One of the mods of the Discord server, @sorcererrezan, came up with the great idea a while back to make a list of prompts related to Chapter Six, to give the fandom something to work with! So, as Chapter Six was being proofread, my beta readers and I came up with a fun set of prompts for you guys to play around with.

This prompt list challenge will be happening during the entire month of March! You can post your work whenever you like during this month and it will be reblogged to the game blog. Whether it be fanfic, fanart, edits - anything goes!

i just adore the concept of a romance with a ghost. falling in love with a person who’s barely a person at all. the inherent tragedy of it. something both impermanent and immortal. u know it’s sure to be a doomed dalliance, but you love this dead thing anyway

i've seen this question passed around on other IF blogs and that last dreamwalker post and what you've said in the past about sysba has be curious, so what are three words you'd use to describe the romantic/'romantic' relationships in attollo? the depth that everyone has already has me intrigued!! your writing is wonderful

Ohhhhh I’m not sure if you want in general or individual, so as per usual for when I’m not sure, i’m gonna give you both 

In general: Slow-burn, emotional, and intense   

Pariah: Vulnerabile, hesitant, and liberating

Do I really have to exist

i am not god; i sometimes think about how much doesn’t have to exist, myself included. it’s a problem i find a lot. i don’t feel necessary.

but then, neither is my dog. he is a sheepdog with no sheep. he has nightmares a lot. his purpose is moot.

one of my cats only eats bugs. he won’t catch mice. for an obligate carnivore, he loves moths.

is it required that i or you or anyone else exists. maybe not. but i kind of think of it as a small miracle. you do exist. despite how scientifically improbable it was for you to be created, you were. and something in that is beautiful, you know? the universe needed eyes to watch all these unnecessary things it created. you don’t spend hours on your sim house just to put no people in it. does a house require people to exist? no. but it does require people to be a home.

i know the world demands you Fulfill Thine Divine Purpose. i think that’s kind of bogus. you don’t have to be useful or valuable or exceptional to be worth something. my dog is worth so much to me. the idea that he’s not necessary is silly to me.

yes, i know. life goes on when people leave. true, and true indeed. i think about that a lot. but i also know that my sister’s cat goes to check to see if she’s home every night, and she’s been gone for months. 

grand scheme? who knows. but the truth is that other people need you because you help them feel like they exist with purpose. maybe you haven’t met the right people yet. i felt strongly in senior year of high school that nothing i did mattered - after all, i had no friends. i was bullied. if i died, it would make zero difference. and maybe it would have. maybe the gap would have filled after me. maybe my cat would learn that i was gone, that nobody was coming. maybe my mom would foster a new daughter. who knows. i’m not god.

but i do know if i didn’t exist. if i had taken myself off the table because i didn’t have to exist…. i wouldn’t be here talking to you and all of my new friends here. i wouldn’t tell you that, since you’re here, you might as well enjoy the rest of the things that shouldn’t exist. televisions are sound and image boxes. music and art and dance and writing don’t have to exist, but they do because they bring us joy, fill us with harmony. airplanes are godless flight machines and if god wanted us off the ground he would have given us wings.

airplanes were someone saying “this doesn’t have to exist, but i want it to.”  and i want you to exist because it’s worth it. it’s worth it for the dog you might adopt or the tattoo you might get or skinny dipping or writing songs or planting a garden. all things in life that won’t exist without you, that won’t happen without you around to make them happen. that need you to exist so they can exist too. 

please stay on this earth. i can’t force you, i can’t offer you a promise that the world ever stops hurting. but i can say that somewhere, to someone, you matter. and you matter to me, because you exist, because you reached out to me, because you have a question that i ask myself daily. 

here’s my suggestion. when i’m at the point that the rope has a stronger pull than the art of the world, i make myself count the things that are good, and didn’t have to exist, but do. libraries. books. bath bombs. me and you. because i know we can be a force for good, you and i. somewhere on some level we can help others or just help ourselves and that’s…. good. and i think, really, in this universe that loves entropy, yes, absolutely, we need you. we need the good you can do. and we need you. or, at least: i do.

Minor Annoyances of Writing Fantasy

the number of weird words you end up adding to your word processor’s dictionary, just so your screen isn’t filled with red squiggles

the number of supplemental files containing world building information you need to KEEP OPEN at all times

the truly bizarre things you need to research (”Hmmm… does it make more sense for my merpeople to be based on dolphin biology or fish biology?” or “wait, this character is half dragon? HOW? I feel like I need to understand how that would happen… let’s see if there are any existing mythos for it…” or “Just how damaging is mistletoe to an oak tree? What other trees have a susceptibility to mistletoe? What about other parasitic plants?”)

creating new slang, axioms, and proverbs that make sense in a world unlike our own

trying to maintain a consistent level of technological advancement across multiple aspects of culture

names for things that are not characters

Let me tell you about this novel I had the absolute honor of editing, out now on Amazon. 

Heralds of the Fall is an epic historical novel about the fall of the Roman Empire–but it’s also a story about so much more than that. A few names to remember...

Inside a drawer tucked away in the depths of the Manor lay thick files, each dedicated to every person who has set foot on the Isle. There is a note that accompanies them: “Beware of these”, it reads in The Lady’s shaky handwriting. 

Unfolding the note reveals five names: 

Verenka Smirnov, 0545: 

She is a queen and the world is her hive. Take away her pawns and she’ll find new ones. No one is safe from her charms. I must be careful or soon I might find her tugging at my strings. I still can’t help but admire her.

Salvador M. Lopez, 1859: 

He can mimic any sound, any voice but his own. It is this talent that made him wanted in several countries for fraud and identity theft. Alone, he is just a small nuisance, but if the wrong people were to find him, he would become a threat. I must find him before they do.

Oleander Haugen, 1001: 

Few are those who can resist his warm and welcoming aura. Emotions, feelings hold no secrets to him. People find themselves confiding in him. Trusting him. But there is a powerful mind hidden behind his silence. What makes him tick? How can I be sure he is on my side?

Pasha, 0333:

The most mysterious of them all. There is little information I could find on her but there is one thing that is clear: she is dangerous. Fueled by fear and regret, she will stop at nothing to guarantee she achieves her goal, whatever that may be. I must always keep an eye on her. 

The last name on the list is yours followed by the number 0000 but there is no description attached. Instead the Lady wrote down “May they never meet the others”.
