Lord Vimond Targaryen [158 B.C.--135 B.C.]
Tumblr media
Lord Vimond Targaryen was the first-born child of Lord Vaellar Targaryen and Lady Naelarys Aereneos born in 158 B.C. and the presumed heir until his early death in 135 B.C.. Unfortunately, it is unknown which specific battle or war he died in. Lord Aenar’s records, however, make it clear that he looked up to his eldest brother, naming him the fiercest dragon rider of their generation, claiming that it was the reason he was targeted during the battle and from this it can be inferred he was indeed a brave warrior, not shying away from the front lines. In addition to his prowess in battle he also carried a Valyrian steel blade known as heartfyre. Aside from these specifics, like his father, Lord Vaellar, very few details of his life were known aside from his wife and their children and grandchildren.
Lord Vimond was born in 158 B.C. and was a strong and healthy child as was predicted when his mother claimed a dragon while pregnant. However, unlike most Valyrians, he was born with bright red hair, earning him the nickname “Fireborn”, he did however have the dark brooding violet eyes of his father. As the first born child and son, his mother Lady Naelarys, doted on him and they had a very special bond as he grew up. Lord Aenar claimed in his journals that Vimond grew to be incredibly handsome and could have had his choice of bride but did his duty by his mother’s traditions and married his sister Lady Velaenora (still a beautiful woman but was more athletic and lither than feminine and delicate) in 142 B.C. They were happy during their short marriage, but they weren’t ever truly at peace together. Aenar recorded that his sister would often complain about the way women would stare and throw themselves at Vimond leading her to mistrust him. However, according to Aenar, Vimond remained a dutiful and faithful husband during their 7-year marriage, but it was with little enthusiasm for his chosen wife. As a result of their tensions, it would lead Vimond to spend a lot of time away from home serving as a commander in the Valyrian army, spending most of his days in the saddle of his dragon. Vimond loved to fly, he claimed his dragon when he was young, at just 5 years old. In 147 B.C. he claimed Cytu “the Eternal Fire”, a borderline wild young dragon whose coloring made it look like a shimmering flame. They had a deep bond and Lord Vimond could control his wild natured dragon better than any of the dragon tamers and mages that belonged to the Targaryen’s.

Lord Vimond, like his brothers, was schooled in the ways of war but their father, Lord Vaellar, saw to it that they were also studying the history of Valyria, the cultures of their colonies, and expected them to be leaders in the next generation and lead with honor and chivalry. Vimond, according to Aenar was the very epitome of these things and was riding his dragon into battle by the age of 14. Lord Vimond also spent time with his brothers studying with their father on how to rule their own house, their own territories as governors, and the politics of court. Lord Vaellar wanted to make sure that even if he was not accepted by the Great Lords, his sons would be. Part of their tutoring involved their duty to the family and how important it was to put the family above all else. Lord Vimond took these lessons to heart and when it came time to marry, he married his younger sister Lady Velaenora in 142 B.C.. Within the first two years of their marriage Velaenora was pregnant with their first child, Rhaesella Targaryen, in 140 B.C. Rhaesella was named for Vimond’s and Velaenora’s younger sister Relaenna, whom they were both close with. Lord Vimond remained at home for the first year to welcome their first child, Rhaesella, and as a result Lady Velaenora quickly fell pregnant again within that same year however, her joy at being pregnant was cut short when their mother passed away from childbed fever 5 moons later. Every one of Lady Naelarys children took her death hard but for Vimond and Velaenora they were particularly afraid of what that could mean for Velaenora’s pregnancy. They were both also extremely close with their mother, being her first son and daughter respectively, and they mourned her loss deeply together bringing them somewhat closer together through tragedy. Thankfully, due to their support for one another during their grief, Velaenora’s pregnancy went smoothly, and in the first few moons of 139 B.C. she gave birth to another girl, Naeresa, who they named in honor of their mother. Unfortunately, despite their renewed relationship, Lord Vimond was not able to stay away from the battlefield any longer and left to fight for the next two years. In 137 B.C. he returned for 6 moons and left just after it was announced that Lady Velaenora was pregnant again, he was able to take leave to see the birth of his first son, Daemion, in 136 B.C., but unfortunately he was only home for three moons before having to leave again, and tragically this would be the last he would see of his family. He was killed in an unspecified battle somewhere in the empire when an enemy scorpion bolt took out his dragon and he plummeted to his death in 135 B.C.. His loss hit the Targaryen family hard, Vimond had been the clear heir to his father, Lord Vaellar, and House Targaryen and he was everything his father wanted. He was charming, charismatic, thoughtful, and careful in his actions, he was a smart and confident leader and above all else was an excellent warrior and dragonrider having been known to fight even upside down cutting down foes on castle walls and mountain ledges. Lady Velaenora took his death the hardest, not stirring from her bed for almost a month. However, one visit from the crying 6-month-old Daemion roused her from her deep depression and she moved forward for the benefit of her children. Surprisingly her father never required her to remarry, seeming to understand how deeply she felt her loss for Vimond. Eventually however, Velaenora overcame her heartbreak and remarried however, while she remained in Valyria she would always visit his tomb in the family mausoleum on the anniversary of his death and paid her respects.

