flora-faraday:
“They’d need both the keycard and the code,” Flora said, though the confidence in her system slightly wavered at Athena’s comment. She was assured that this system would be break-in proof but Flora was absolutely certain that Athena was smarter than the man that had installed it. Maybe he’d been appeasing her to make the sale. “I should be fine, right?” she said, setting down her wine glass and looking across her kitchen table to the brunette, “certainly that would be enough?” She sighed heavily, “I just dont want to repaint again.”
Still. Athena thought while her friend explained the new security system. The girl felt that if someone had the proper knowledge keycards and colds could be easily bypassed, but surely her former colleagues didn’t have the technological knowledge to do so. “You’ll be fine. I’m sure.” She wasn’t 100% sure but she didn’t want to worry her friend even more, especially after all the trouble she went through to fix everything. Sure, the idiots had to do clean everything for their community service, but that didn’t fix everything. “If you ever need something, maybe I can pull some favors.” Athena said making a mental list of people she could call.

flora-faraday:
“I’ll have you know that the store’s new security system is working quite well. Doesn’t use a key anymore either. It needs a code,” Flora said haughtily, her shoulders tensing as she thought back to why she’d needed to upgrade in the first place. It had been months since everything had been fixed up but she still found new things to do to make her store, her livelihood more secure from those miscreants.
Athena watched Flora as she told her everything about the new security system. “Not sure if that’s better, if someone figures out the code is actually easier for them” She commented a bit absentmindedly, as if her thoughts simply escaped from her mouth. As soon as she realized what she had said, Athena tried to soothe her friend’s worries “But I feel that if you change the code every two weeks or so, it’ll be fine.”

“That was also one of the main reasons why I sent Dorothy to her. The other was that I don’t think that my mother would react very well to me taking her to another trainer. Can you imagine the outrage ?” She joked, leaning forward. She couldn’t help but wonder the scandal her mother would make about such an insignificant thing and a part of her somehow regretted not taking the dog to another one just to anger her mother. She smiled when he petted Dorothy. “She’s a very good dog. Even before I took her to the trainer. Maybe being calm is genetic. Almost like people.” She took another sip of her coffee, licking her lips lightly after it, she didn’t want to ruin her lipstick. Athena let out a chuckle “Well then, I don’t think I’ll need anymore convincing. If my schedule is free I shall go this summer.” She listened to him speak, even though the idea of camping and the whole prospect of sleeping in the ground didn’t please her very much but she was determined to not let that show. When he assured her that it wasn’t going to be too rough, Athena almost wanted to let out a relieved sigh. “I love it! Me and my parents used to go camping sometime on the weekends.” Which meant just setting up a tent on the backyard, make some s’mores and sleep inside, but he didn’t need details. “That sounds beautiful. I’m sad I never heard about it before. But better late than ever. Oh ! There’s champagne, sign me up.” She laughed. Athena smoothed the dress on her lap and glanced up at him with a smile. “Oh no.” She shook her head, chuckling “Don’t you worry. I have no intent to dominate the world.” She nodded in agreement with him “You making an impact won’t be a hard thing to achieve.” She leaned forward “And I hope you can accomplish your dreams.”
“I imagine having all the family dogs trained in the same language must come quite in handy when you’re all gathered in one place,” Locksley offered with a grin, “one word will make the lot of them go still – that is if they’ve retained the training. Though looking at your beauty here, I imagine it must run in the family.” He leaned forward to run his hand over Dorothy’s head affectionately before sitting back in his chair. He missed his family’s dogs perhaps more than he missed most of his family. Mentally, he made a note to see about getting a dog of his own to keep him company, something affectionate and energetic. He nodded, “it is lovely. If you do go, I suggest you take advantage of the early spring festivals for the best time. Then make sure you visit the lakes at night. They shimmer like glass in the night with the clearest skies you’ve ever seen. Tell me, Athena. Are you the type to go camping in the moonlight? Nothing too rough and tumble, of course – I ask because there are quite a few private events hosted by the kingdom that involve lanterns on the water. It’s stunning. The champagne doesn’t hurt either.” His eyes lit up as she found a common thread between them, an amused smirk playing on his lips, “International business is impressive. Do you intend to take over the world with that? I don’t think I’d mind that much at all.” Locksley chuckled, tilting his head slightly as he formed this thoughts into a logical thread, “School isn’t the only reason, no. America is supposedly the land where dreams are made, is it not? I’m here working on my masters but I thought I’d also see what kind of impact I could make on the land.”

“It was a bit by chance. The trainer who I sent Dorothy to is French and doesn’t speak a word of English.” She let out a laugh and cocked her head slightly to the side “I could have sent her to a English speaking trainer, but the French trainer is an old family friend and the trained all my family’s dogs. I thought it would be rude not to have her trained by the same person.” Athena observed him while taking a sip of her coffee. She listened to him talk about his homeland never taking her blue eyes off him, but the name of his country sounded familiar. She searched her brain where she had heard it before. And, out of nowhere, she remembered. Flora was the that told her all about the Prydain princess dating an American commoner, even showing her the picture of the girl in a magazine. The brunette laughed “Prydain sounds lovely. Never had the chance to visit it, and now because of you, I shall add it to my list of places to visit.” She flashed a smile before throwing her hair back once again and locking her eyes with his. She read the title of the book and immediately recognized it “Oh! I study International Business. What a coincidence!” She grinned happily. “Is it school the only reason visiting America, or was it one of those times when two ideas work out perfectly?”
“Ah, she speaks french,” he grinned as he watched the dog approach the table and immediately sit, “and that dog is very well trained. Correct me if I’m completely off, but french wasn’t just on a whim was it? If it was, you sound fluent and you should thank your teacher.” Locksley sat back more comfortably in his chair, adjusting his posture from one of reading to one of company. “I’m from a small beautiful country named Prydain. Rolling hills, plenty of sheep, rich with culture. I imagine the accent is from there as well,” he teased, flashing yet another smile in her direction. Locksley slid his book back into sight and held up the cover for her to see a textbook for one of his graduate classes, “quite literally for business though I do enjoy the subject. Well, I should as it’s what I’ve chosen to study.”

