As someone who enjoys historical fashion and such: do you have any recourses on Victorian/Edwardian outfits that don't have long sleeves? Were there any? I overheat SO fast in long sleeves, I can't stand it, but I love historical silhouettes so much

In feminine clothing, Short sleeves were usually reserved for the most formal types of attire in those periods – generally considered eveningwear, though they could be worn for extremely formal day events as well. At least for adults; little girls could sometimes get away with more. Men didn’t even break from long sleeves in eveningwear, since they were still wearing suits. for summer, you see a lot of very lightweight, breathable fabrics that make long sleeves somewhat easier for most people (personally, I wear lightweight cotton long-sleeved shirts up to like 85°F, And I could probably push it further if I really had to). So if you wanted to try that, it’s definitely a good option. In the Edwardian era, you even start to see blouses with sleeves partially made out of lace – look up “insertion lace shirtwaist“ for more visuals and information.

(Don’t forget to carry some kind of sunshade or stay out of direct sunlight if you wear something like that, though – it doesn’t have a very high UV protection factor, and your arms can get sun damage just as easily as the rest of you.)

Of course, the beautiful part of living in the present day is that you don’t necessarily have to play by the rules of the past even if you want to wear their clothing. So if you wanted to, say, wear an antique corset cover (Undergarment) as a tank top, nobody could stop you!