Hi! I think the amount of detail you’ve put into creating these is extraordinary! May I ask generally how you instruct mid journey to get a result like this? If you don’t feel like sharing I understand but I’m on the mid journey trial now and I’m only getting ugly results, and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong?
Anyway like I said this is super creative and really freaking cool! Well done!!!
Hi! First thank you, glad you've enjoyed my work so far. When it comes to midjourney time and patience it is key. I find a starting point that I somewhat like and then continue to re-roll and add the links of photos that are getting closer to the desired outcome. I don't know how to explain it any better than that I'm sorry. But keep at it, a lot of my images start out ugly but as I add in my input images and fine tune the prompt I get the images I want but it takes several variations.

Lord Vaellar Targaryen [178-102 B.C.] Pt 2
Tumblr media
[Pictured Above: Lord Vaellar and Lady Naelarys with young Vaenys and Velaenora]
In 142 Vimond [15] and his younger sister Velaenora [13] were officially betrothed by Lord Vaellar and Lady Naelarys and married later that year, to Lady Naelarys’ great delight. She had worried that the odd lower-class tradition of marrying for political gain would not be abandoned by Vaellar. Having grown up in a different class than her husband she wanted her children to only marry within their lineage or to another family of the Great Lords of Valyria to ensure that “the bloodline stays as pure as possible”, something that would eventually cause a great many problems and obstacles that the Targaryen’s would have to overcome in future generations. While Vimond and Velaenora’s marriage was a happy one it was abruptly cut short when Lord Vimond died in one of the many territorial disputes of the empire when his dragon, Yto, was shot down with by a scorpion in 135 B.C.  However, despite only being married a relatively short time, it was a fruitful marriage, producing two daughters, Rhaesella (for her sister) in 140 B.C. and Naeresa (for her mother Naelarys) in 139 B.C. and a son Daerion Targaryen in 136 B.C. Unfortunately, Lady Naelarys would only get to meet one of her grandchildren and was only able to enjoy a few months of being a grandmother before she passed away in late 140 B.C at the young age of 36.
Despite her unfortunately early death, Lady Naelarys still got to see her three eldest children married. In the same year Lord Vimond and Lady Velaenora married, Lord Vaenys, their second son, would marry his cousin on his mother’s side, Lady Nasaena Malaenor (ne Aereneos). This arrangement was able to satisfy both Lady Naelarys traditions and Lord Velaenor’s ambition to continue ensuring their social status by marrying further into one “Great Houses” of Valyria. While it was a fruitful marriage, producing 8 children, it was not always a happy marriage. It was known that Lord Vaenys enjoyed pillow houses and had claimed at least four bastards, none of which were raised within the family or given legitimacy. Lady Relaenna was the next to marry but unlike her siblings she married someone from an upper-class trading family. Lord Vaellar was reticent to consent to the marriage as it brought it him no prestige and would further the idea that he didn’t belong amongst the “Great Families”. However, Relaenna gave him little choice by giving her maidenhood to Tahaedor Calaenor (b. 153 B.C.). They married in 133 B.C. in a discrete ceremony attended only by family. By marrying into House Targaryen, Tahaedor became part of the nobility class and became known as Lord Tahaedor Calaenor “the dragon tamer”, and, like his mother-in-law, upon marring into House Targaryen to everyone’s surprise (as he came from a family with no dragons or dragonriders) he claimed a fierce young dragon, Vaehamarys “the quiet one”, and became an unexpectedly fierce dragon rider allied with House Targaryen. Though Relaenna and Tahaedor’s marriage started out passionately it quickly fizzled out as Relaenna discovered his wandering eye, learning, to her great surprise, that he already had a 3-year-old bastard son he had claimed, Taecenyx Calaenor. While Relaenna grew to resent her husband, she was always kind and motherly towards his bastard children allowing them to take the family name Calaenor and never holding their father’s actions against them. Together Relaenna and Tahaedor only had one legitimate son, Vaemion Calaenor in 131 B.C., named for her father. In that same year, Lord Aenar and Lady Alaeria were married. They, out of all their siblings, had the strongest relationship having grown up close together in age and interests, they were also both dragon riders, Aenar riding Aelu and Alaeria on Vlydra. They would go on to have four children, one being Daenys the Dreamer, the prophetess. Lady Alaehna and Lord Aemor were always expected to marry but Alaehna knew the truth that Aemor had no interest in women and would never love her as more than his sister or provide her children. So, in 120 B.C. Lady Alaehna wed a Prince of The Summer Isles, Jaerys Qo, while this caused some grumblings from Lord Vaellar, he was quickly appeased by the prince’s charm, adventurous spirit, wealth, and land holdings in the Summer Isles. They would go on to have 7 living children. Lord Aemor would remain unmarried and childless but remained close with his siblings and their children, with his twin sister even naming one of her children for him. He had a long-time lover in one of the families retainers, Jaenar Baelreos, who remained a welcome part of House Targaryen and made Lord Aemor very happy. Lord Vaellar was close with all his children, but he loved to dote on his grandchildren, in particular, Naeresa, who grew up to remind him of his beloved wife and the mysterious Daenys with her gift of prophecy.
