Both Gothitelle blinked in surprise as Baozhai examined Harry. After a moment, Harry was unable to contain himself any longer, and burst out laughing.
“Oh man! No, no! No ma’am! I’m not the one you’re,” he paused to snort, “training. Too bad, huh? I have to say I think I’m a pretty good candidate myself, but --”
“It’s, uh, me,” Cesare called out, though his voice faltered a tad at the end. Catching this, he spoke with his voice slightly raised afterwards. “I’m the one that will be training with Yemir and going to this region, whatever its name is. I understand it’s a desert area. I’ve been to the desert before.” he stood as straight as he could, to appear taller and ... proper to Baozhai, maybe.
“So when do we set off?” he asked, hoping that if he just went right past the partner selection debacle, then everything would be peachy.
[x] [ @askgothitelle ]
As soon as Cesare agreed, Yemir’s eyes twinkled with joy as she jumped up and down like an excited child. “Hell yeah! I knew I could count on the Cheese Man!” The Gallade cozied up to Cesare’s side, wrapping an arm around his shoulder in a buddy buddy manner, flashing those sharp teeth of her’s. Harry’s indignant response only seemed to make her all the more happier.
At her friend’s inquiry, the Gallade paused, having nearly forgotten about it. “Shit, that’s right. Fortunately, at least in this case, Granny Bao has been sticking to me like she was my shadow. Oi, Granny Bao, ya there?!” Yemir called out of nowhere with no direction in mind. At first, there seemed to be no response. That is, until Yemir felt a large presence loom over her.
“What is it, Yemir?” The empress responded coldly from behind the two, enough to make the Gallade let out a small yelp as she spun around.
“So that’s what it feels like…” Yemir grumbled before shaking her head a bit. “Ah, right, meant to say I found the person I’m willing to train with me!” Yemir stated with a smug look on her face. Before the Gallade could say anything else, Baozhai walked past Cesare and up to Harry, scratching her armored chin with intrigue.
“Ah yes, one of the individuals that fought Eudai when he was still possessing the girl. A bit on the lean side, even for a Gothitelle. However, he seems tall, has that predator instinct, good mental powers. A decent choice, though I doubt he’d be suited for your kind of training.” The empress huffed as Yemir remained at Cesare’s side, mouth agape, practically speechless that Baozhai just flat out ignored her and Cesare.

Harry let out a yelp as the miniscule Gallade struck his knee. The nerve!
“Oi!” he called out, “The hell’s that for? Can’tcha take some jokin’ around?” he held his knee in his hand.
All the while, Cesare eyed Yemir, appearing to be deep in thought. It felt like he just got back.
Still ... Yemir was a friend. In a way, she had helped them escape with her outburst. And she seemed pretty desperate. In fact, Cesare felt that if he turned her down, he would likely go down the same path as Harry. Or worse. Maybe she’d bite him or something.
Furthermore, training could help to be a safeguard against Eudai, should he ever rear his head around Cesare again. Cesare still felt ashamed at how effortlessly Eudai was able to flick him away. This had to end.
And so, the Gothitelle continued to stare at Yemir for just a moment longer before speaking.
“I’ll come with you. I don’t have much else to do. So where is this place? Do you know anything about it, or are you as in the dark as I am?”

"Oi, Cactus Butt. Have you seen Cheese Man? I need to speak to him." The miniature Gallade quipped, now shorter than Harry with an unamused look on her face. "Also, were you guys back at the forest? Granny Bao caught me up on what happened during my little... Temper Tantrum." Yemir scratched the back of her head awkwardly. "Hope I didn't accidentally try to squish any of you guys or crush you... Or eat you for that matter."

“It looks like the giantess is now a dwarf!” Harry cackled, basking in the fact that he was now significantly taller than Yemir. “So how’s the weather down there, anyway? S’been a while since I was that miniscule.”
But, Yemir had a question. “Hmmmm … he should be back at his place now. Who knows what he’s doing. Though, if you ask me –”
“Yemir?”
Cesare had appeared, then, having heard the familiar voices.
“Oh, look! Speak of the devil and he shall appear!” Harry was clearly just enjoying himself today. Cesare waved him off. Then he went to get a closer look at Yemir.
Tumblr media
She was even shorter than he was.
“Well,” he began. “It’s … new. But don’t worry! It’s not bad! You can still be … imposing, I’m sure.
But that’s not the point. I overheard you, and yeah, we were at the forest. Fighting off that … wonderful brother of yours.” Harry wheezed at his last remark. “Gee, Cesare, was that sarcasm? I couldn’t tell.”
“Harry, please … as you can see though, we got out okay. But just barely. The other three are fine too – Liz, Perseus, and Madeleine, I mean. If I’m honest, your rampage is actually part of what helped us escape, so, thanks for that.”
“Your brother tried to eat me though!” Harry butt in.
“Oh yeah,” Cesare gestured towards Harry. “That apparently happened. But … it’s fine now, I guess. What about you? I’m sure things have changed a whole lot on your side.”

