He tapped his chin thoughtfully for a minute before answering. “Perhaps it’s all a bit ironic that I’d choose to marry Queen Erin and kill Batilda. In the past, of course I tried to marry Batilda, but I suppose since then my resentment has grown. Yet I’d have married Erin in a heartbeat. She was a beautiful woman, and she had a fire in her heart that is quite admirable. She seems like someone I could spend the rest of my life with and never get bored. It’s a shame she had to die. I assure you, it was nothing personal.”

“That just leaves Mistress Havala, then. Mm, I’ll stand by it. She’s a lovely lady.”

Conner has to pause. The kiss had caught him completely off guard, and in his eyes one could see him analyzing it, as if to assure himself it was some trick. But Harlowe wasn’t like him. No, this was a genuine display of… Affection? Care? Certainly not something Conner had come to know well.

The slightest grin and blush creeps onto his face. “Oh. Why thank you, Lord Harlowe… How very sweet of you.”

“I realized just how terribly I’d messed up with that incident particularly while I was with Vargan in the war. Using innocent children for your own gain is despicable. Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about poor Latamer now.”

Who was your favorite of the 3 boys as a person?

“I never particularly liked any of them, but I suppose that Roden wasn’t terrible. He wasn’t full of himself like Tobias or annoying like Sage.”

What were your first impressions on the 3 boys?

Not regarding their usefulness for my plan:

Tobias was fine. I liked that he was educated, but he acted as though he was above it all for a while. I didn’t like that.

Roden stood out to me in a way I can’t place— It’s odd, because there’s nothing that special about him.

Sage was amusing at first, not like the other two. Too bad it got annoying so fast.

10: Mott, Harlowe. They’re wonderful people I could never hope to be like.

8: Kerwyn. I’ve always had great respect for Kerwyn. He’s quite irreplaceable.

6: Erin. I admire her personality.

5: Eckbert. He’s alright.

2: Veldergrath. He only gets points because he’s nice to look at. That’s it.

1: Cregan. If he weren’t such a useful vigil I’d rank him at 0.

i also ought to clarify that there’s no distinct timeline i’m following on this blog. sometimes asks are answered while conner is still regent, sometimes it’s after he’s been arrested, some answers might even be after his death. depends on the question i suppose.
