Forgiveness is for you...not the other person. You forgive so that you can free up that space in your heart...not to get back in with the other person. Perhaps mending the relationship could be a result of forgivness but it doesn't have to be. And sometimes it shouldn't be. Sometimes forgiving someone and allowing the relationship to continue is detrimental to your well being. I don't see the problem with freeing up your heart for yourself. But I totally see a problem with not choosing yourself over the detrimental relationship. When you choose to forgive and let the toxic relationship go, you're choosing yourself. You're not saying no to other, you're saying yes to yourself. It's that simple! Don't let anyone tell u that forgiveness automatically means letting the person back in your life. It's a trick! Loyalty. Is yours just a tattoo? "Going along to get along..." Most of us have the inate desire to get along with everyone. However going along with something that's clearly unethical undermines the notion of courage. It enables the guilty and as a result, makes the follower of the misconduct guilty by association. Choosing your own path may not be the most popular option but it's the most beneficial and you sleep well at night knowing that you stood up for what was right and did the right thing. That's backbone. That's courage. That's integrity. That's power! If your loyalty to someone causes you to compromise your integrity, which would you choose? Choose yourself. Your values and morals are key in having good character so they should always remain intact. Any relationship that causes you to abandon them is not a healthy relationship and should be carefully reevaluated. If the other person in the relationship with you isn't encouraging you to do what's right, that's one huge reason to analyze and adjust your role in that relationship. There is much to be said about someone who chooses to do what's right even when it seems difficult...even when your relationship(s) are at risk...even when you know that you risk reaping the benefits of being associated with that person. But, again, you get to sleep like a baby knowing you chose to stay true to yourself. Honor should be over loyalty because if the ones you're loyal to and follow aren't on the same page as you, you will be forced to choose. Honor or loyalty. Manipulators and Sociopaths in relationships, Part 2 get them outta your life. They do not serve you. Don't hang on to the anger they may have caused you because you begin a cycle of hurt feelings causing more hurt feelings. This is where the saying "love them from a distance" comes into play. You don't have to hate them for their ignorance or unconscious behavior. You can choose to overstand the psychology behind their behavior and therefore not harbor anger toward them. Anyways, I had that on my heart because some relationships we want soooooo bad may not be for us. Or maybe they weren't meant to be long-term or forever. So we should always take our situations as opportunities to get better. We ask God/The Most High/The Creator/The Universe for patience, he will NOT deliver you patience at the snap of a finger. But he will provide you with opportunities to practice patience...opportunities to prove to yourself that you did better at being patient than you did last time. So choose your perspectives wisely. Ask yourself this question of people in your life as well as your relationships: Does this person/relationship engineer peace or chaos? Sending peace and love to all those who are open to accepting it. I'm humbled and elated. I see why it's important to use the gifts and talents you have because you can change someone's life. You never know what word or perspective you may offer that helps another get a step further along on their path. Just by doing you, you could possibly help them gain a deeper understanding of who they are and how much value they have to the world...or to know that life doesn't have to happen to them, they can make life happen....or to know that happiness, peace, and joy are just a decision away....anything that brings more clarity. You never know how you can help someone...or help someone help someone. Love is contagious and when you use the love you're gifted with (your talents and gifts), you spread love and then you help love spread love by spreading more love. Courage is required for this to be in a world full of critics and judges. Anyways, you're important. I'm important. She's important. He's important. We're all important pieces to the puzzle. All pieces to a puzzle are required and one does not serve a higher purpose than the other. Remaining True to You Most of us have the intention of staying true to ourselves. And with that intention we risk losing relationships or altering the depth of those relationships. If that's what it takes for your peace of mind, integrity, dignity, etc. to remain intact, don't budge. Stand ten toes strong in what your truth is. I know it hurts to imagine not having your bff, or your sibling, or even your parent in your life the way you want them to. But you cannot compromise these.....they're non negotiable. Don't let anyone manipulate you into doing or being something you don't want to by way of a guilt trip or any other way. Don't beat up on yourself because your truth causes them discomfort. You're not a bad person just because you choose to do what's best for you. And don't think that its your responsibility to hold that relationship together. Remain open, of course, but don't force whats not being reciprocated. Don't continue to push against what they're doing/allowing that you don't agree with. They will come around if they really want to so stay open. Don't hold back the truth from those you love just to remain in their good graces. If they can't handle you telling them truth from a place of love, they aren't ready to receive the love you have to give. And that's ok. They aren't a bad person either. We're all operating diffent levels of consciousness, therefore we only know how to give and receive love from that level. Nothing more or less. Find peace in your decision to remain true to yourself. Find your peace in that fact that you've offered your love. Find peace in the fact that you have more love to offer when they come back.
