The truth of the 8th House

I have seen a plethora of posts praising the 8th house of intimacy, of going deep within, where a cosmic relationship can sprout out of. I want to preface this post saying that not every house is good and we can acknowledge when houses yield possible negative outcomes. The 8th house is inconjunct (quincunx) to the ascendant. In other words, the ascendant cannot see the 8th house and therefore, light cannot penetrate it---which is why this house is usually associated with “darkness” or what lies underneath. Other inconjunct houses to the ascendant include: 2nd, 6th, and the 12th houses. When we think about dating we date is from an array of places in our chart; our moon, our venus, even our sun. In accordance to houses, we usually want someone who see agreement with our identity, and see us, which predominately relates to our ascendant. When we have synastry overlays with our 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, hell even our 9th and 11th it’s because these houses can be seen from our ascendant (the 3rd and 11th are sextile, the 5th and 9th are trine and 7th is opposite; although the 7th can also be where enemies are found so proceed with caution). It’s these houses where light can be seen and where connection is valued. The 8th house has been fickle with its interpretations, especially in the modern era. I don’t intend to tell you what to do with your 8th house or instead, I’m merely introducing an alternate and incredibly founded view of the 8th house in astrology. Typically, the 8th house is our bank. It includes things like taxes, student loans, and wills (sexy, right?). It’s a house of costs which is why it’s sextile to the other house of debt; the 6th house. Usually what you borrow must be paid off or it will travel with you throughout your life. According to a tweet by Sam Reynolds, the 8th house is the cost of living, or simply being alive. Which if you think about debt, the only way you can get rid of it is if you die (LMAO). Now, the interpretation of the 8th house as the sex house is largely a modern idea and if you follow the linear logic of the 7th house being marriage then one could assume that sex would soon follow; although why would we situate sex, a pleasurable recreational act in a house that holds things like death and death? We could easily push it into the 5th house or even the 7th house. Intimacy is within our connections and the more platonic connections can be found in the 3rd, or even the 11th. Moreover, the 8th house has a hand in power dynamics. There exists an unequal and transactional quality in this house. One who has more power usually takes from the one who has less power. It’s where we conceal things that tend to be taboo in nature to society (which is why it’s square to the 11th). While by that, it can include sex it doesn’t make much sense to include pleasures and intimacy in a house that is transactional or has a give-and-take quality. Intimacy is about communicating, being reciprocated without costs. By that notion, 8th house isn’t such a great locator for intimacy, but it is for therapy.

I just wanna say that Mark [ NCT ] and I literally share the same birth chart except for our moon and prob rising sign. Its just really interesting how he is out there spreading his creativity while I'm here procrastinating lol. Anyhow, considering that we have the same chart. it depends. truly its integral to know ur full chart and that u both are two different people! he also has a grand fire trine given his leo sun, aries moon and sag pluto! so thats something to keep in mind that aspects and houses will make a big impact on the energy of the person

Yeah it’s that mutable/mercury energy. His Venus square mars in Virgo and Gemini can make him fickle. He doesn’t have a great history with long term romances. He wants to be fueled in the moment and after that he runs away. However, he KNOWS this shit is bad bc his moon needs partnership he just needs to find the right one and he may feel like he will never find the one so WHY not get enjoyment out in short sparked romances? His logic is fucked but dw he will try to defend it. In terms of interest, his Venus and mercury will pop most until you guys grow close. If he wants to do things for you or talk heavily about his interests he may want you to reciprocate. Although he’s not very emotionally inclined. He will limit his space and be more emotionally dishonest which could be annoying. He just needs someone who can put up with his inconsistencies tbh

So with that Venus square moon both in domicile..you tend to be fickle about love. You are a bit insecure and tend to not phrase things well (mercury in Pisces). You need something filled with spark but also need emotional support. This person may show interest in peculiar ways. Granted, their Venus and mercury is what you will notice first, the moon will be more reserved. So if interested they will want to have fun, do seemingly “weird” things, perhaps do something art related. When they become more vulnerable (revealing their moon) that’s when u hit it big

Mercury in Taurus makes your thoughts very deliberative and matter of factly. For you info has to be tangible, you have to see it to believe it. Mercury in Taurus typically have slow cognitive processing but you like weighing your options thoroughly before making a decision.

His Venus is strong so those qualities u will notice first. However, his moon is perhaps square to Venus (Venus overpowering the moon in this case) so he does seek partnership but he may not know how to maintain or focus on the emotional aspects. He wants form and structure (Aquarius) in the relationship and may want distance despite being so sensual and touchy so he can be confusing once y’all hit it off! Moon square Venus peeps are quite emo and feel insecure so just reaffirm his Venusian qualities and u will be good to go!

It just means u were born on a full moon (which is pretty cool). Full moon babies can be quite emo just bc they were born into this world during the height of the lunar cycle! Ultimately you have to reconcile these very different but similar parts of yourself so you can be active and creative rather than critical and immobile

How to win over a pisces sun cap moon?

Be there for them. These are people who can be exceptionally giving and lose track of themselves and where they stand in the mix of everything happening in their life. So remind them. Remind them to focus on themselves too. It’s so easy for a Pisces sun and Capricorn moon to make adjustments for everyone else but themselves. So try and help them with that task.
