in case there are still any barmaro stans alive Raúl Esparza and Danny Pino play boyfriends in a fiction podcast telenovela called Princess of South Beach that is going to be adapted into a Netflix show

I’m not a fan of soap operas/telenovelas/KDrama but I do like comedy/parody versions of them so Princess of South Beach has become my favorite podcast to listen to while walking my dogs.

I love how all the characters are bastards (some more than others) but the writers still manage to make you feel sorry for them.

Like the married couple Luisa and Esteban. They’re by far the worst people but they also suffer from the worst trauma. Luisa because her father was extremely abusive and Esteban because he was put through torturous gay conversion therapy as a teen. Now they’re trying to keep up appearances as a perfect, Catholic family while Luisa is chasing after young men (including her daughter’s love interests) and Esteban has a secret affair with their future son-in-law’s father, Nacho. Nacho only started the affair to get money from Esteban but has started falling in love with him which could ruin everything because Esteban will get rid of him if it becomes anything other than physical.

That of course doesn’t even scratch the surface of the intrigue and drama and I smile like an idiot every time a new twist is revealed.
