Frankly, it would be so easy to reframe s3 as one (of many) of Jim’s adventures, since Juudai’s already a decent villain as the protagonist.

why I hate Tigershipping

Daichi “Bastion” Misawa is a great character concept, as is Taniya. However, their interactions in canon are creepy and abusive.

Misawa is 15 when he meets Taniya, who is an adult. She manipulates him into falling in love with her. In the dub, the time they spend together involves him screaming in pain all night. (Not to say their relationship is healthy in the sub.)

A socially awkward, fifteen-year-old math geek is not up to Taniya’s standards of manhood (no fucking wonder), so she abandons him.

Again, Misawa is 15. He can’t get a driver’s license, let alone fully understand what’s healthy and what’s not in relationships. So he blames himself for “not being good enough” for someone who forced him into a relationship he can’t even legally consent to. And he doesn’t just get over her -- he cosplays a tiger later that season.

I’ve only seen the dub of season 3, but their relationship (and Misawa leaving as a result) felt like such a cop-out. It was also a punch in the gut for me, having personally experienced partner abuse. Leaving all your friends and family to spend your life with your abuser is not a happy ending.

Again, Taniya is a great concept executed terribly. An Amazon duelist who’s also a tiger because Reasons? Sign me up! She also exploits children? Hell no!

I hope you don't mind me saying this but I 100% agree with you about t*gershipping...what you said about it was everything I'd never been able to put into words myself. I love your headcanons and character analysis by the way!

Oh, thank you! It’s such lazy characterization (she can’t just... want a good duel?) and it’s not something I’m willing to support.

So back in 2014 I tried finding a decent Yugioh ship chart. But alas, I couldn’t find one that really fit my needs. So I made one! With pixel art! And then I never posted it until now. It’s missing a few characters, but I can add more if people are interested.