Finally, Harry and Cesare were back in Sinnoh. And Floaroma Town wasn’t far.
Harry jabbed his elbow into his shorter companion’s side. “So, you n’ Elizabeth. A thing now?”
“I guess so,” Cesare said. “But it did just happen, so don’t go prying.”
Harry shrugged. Fair enough, there wasn’t much for him to try and dig up yet. “It’ll be real nice to get home, that’s for sure. Out of this snow hell and away from all that crazy ghost stuff.”
Harry definitely had a point. Cesare was also happy to be able to see his mother and sister again.

Unknown to them, they were being watched. From a distance, a lone Pokemon observed them intently, Cesare in particular. A soft glow emanated from the flames atop their head, but it wasn’t enough to catch the two Gothitelle’s attention.

Release Pt 9 (final)
[ previous / next ]
Elizabeth had instinctively flinched a little at Harry's first response, and she averted her apologetic gaze. "I... I'm sorry, Harry, I just. I didn't think he would do that..." Though, at the statement that followed it, the one about 'having a mouth full of knives', she frowned a little. "...What do you mean by that, exactly?"
"He-" Madeleine started, then sighed as she ran a hand through her bangs. "You really don't wanna know. You have no idea how lucky you are to not have been there to even see it. Remembering it alone gives me chills."
"Put simply," Perseus waved a hand. "He opened his Dusknoir jaw, and there were countless rows of sharp teeth. End of story. Overall, I advise you stay away from him. He's deadly, and I bet he won't hesitate to kill even you."
Elizabeth let this sink in. Even if she never saw it for herself, it sure sounded terrifying. It was a side to Eudai she never knew, and it kind of scared her. But she was grateful for her friends being able to escape and inform her of it, nonetheless.
The petite Gothitelle shook her head at Cesare's question and released a sigh. "I'm afraid that's it. It's all I know about him, but even then, I'm just glad you guys made it out of there. And I appreciate you guys coming for me. It really means a lot."
Madeleine offered a half-hearted, friendly smile, but it faded as soon as it came. Her blue gaze flitted to Perseus, then to Cesare and Harry. "Do you two want us to help you get home? If you're heading out?" "No need," Harry got up and gave Madeleine a wave of his hand. "But it's very kind of you! When it's just the two of us, I can get us outta here nice and easy like. Speaking of which, I suppose we ought to go." The cloak that he had forgotten on their trek to retrieve Elizabeth was now draped around him again. He adjusted it.
With his gaze turning to Cesare, Harry gestured to the door. "Shall we?"
Cesare hesitated a moment. He looked at all the other Pokemon in the room. After a minute of thought though, he nodded. He'd need to check up on his mother and sister. "Now is as good a time as any, I suppose."
On their way out the door, Harry called out to the others. "Thank you for havin' us! Maybe we can hang out again on better circumstances soon!" Cesare waved to them all, and for a moment his gaze turned to Elizabeth. He gave her a thumbs up, and then they were off. Elizabeth waved to the two of them with a smile as they walked out, as did Madeleine. "Likewise!" the latter called back, "Be careful!"
Perseus slowly rose to his feet, stretching his limbs. "Well. I think it's time we left, too. You ready to go?" He asked Madeleine, who nodded and turned to Elizabeth. "Will you be coming with us?"
"Uh..." Elizabeth thought for a moment, then smiled once more as she replied. "I'll probably stay here a little while longer. I'd like to talk to Nysa again, if she'll let me." She looked towards the aforementioned Umbretelle, who gave her a nod and returned her smile.
She continued. "But I'll be okay, don't let that stop you from going home. You guys look really tired, I wouldn't want to hold you back."
"Well," Perseus sighed, putting on the winter coat he had previously shed and heading towards the door. "Be safe on your way home, then. It was good talking with you, Elizabeth."
"Same to you," Elizabeth replied. After she and Madeleine departed from a brief hug, she watched the two head out and waved one last time, till the door was shut. From there, she turned around as Nysa stood up from her workspace.
"Now then, Elizabeth. What was it you wanted to speak with me about?"
There was a pause, before the young Gothitelle spoke again.
"... I'd... like your advice on where to go from here. With Eudai and his sisters."

