Sonic 3 was incredible, best film of 2024. I'm just so happy it just exists as a Sonic fan. Got some thoughts but spoilers so I'm putting them under the cut

I know the focus on the human characters (and even Longclaw) in the first film was pretty divisive - either you didn't mind them or just hated the intrusion into Sonic's world - but I think they really paid off in this film. Linking Sonic and Shadow's story through their families and crucially, the idea of revenge when their families are harmed, really paid off so well for the finale. I feel like it worked better than SA2 since there wasn't too much connection outside Sonic and Shadow looking similar (although I haven't played the games myself, just watched playthroughs so maybe I missed something).

Maria and Shadow were so cute together, I really liked those scenes. Them just being siblings together compared to the technical heartlessness of GUN was just so sweet.

Shadow is just so cool honestly. I'm so glad we're past the whole mid 2000s backlash.
