Three years ago my friend and I were discussing why the whole “eldritch abominations all look at humans like humans look at insects cuz they’re so cruel and unrelenting nyeh” trope was really stupid and after it crossed my mind again I’ve somehow found even MORE reasons to find this trope too simplistic, considering:
People (like me) are irrationally terrified of cockroaches
A lot of designation/fear of certain insects as “pest creatures” (ants) is deliberately drummed up in advertising (so a lot of our aversion to ‘pests’ is as much a socially influenced sentiment as it is our own need to not be inconvenienced)
Beetles are beloved, especially by collectors
So are dragonflies, and other insects I’m probably missing
Bees, one of the most socially advanced insect species out there, are highly valued and protected for obvious reasons, and the bees themselves (farmed anyway) often work symbiotically with human intervention
That mantis sure can do kung fu
You have felt guilty about smashing an ant before. Don’t lie to me, you have at least once in your lifetime.
If we have such varied emotional reactions to insects, from terror to joy and admiration to guilt, I don’t see why a creature larger than the planet or universe should be different. Not everyone feels like stepping on an anthill, Jared.

My favorite part of watching Hamilton for the first time was it was also a Japanese acquaintance's first watch and every time King George III showed up on screen she kept excitedly whispering "出た出た出た出た," and at the end declared he was her favorite character in the entire show
#hamilton#first watch#memes#I will fully admit Hamilton wasn't my thing#But I do think the music is rightly praiseworthy#And ofc George was a riot and his songs were hilarious

I couldn’t get a copy of the new Touhou demo…
My friend helped queue up for the both of us but not only did it sell out quickly, the person in front of her had the very last copy and got to shake ZUN’s hand, and then he immediately left before my friend could even say a word
Rotten luck huh

The unofficial translation of Gensou Narratograph is now available to download!
I know no one ever actually looks at tumblr blogs, but I've made a basic page to hopefully collect information and links in the future.
An unofficial tabletop RPG published by Kadokawa. While the game as a whole is by no means "canon", it includes a full transcript of a game session with ZUN as one of the players, plus new character quotes and location descriptions written by ZUN, so it's worth checking out just for that alone.
Narratograph is largely boardgame-based, played with a selection of 30 characters gathering clues on a map of Gensokyo to progress through objectives and resolve the incident/kerfuffle of the week. However, it is still an RPG, with every scene being roleplayed and the incident also having a proper story to it. Narratively the game leans towards the light and feel-good end of Touhou fanworks, though I suppose it's up to you what you do with it. The book includes two prewritten adventures as examples, one of which I've run for a group to test it out.
It has pretty digestible mechanics, and a very unique danmaku combat system. To help with the number of sheets, figurines, tokens etc. needed, I've made public the Tabletop Simulator mod that I use to run the game myself, together with character figurines. You can use the assets included with the game to try and make it work in some other virtual tabletop of your choice. Or of course, you can also just print everything and play it live, if you can get a group together.
The rules have some quirks, and I'll try to figure out the best way to post my own notes and suggested houserules. As things stand, though, despite having nothing to do with the game officially, after putting a lot of work into it, I'm also curious to hear anyone's thoughts or experiences running it!

Look, I know I only periodically return to the Hermitcraft/Life Series fandom every once in a while (usually when there's a new season)
And yes I adore angsty content about Watcher Grian as much as any other (recently I've been binging the works of docofthedark/doctortrekkie who has made some AMAZING AU writings of the Life Series and Hermitcraft season 8), I love seeing people write and draw fanart of Grian suffering through not being human anymore and having to either helplessly Watch or Fight against the eldritch race he was turned into that's also enslaving his friends to death games and suffering etc.
But all the more, that makes me really really want to see someone animate the infamous scene from Devil May Cry 4, with Grian in Dante's role, doing a Shakespeare speech to the Watchers about how humanity rules, actually
(2:12 onwards is very important)

Sermon today in church reminded me the Veggietales’ Jonah movie still slaps
A kids movie had the guts to turn to its main character with the line “Has it ever occurred to you that God loves everybody, not just you?”
Idk, feels extremely relevant in this day and age. Just a vibe.
#rant#Christianity#veggietales#veggietales jonah#hi sorry I haven’t posted#studies and iRL duties kicked me in the face#I wanted any post I put here to be on a positive note at least

funniest part about the OnK ending i think is when aqua says in 155 that "if hikaru is the one behind everything, a lot of things make no sense" and then akasaka turns around exactly 10 chapters later to tell us in no uncertain terms that not only was kamiki behind everything but he literally had a serial killer cult he had masterminded together to make sure he was The Most behind everything
like. damn. you were right, aqua. that doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