Release Pt 8
Previous/Next
“Of course, thank you.” Elizabeth nodded in agreement, then went back to steadying herself on her own two feet. It would take a couple minutes for her to get used to standing again, and a bit more for her to start walking. Had a month really made her forget what it was like to walk?
She was thankful for her quick recovery, though. The Gothitelle could walk normally once she drew nearer to the door. From there, she would join Cesare outside and make her way downstairs.
Below, Nysa’s ears perked at the sound of their footsteps, and she glanced over from her work to see them finally arrive. Madeleine rose from her seat upon noticing them, and was the first to speak. “Are you two alright?”

Release Pt 7
[ previous / next ]
A warm smile crept over Elizabeth’s face upon hearing this. Relief even seemed to soften her features all the more. She chuckled softly at his offhand comment while resting her free hand over his, her touch reassuring. “It’s alright, I’m... not very eloquent with it either.” Elizabeth admitted.
Honestly, she felt as if her heart was going to leap out of her chest. This was so unexpected... in a pleasant way, of course. Even so, she too held steady as she gazed into Cesare’s eyes.
At his inquiry, she paused, looking thoughtful. She initially wasn’t quite sure how to respond to it, but moments later, she seemed to have found her answer.
“...We keep reaching for the stars. Together.”
Elizabeth slowly inched closer to Cesare after she spoke, falling silent. Raising a tentative hand, she gently coiled her fingers into the hair at the nape of his neck. And, after another quiet pause, she drew his lips to hers.
Reaching for the stars together? Cesare repeated the phrase in his head. It seemed rather poetic, but it was interesting. Plus, stars fit, considering their species.
Elizabeth's next action did not catch Cesare off guard as much. Indeed, given how they felt about one another, it would have happened eventually. Still, he felt a rush of excitement. This was definitely not how he expected to be spending his hours after just waking up, but he certainty didn't mind either. He closed his eyes, allowing her to press her lips to him.
Tumblr media
His own lips softened not long after contact. Hesitantly, he moved one hand to the side of her face. He hoped she would not mind. In truth, he felt like he was shivering a little, from a bit of an emotional overload. They were good emotions though.
He had to break contact with Elizabeth so he could speak, though. "I ought to check on the others soon. Have you seen them yet? Sorry for the sudden halt."
His hand was still on her face. He wanted to kiss her more, but he also worried about going overboard -- they'd just "gotten together", and they’d just woken up, so that would be far too much. There was no need for rushing. And, most importantly, he needed to know how the others were doing.
Cesare wasn’t alone on those feelings he experienced. Small shivers crawled under Elizabeth’s skin as his fingers grazed her cheek, and a soft, muffled sound was drawn out. It was very brief, however.
When their lips parted, the Gothitelle focused on on the other’s words. She smiled rather sheepishly at the mention of their friends downstairs, realizing that she had yet to see them.
“Not yet, no.” came her reply, a soft chuckle in her voice. “I guess I ought to go down there too, and see how they’re doing.”
Her fingers gradually slipped from Cesare’s hair, albeit with some reluctance. She leaned into his hand for just a moment, then lifted her face away. In truth, she longed for a little more of his touch, not wanting to part from him. She very much wanted to kiss him more. But her thoughts prodded her from the back of her mind, reminding her: one step at a time.
Plus, everybody was waiting downstairs. Couldn’t keep them waiting for too long, right? Giving Cesare’s other hand a gentle squeeze, Elizabeth smiled once more and carefully eased herself out of bed. She was quickly reminded of how long it had been since she had last walked on her own, when her legs suddenly started to cave in from under her. Startled hands flew out, and she stumbled forward, latching onto the wall nearby. “Hhhhh....” Elizabeth inhaled through her teeth, then flashed an embarrassed smile at Cesare. “I’ll follow you. Just... give me a moment.”
Cesare's eyes widened as Elizabeth fell, and he lurched forward, holding out an arm somewhat. However, upon her telling him to give her a moment, he nodded, and backed away. "I'll wait outside," he said, "That way they can address us at once. Might be easier for them."

