pretending to be a good guy, that he didn't understand what he did, but he does. Saint feels and understands all of it and that's why he's been so desperate to atone for his sins.
Asking him to give up what he wants most is the penance Shin demanded and what Saint wants most is to see Shin, to be forgiven by him, and to be welcome in his life again.
To atone, Saint has to give up.
Can you believe this isn't a fucking BL?