Little else is known about Lord Vaellar other than he did not join his son in moving their household to Dragonstone despite still being alive at the time. He so fervently believed in Daenys’ prophecy that he stayed behind and tried to convince as many people as possible to evacuate Valyria. It is rumored a select few listened and went to Valyrian outposts in the free cities with the largest concentration going to Lys. It is assumed that Lord Vaellar died during the Doom with his dragon Firestorm.

Lord Vaellar Targaryen [178-102 B.C.]
Tumblr media
The first known Targaryen Lord in written history is named Lord Vaellar Targaryen. He was Lord Aenar Targaryen’s [AKA Aenar the Exile’s] father and there is little of that history to be known. What is known of Lord Vaellar was found in a centuries old book buried deep within a pile of books in a wing of the Dragonstone Fortress that had long since been abandoned. When the wing was restored, the book found was guessed to be one of Lord Aenar’s personal journals. Since he considered himself and his kin to be the only remaining true Valyrian’s in the world after The Doom, he thought it important to keep a written record. Adding to his sense of his own importance was the fact his family were the last dragonriders in the world, so he believed their knowledge and lives should be recorded and documented for posterity.
The first full and intact record that remained of Lord Vaellar Targaryen [b. 178 B.C.] is that of his betrothal and wedding to Lady Naelarys of House Aereneos [b.176 B.C.] in 160 B.C. Aenar recorded that the match was made because while the House of Aereneos was old and powerful, they were also close to bankruptcy and, as a result, they were at risk of being publicly shamed if anyone at court were to find out how dire their finances truly were. The marriage was a desperate maneuver by Lord Aereneos to ensure that his 5 daughters, the eldest being Lady Naelarys, wouldn’t lose their status at court by ensuring a marriage alliance that was mutually beneficial for both Houses. Though the Targaryen’s were high lords, even having few of their number being dragonriders, they were not considered amongst the families of the “Great Dragon Lords of Valyria”. They were, however, one of the wealthiest families in Valyria. This marriage ensured that the Targaryen’s would get what they had been seeking for generations: entrance to the “Great Lords” club. Though they were still looked down upon for having bought their way in, thus the financial troubles of House Aereneos would remain a secret since once the two families joined, Vaellar through Naelarys would inherit his title, territories and holdings from the House of Aereneos in addition to those of House Targaryen. Though some whispered about the reasons for this unusual match*, Lord Vaellar and Lady Naelarys did not mind being matched, as they had been friends since their youth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is little record of Lord Vaellar Targaryen’s or Lady Naelarys personal lives or their accomplishments except for the records of their marriage, the birth of their children, and their children’s subsequent marriages and children. In 161 B.C. Vaellar and Naelarys were betrothed and in 160 B.C. they were officially married. Two years after the wedding, in 158 B.C., Lady Naelarys fell pregnant with their first child and, in an unprecedented turn of events, she claimed a dragon from one of the Targaryen’s fleet, Vinyx, which was seen to be a good omen for the pregnancy and the future of their House. Vinyx was a beautiful she-dragon with cream, gold, green and purple, iridescent scales. Vinyx had recently laid a clutch of eggs herself, leading people to suspect she had bonded with Lady Naelarys, sensing a soon to be mother. Soon after Vinyx was claimed by Naelarys, she gave birth to their first child, a son named Vimond “Fireborn” Targaryen, a healthy and robust redheaded child. In 155, she again fell pregnant giving Lord Vaellar another son, Vaenys Targaryen. In 153 B.C. Lady Naelarys finally gave birth to the daughter she had so desired, Velaenora, and again in 149 B.C. she gave birth to another daughter, Relaenna. In 145 B.C. Lady Naelarys gave birth to her 5thchild and 3rd son, Aenar Targaryen and, a little more than a year later in 144 B.C., she gave birth again to a daughter Alaeria Targaryen. Shortly after the birth 6th child, Alaeria, Lady Naelarys fell pregnant again, however, now in her 30s, the pregnancy took more of a toll on her body and she unfortunately miscarried sometime in 143 B.C. and finally in 140 B.C. she fell pregnant again for the last time. She unfortunately passed away at 36 of child bed fever after giving birth to her final son and daughter, twins, Aemor and Alaehna Targaryen, who fortunately survived the birth. Lord Vaellar was reportedly never the same after her passing and in an unusual move for a lord his age, he never remarried. However, once Lady Naelarys passed away, Lord Vaellar became the heir to both House Targaryen and House Aereneos and all their incomes and land holdings making him a “Great Lord” if not in name, then in practice.
Tumblr media
*In the “Great Houses” of Valyria, they traditionally either had incestuous marriages or they married into another great house (usually still incestuous because of how intermarried the 14 families were, one for each of the “14 flames of Valyria”). So, Lady Naelarys’ marriage to Vaellar was considered somewhat scandalous, and there were rumors that she might have given away her maidenhood to Lord Vaellar and they were hastily married for that reason, however the rumors ceased when, after a year, they still had no children.*
