Dream I just had:
*while working out and doing planks*
Character 1 : curse you and your german thighs
Character 2 *in german*: With the way our country's going, we might as well both be german
(Then I proceeded to laugh myself away)

Raina and Skye are such interesting Foils, they're so similar but also so different. everything happens to them in reverse to the other, like mentioned in this lovely post a few while back, and this is soooo prominent in season 1.
they both join organizations to fulfill their personal agenda
They both use their conventional attractiveness (albeit differently: Raina's stays here like it's her default, like when she talks to Po about getting in good word for the Clairvoyant, or when she talks to Garrett about the Gravitonium. Skye's is more like a facet of hers, like when she infiltrates Quinn's party in Malta, or duping Ward when she knew he was Hydra) to get what they want, both of which are technically about the same thing. Raina's about her gift, Skye's about her parents, which includes her Inhuman heritage
Both of them inevitably help Coulson realize what TAHITI really was
Garrett needs both of them to live, Raina distilling the GH components, Skye to unlock the hard drive for access to Simmons's research
Raina continually saves herself (Hong Kong Centipede laboratory, taking over from Po, leaving with Quinn to evade Coulson and co.) while Skye continually sacrifices herself (volunteering for Malta, breaking up with Miles, literally almost dying)
and they both happen to be inhuman, too, like. wow.

All the time actually 😭
do you ever just think about how her parents were gone. she spent years mourning them until their visages were little more than crinkled, well-worn polaroids in her mind, wisps of memories, of could-have-beens. and the grief was there, and she thought perhaps it would never leave but she had accepted it.
and she wasn’t alone, really. she had her Grandfather, and she could see flashes and flickers of herself, and perhaps her parents, too, in the way he smiled and his soft-spoken words and in the way he carried himself. and then he was gone and she was all alone. and she was mourning, mourning being the last of her lineage and the last of her family and she listened to his last request she would be damned if that request made her lose herself and what little of her family she had left.
do you ever think about how she got her parents back but they weren’t really her parents anymore. she had grown up without them, and, they had also grown without her and now they were basically strangers haunting the same home. and the grief was there and she was mourning them all over again but just in a little bit of a different way and maybe late at night she would selfishly wish she had never gotten them back at all.
..no? just me?

in another universe, luna stayed on her rig and spent her days in peace, unconcerned with everyone else's wars, teaching the children how to fish, raising adria and having beachside picnics with her girlfriend raven reyes as they braid each other's hair

I saw some one say that it felt like it was just a set up for the third and I really agree. I was good, I loved writing learned more about the culture, a bit more with their language and history, but it really was just a build up for what's too come
I am back from Moana 2. Spoiler free initial thoughts:
While I don't think it was as bad as I thought it would be it also was not what I would call good? It was okay. I think the setup/lore is not very well thought out and it just expects us to accept a lot of it cuz things are happening. They really needed to spend more time worldbuilding. The songs aren't as memorable, but there were one or two that I think are solid. I think there are too many characters and literally Moana's crew is just a copy and paste of Buzz Lightyear's crew from Lightyear. Just as I predicted.
You could really tell though that this was meant to be a series. The narrative flow of it was not as smooth for a movie and I can break up each part as if it was "ah and now this is an episode and this is an episode." At some point I also felt like 'this feels like a video game level and I am meeting an NPC that just directs me to the next section.' So that wasn't great. I'm ngl there were some parts where I was bored or felt like it dragged on too long.
But what we ARE eating GOOD though is all that DELICIOUS Moana and Maui content. Their relationship and interactions are so sweet and when they're reunited again it's literally like seeing two puzzle pieces fit back together and they are well oiled machine. They worked so well together that it kind of makes painfully obvious that we didn't really need the other characters at all. Seeing them and their maturing dynamic was worth it alone.
Overall it was. Okay. I am still kind of nervous where they plan to take this franchise now cuz it's clear they want to do more. And why wouldn't they, Moana is probably the only few things keeping Disney afloat from their mediocrity streak. Did this break the streak? I can't really say it did, but it wasn't a bad time. Not like Wish or Frozen 2 was a bad time. But the possibility of seeing more Moana and Maui adventures is still a bit exciting.
7/10.

my official stance is a pregnancy is whatever the pregnant person wants it to be. if it’s a 4 week old clump of cells and they want to call it a baby it’s a baby. if they're 20 weeks and they want to call it a parasite it’s a parasite. if they're 39 weeks and call it a fetus it’s a fetus. “why are you so sad about miscarrying at 6 weeks it was literally just an embryo” because that was their baby. “how can you get an abortion at three months” because that wasn’t a baby. hope that helps.