In all her years at the school Athena thought the woman didn’t liked her. Of course Athena would get upset of how carefree Trish’s classes were sometimes. The other reason Trish probably wasn’t her favorite teacher there was because of her close relations to certain people that the girl disliked, and because of that Athena started preferring the company of Flora. “So, what have you been doing since leaving school ?” Athena asked half genuinely interested and half just trying to make polite small talk, something she’s been getting very good at. She watched as Trish looked in the mirror. “Yes. I believe the fitting room is right next to that row of purple dresses.” She informed Trish as she quickly glanced at the size. “You think ? I don’t want anything that’s going to clash. I want both colors to compliment each other.” Athena ranted as she held up the dress in front of her, inspecting it for any flaws.

She flashed him a smile “ Pleasure to meet you, Locksley.” She nodded in acceptance. “Dorothy, viens ici.” She called out for the dog, who appeared trotting between the tables, sitting in front of Athena. She sat in across from him, crossing her legs. She licked her lips before speaking again“So, where is that accent from?” She asked curiously, leaning slightly forward. When he gestured to her book she just chuckled “Oh, just for pleasure. Even though I read it many times before.” Athena shrugged, sliding the book back in her bag. The girl politely signaled her waiter that she had moved, and he quickly settled her cup of coffee right in front of her. “Thank you.” She smiled at the waiter before looking back at Locksley. “And what about you ?Reading for pleasure or business?” The girl asked before taking a sip of her coffee.
Locksley was not a shy man. He was always willing to meet new people and just change his plans on a whim. Today was no different. When he winked at the beautiful brunette, he knew it would either draw her over or just make her feel really good, and who couldn’t do with a confidence boost here or there - both outcomes were good enough for him but he was glad she chose to walk over. “Name’s Locksley,” he shook her offered hand with that same confident grin in place before leaning forward and gesturing to the chair across from his own, “why don’t you join me for a cup of coffee? I’m sure your server won’t have any trouble finding you over here.” He closed his book and slid it to the side so he could leave his full attention on Athena. Curiously looking at her book, he nodded, “what have you got there? Business or pleasure?” Something about her made him think she had plenty of culture, so it was likely the book wouldn’t be some obvious fair. Not that the popular things were any less exciting to read, he just assumed that by the look of her - she’d be into something a little bit off the beaten path. However, he could be judging a book by its cover which, if the saying meant anything, meant he’d be wrong.

The little King Charles Spaniel, Dorothy, sat down next to the table waiting for Athena’s order. “Dorothy, en baisse” And with that the dog laid down. Athena sent Dorothy to be trained by the same french lady who had previously trained Athena’s family dogs. The girl crossed her legs and flipped her hair of her shoulder, eyeing the menu searching something that pleased her “ Coffee, black.” She politely told the waiter, flashing him a smile, settling for a simple cup of coffee. She pulled her book out of her bag as she waited. The brunette opened the book where she had left it the last time, she had read it a thousand times before so it was starting to bore her, she needed something new.Her eyes scanned the perimeter. Her eyes met other pair of blue eyes, he winked at her, there it was, something new. She studied him for second, well dressed, definitely not shy, reading for pleasure, he didn't seemed to be american and he was handsome. The points just kept adding up. She got up, letting her yellow sundress swish at every step she took towards him. She laughed lightly “The sentiment is exactly the same.” Athena smiled widely “I’m Athena.” she introduced herself offering her hand to him.
It had taken a few weeks but thankfully he’d finally moved in to his apartment and set everything how he liked. He’d even enrolled in the Grad program at the local college. Everything was perfect, so he decided to get a jump on his reading for class with allowances for any kind of distraction. He was a diligent student but he was more inclined to have some fun instead. Sitting at a cafe, he settled on the patio and read while occasionally peering around at his surroundings. And suddenly his surrounding became quite beautiful by way of a pair of striking blue eyes. Smirking lightly as their gaze met, he winked and turned back to his book only to find she’d approached not a minute later. “If we have met, I’m kicking myself because I don’t seem to remember your name. And I should’ve remembered.”

Athena left her house with her little Spaniel, Dorothy, and they both headed to the coffee shop. The brunette sat outside reading a book as she waited for the waiter to bring her order. She often peaked over her book to see the people around and her eyes met the ones of a boy sitting close. She stopped her reading and walked over him. She smiled at “I’m sorry. Have we met before ? You look familiar.”

Athena raised her eyebrows in surprise, it wasn’t often that she was invited for lunch, unless she was getting paid for that and it rarely involved any food. “Oh!” She smiled widely “I’d love to. I was probably just going to grab something to eat at home, but this is a much better idea.” She quickly scan her mental planner to see if she had any appointments today, luckily, she didn’t. “I mean, it would be a big mistake. To let a beautiful dress like that slip between your fingers, just like that.” The girls attention shifted away slightly to a blue skin tight dress “I was in a desperate need of a girls night out dress” She lied, smiling widely at Trish pulling the dress from the rack.