Release Pt 6
Previous/Next
Cesare leaned forward as Elizabeth seemed to quiet down, so he could hear her better.
And although they were a bit hard to make out, Cesare made out those last words. And they hit him like a rock.
He didn’t know what to say. He was truly surprised; he didn’t think she felt that way about him.
But … that begged the question. How did he feel about her?

Release Pt 5
[ previous / next ]
That was a relief. So everything worked out in the end ... probably.
"Thank you again," Cesare said, making his way down to the hall to greet his friend.
Upon reaching the door, Cesare grabbed the knob and opened it quietly, as to not be too sudden. He was excited, though. The fact that his black out might have actually been worth something was nice to hear, and he wanted to see Elizabeth again.
"Elizabeth?" he called out, peering his head through the door. "It's me, Cesare. Glad to hear you're doing alright."
Spotting her, he took a few steps into the room. "So how has all this been treating you?" he asked. "I'm assuming a lot went down while I was ... um, you know. Nysa didn't mention the others, but I hope they're doing alright. I mean, I heard a voice that sounded like Harry downstairs -- but, so, you're free now? How are you feeling?"
He jumbled the questions together, and in hindsight, he realized, he probably sounded like a fool, but he was still a bit woozy and didn't have all the details ironed out yet.
Elizabeth lifted her head when the door opened, and she sat up slowly. Upon seeing Cesare, she froze.
She stared at him.
Her mouth opened to speak, then closed. She almost looked as if she would cry a little. There were so many things she wanted to say. But what to say first?
He was asking questions, there was a start. She ought to answer them before saying anything else.
“I’m alright,” she spoke quietly, “and yeah, it’s... it’s just me now. Nysa told me everyone else was fine downstairs. I just hope she’s right...” She winced at Cesare, pausing for a moment. “But... what about you? Are you alright? I...” she hesitated. Only to hide her face as her voice grew emotional. “I thought you might’ve died... I saw what happened to you, and I’m so sorry.”
Cesare noticed Elizabeth's change in expression. Was she sure she was fine? Given what they'd all just dealt with, though, he figured it was only natural. Emotionally, he wasn't in the best of places either. But mostly he was confused.
"I'm glad to hear," Cesare said. He hesitated, pursing his lips. "I was pretty sure he was going to kill you."
Cesare continued, "But I'm also pretty sure I'm alright. My head hurts a bit, but I'm not sure if that's from being knocked out or falling onto the floor." his face flushed slightly; he felt a bit embarrassed remembering how he fell face first almost as soon as he woke up.
When he heard the last words she said though, as well as her change in tone, his shoulders drooped. "Oh ..." he faltered again for a moment. "I'm sorry. It was pretty rash of me, wasn't it? To just go at him like that. Maybe I shouldn't have, but I was just..." he struggled to put exactly what he was thinking into words. "I was really worried. I didn't want anything bad to happen, but I guess in doing so I kinda started a fight?"
He folded his arms and sighed. "I don't know if I forgive him, though."
Elizabeth shook her head at that first statement about Eudai.
“No... he had no intention of doing that. He was... actually going to let me go. But things started happening, and he suddenly had to go to White Forest, I...” she moved her hands from her face, and sighed, taking a steady breath. She looked back up at him with a softened gaze moments after. “I’m just glad you’re okay.”
She gave him an understanding look when he explained his rationale for lashing out at Eudai. Though she did nod a little at the fact that what he did was a rash decision. Sure, it was reckless and all, but... he really cared. And that hit home for her.
Speaking of which, there was something else the Gothitelle had been waiting to say. She nearly forgot about it, but now that it crossed her mind, she ought to say it now before she lost the courage to say it later.
“Cesare,” Elizabeth started. ”There’s... something I’ve been wanting to tell you.”
Now came the hard part. She wasn’t the best at saying such things. But, there was no turning back now.
“I never quite realized my feelings back then, but...” She paused for a second, struggling to find her words. “While things did get hairy at the end of it... The fact that you traveled so far just to find me, it speaks volumes to me. You wanted me to be safe, and I truly appreciated that.”
She drew a breath. Oh, this was hard.
But she had to say it. “And, to be honest, you mean so much to me.” She was looking directly at him now, her soft gaze unwavering. “Cesare...” Her voice faltered, dropping to just a murmur. But even then, the words tumbled out.
“I love you.”

