9. The Warrior of Light has been through quite a lot, but what is a moment, big or small, that bolstered and renewed their spirit? Was it a cup of hot cocoa or a lovingly crafted sandwich? Did someone give them a few words or a gesture at just the right time that meant the world to them? (Of course, this can be a canon event or headcanon!)
There are a few that come to mind.
He’s not very good at talking to people in general, let alone his fellow scions, but he cherishes every time that he can just sit down and talk to them without worrying about the world ending or something.
He especially appreciates being able to sit down one-on-one with Alisaie. She’s one of the few people who can actually slap some sense into the man without also wanting to kill him.
Haurchefant’s hospitality was also greatly appreciated. For a guy he was somewhat cautious around due to various High House-related shenanigans, he really made him feel welcomed. He provided the security and safety he needed at the time, and reminded him that there are some nice people in Ishgard, you just have to look really hard. He also makes a nice hot chocolate.
#ffxiv#aurlaux lore#wolthinkthonkers#this one was just kind of nice#love a man who struggles with interpersonal relationships#also my melatonin’s kicked in and I’m tired as hell I should go to bed

Is your WoL a cuddly sleeper?
#he is!#he isn't very touchy when he's conscious (mostly because of weird anxiety issues and whatnot)#but he will cling to you and never let go if he's asleep#aurlaux lore#ffxiv

8. What is one of their biggest regrets? Has it had an effect on how they act moving forward, for better or worse?
He's a man with many regrets, many of which revolve around his social and familial life.
He regrets everything involving his father. He wishes that he had never tried to impress a man who did not care for him. His foolishness and inability to realize cost him his closest friend and in the end never amounted to anything positive.
He regrets never meeting his mother. Everything he had heard from his father and the people who knew her in the Brume made her out to be a saint. A woman who was willing to fight for her beliefs while keeping those around her safe and warm. The entire reason he picked up weaving in the first place was to follow in her footsteps in regards to charity work.
He regrets not getting to know the dead better. Those he had met on his adventures, those who helped him when all was lost, those who hated his guts, and those he would call a friend. Every person had a complex life outside of what he knew and he wishes that he could have heard more about it.
#ffxiv#aurlaux lore#wolthinkthonkers#one day ill go into real detail on his mother#basically she had to abandon her child after being accused of heresy by his birth father#and then decided “fuck it if im going to die for being a heretic might as well actually become one”#so she's questionably still alive#but why would either of them know that aurlaux changed his entire name and he doesn't know all that much about her

7. Have they gone through any physical changes? What scars have they collected, and how do they feel about them? Did they sprout horns or other features as a result of spells or pacts gone wrong? How did light corruption impact them? Or have they walked away miraculously unscathed? Are they more peculiar for how eerily unmarred they are?
Oh boy, has he.
I would argue that the light corruption changed him the most. Aurlaux lives in a permanent state of not being exactly mortal but not being a full sin eater either. His body is stuck in a form of half-transformation, as most of the light aether could not be cleansed from his body, but enough was removed to not fully turn him.
This has lead to an odd number of issues that he is unfortunately stuck dealing with such as:
Glowing light cracks on the right side of his body
A glowing right eye
Parts of his body have weird bumps on them from wings and claws that never took form
A line around his jaw from a mask that also never formed
Pearlescent bodily fluids
Hypermobility virtually everywhere
Longer limbs
Along with the light bullshittery, there are also several battle scars on his body due to general recklessness and lack of care for his physical self.
The big ones are:
A large scythe scar across his back from a certain garlean fighty boy. It is one of the few things he has to remember him by.
Two large claw marks on his stomach and leg from Nidhogg (Nidstinien??)
A large sword scar from Elidibus on his shoulder.
A separate katana scar from Zenos on his thigh.
A deep scratch mark from Zunha on his face.
Backalley Brume top-chop.
Blast scar around his right eye.
As for how he feels about his collection, the battle scars across his body do not usually bother him, it's simply part of the job after all.
The light markings on the other hand are a different story. He actually has a glamour crystal embedded in his eye mask specifically to make it less apparent to other people. It's better to not worry other people, especially those close to him. He simply told those who were with him in Norvrandt that they faded away after defeating Hades. Whether or not they actually believe him is a different story.
#ffxiv#wolthinkthonkers#aurlaux lore#is my light lore kind of halfbaked? yes#but the general gist is there i actually just have to sit down and work it out#yes i am fully aware that it breaks canon metamorphosis rules#but also i don't think most sin eater victims are actively devouring several lightwardens#besides its my character piss off

6. Who was their Azem? What were they like, and were they different from your WoL? Who were their family, friends? Or, if you don't care for the Azem angle or went in your own direction for their past self, how so? How does your WoL feel about their Ancient identity?
Astraios, the Soulspeaker. Known to many as Azem.
They were hard to read, intentionally so. They hid their eyes and never opened their mouth, instead opting to speak telepathically. Perhaps it was just more comfortable for them, or perhaps there was something they were hiding. (but it's probably just comfort.)
They were eccentric at best, and ominous at worst. Half of the words they "spoke" were somewhat cryptic, and asking for clarification usually only made things worse. How they got elected to the position of Azem is beyond most people's comprehension.
That isn't to say they weren't competent though. In fact, they were shockingly good at their job.
As for friends, they appeared to have a few, although they would have struggled to refer to them as such. Of course, there was Hythlodaeus and Hades, who they did not mind the company of… although they were hard to talk to individually.
Their relationship with Aurlaux is… complicated. When split into shards, the ability to speak to the soul never quite left, it was just lessened. When the Seventh Umbral Calamity happened, that rejoining caused him to occasionally hear the fractured voice of his past self, an incident chalked up to a simple brain injury for years.
He has grown accustomed to the freak who lives in his soul, and the occasional chattering reminds him that he is never truly alone.

lmao can I just say how blatantly wrong I was
A. My fisher reached 90 before I reached my triple triad goal (344 cards)
B. I did in fact know how to fish, I just assumed I was misunderstanding the job
C. Ocean fishing is incredibly fun and I don’t know why I was afraid to go into it at first, everyone’s usually very nice in there
This is my pitch to those hesitant to play fisher, it’s honestly really fun and if you like ripping things apart with your bare hands it also has that.
