Amazing! How much does s/he weigh? I can only imagine how your elbow and shoulder must feel after having such a massive bird on the glove.
He’s just under 12lbs-- I’ve handled heavier eagles, but not stronger ones. I definitely have one beefy arm!

Weird thing is? This is Luigi, a bird I work with now, taken back when he was still in Panama. Reblogged by someone I follow. I thought I recognized him, went digging, and confirmed it. Crazy. Small world.

Does nobody else realize this is a painting? The artist's signature is in the bottom left.
I’m in love with this photo.

Except that the 'baby platypus' is a baby penguin, and the 'baby falcon' is an adult pygmy falcon.
If you’re having a bad day here are a few baby animal pictures which surely should cheer you up! :D

How about that it's using 'poison' instead of 'venom'?
Anyone want to tell me what’s wrong with this picture?

Thanks for the info! I'm actually working at Disney's Animal Kingdom down in Orlando as a bird trainer at the moment (but yes I am Canadian!) and all of the new Florida bugs and lizards and critters in general are just blowing my mind. If I find another neat mantid I'll give you a shout for sure! ❤️
avadavat says: Sorry for another “I found this guy at work” post, but I could not get over this skinny little kitty! I have no idea what kind this guy is but WOW, tiny!

Cat Lady Commentary: Man, don’t even apologize, you’re finding some fascinating cats in your area! Are you finding these in Ontario? If so, that’s pretty remarkable!! I didn’t know there was such a broad range of species to be found in Canada (I only knew of three). I think what you might have here is a Brunneria borealis (North American stick mantis)—but the tiiiny antennae are throwing me off. It looks, though, as if they might have been nibbled off or otherwise completely removed during an earlier instar… The itty bitty raptorials (bro, do you even lift?) tell me it’s deeefinately not a Tenodera…so B. borealis is the best ID I can provide! Another brilliant find!! I want to work wherever it is you work!