Release Pt 4
Previous/Next
“Of course.” A small smile crept over Elizabeth’s face, one much more genuine and relaxed. It was quiet for a moment, but then she spoke up again when Haos made his way back towards the door. “…And thank you. I hope you can find some rest yourself sometime soon.”
Voices were the first thing Cesare heard. But they were distorted, barely intelligible. He didn’t really know who was talking, but some of them sounded familiar, even if he had no idea what they were saying.
He opened his eyes – not fully, just a sliver – and gazed at the ceiling. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a window, of which he was practically touching. Was he sitting on a window sill? Wasn’t he in the snow? Cesare, having just come to, had a bit of trouble processing it all.
Was he dead? Was this some kind of waiting room into Heaven?
Wait, no, that was a stupid thought. It couldn’t be, it didn’t look particularly heavenly. Which meant he was alive. The last thing he remembered …

Release Pt 3
Previous/Next
Haos flashed a wide smile, if but for a moment before reverting to his more subdued state. “Excellent, I won’t pry for long.” The Gothitelle stated as he followed Nysa upstairs into the room where Elizabeth resided. Gesturing at Nysa that privacy was needed, the Gothitelle coughed quietly into his hand before slowly approaching the younger woman.
“Hello, Elizabeth, my name is Haos. I know we never met, but your friends have told me a bit about you and your ordeal? You don’t mind answering a few questions, do you? I promise it won’t be long.” The psychic stated plainly, making himself as friendly and comforting as possible.
After Nysa slipped out of the room and closed the door as quietly as possible, she sat next to Cesare on the window bench in the hall to watch over him. Of course, she never even thought of trying to listen in on Haos’ conversation with Elizabeth. She was content with leaving them with their privacy and attending to where she was needed. When Haos came in, Elizabeth was still in bed, leaning into the pillows behind her. She wore a soft white nightgown, clearly borrowed from Nysa. Her figure was somewhat illuminated by the warm candlelight beside her, more so when she lifted her head to look at Haos.
The Gothitelle offered a subtle, polite smile when the other introduced himself, and it seemed to fade a little at the mention of her situation with Eudai. Even though it was not something she preferred to speak about, she was willing to cooperate and fill him in. “Of course,” came her reply. “…What would you like to know?”

Release Pt 2
[ previous / next ]
"Curious." Haos muttered to himself, listening explicitly to every painstaking detail Harry had laid before him. "I must confess, foolish as it was for Cesare to take challenge Eudai, he's certainly brave... Or is it stupid? Always seem to get the two confused sometimes." The Gothitelle mused to himself, pausing for a second as Hedrald's loud snoring permeated the walls. Thankfully, such things were few and far inbetween.
"However, this does strengthen my theory that Eudai had been seeking out White Forest on account of his sisters... Would it be alright if I check on the one called Elizabeth? I know she has gone through a great deal, but there are a few things I wish to know, details only she can provide. If not, I understand and will simply return another time, granted that she's willing." Haos inquired with soft eyes.
"Stupidity," Harry confirmed Haos’s first question, not even hesitating to throw Cesare under the bus. Under other circumstances he might have praised him, but they nearly died thanks to his rash actions. But ... now Harry was thinking ... at the same time, would Elizabeth had been alive otherwise? But then he shrugged that off. He raised an amused eyebrow at Herald's snoring though.
Harry looked to the other two when Haos asked about Elizabeth. "You all know her better 'n me. I don't see why not, but whaddabout you two?"
“Neither do I,” Madeleine replied, rubbing her temples to help soothe her lingering headache. “I’m sure she’d be willing to talk about it once she’s awake and all.”
Perseus offered a low grunt in agreement to this, not uttering a word. Moments later, he lifted his head and gazed forward, towards the staircase.
A door creaked open from upstairs, then there was a soft click. Quiet footsteps followed, until Nysa appeared once more. Tired eyes watched her as she approached.
“She’s awake now.” The Umbretelle said, “I have informed her of everything she needed to know, so she could relax. She told me she wanted to see Cesare, but... he has yet to wake up.” Turning to Haos, she gestured to the stairs behind her with a subtle smile. “If you’d like to speak to her, she’s right this way.”

And with that, Nysa and the others followed him out of White Forest, making a successful escape and saving themselves from further injury.
When teleportation was accessible again, Nysa happily assisted in moving everyone to her tree house. From there, she took Elizabeth off of Perseus’s hands and moved her upstairs to Nysa’s own bedroom. When she came back down shortly after, Madeleine greeted her with a question.
“Is she alright?”
