So, in theory, if Steven wanted to hear after his powers were activated, he could learn to shapeshift his physical form to have ears, something that I have to imagine he would find very hard. But the neural structure is there is what I meant, if he got really good at shapeshifting, and had any amount of drive to do so, he could hear.

Actually, I've just recently started getting baking lessons from Lars - he is really good!! I wish I could be as talented as him, but for now I just have to keep practicing! I'm determined to perfect these cookies!!

I don’t really know where mom could’ve found Polar, but, me and the gems found him in a really cold place filled with snow! Pearl called it a tundra, we were really close to the north pole :D

Pearl didn’t like Polar too much, she didn’t really tell me why either. She seemed a bit uncomfortable when I asked as well, but she said that he was very big and bound to break something in the house.

I admit he is big, very fluffy too, but a pink Polar bear isn’t exactly normal is it? What if someone wanted to hurt him for his fur :’(

He is very calm too, so I can actually dress him up a little, look!

I don’t think he minds, he’s so cute right?

Why the boy is deaf-

So finally, an explanation on why Steven is deaf: In your normal human ear, you have all the complicated parts and what not, whereas gems don't have ears, it's all hard light. So what happens when you try and shove those together? You get Steven. He has normal outside appearance when it comes to his ears, but on the inside of his ears, there is nothing but hard light. Because of this, he can not have surgery or hearing aids as those would require doctors to magically structure whole new ears for him.

So yes, he was born deaf. I hope this explains it well enough.

Quick Explanation:

I wasn't very clear with this in the last ask, but this au doesn't have Lion. Instead, we have Polar, a pink polar bear.

His magical portal is still around his neck, but just fur rather than a mane. Why did we replace Lion? Well, we just like polar bears. We don't need a proper reason, it's an au, and Polar is babey.

Only sometimes actually, and it's only where they go to get something in some gem place, never any fighting going on.

Pearl says it's too dangerous for me. She doesn't tell me why, but I'm sure it's because of my hearing :T

I mean, I understand but- I have eyes! I can see! I'm quick too, and they'll be there if anything gets too bad right?

I'm a Crystal Gem too, and (don't tell the gems or they might get angry, but) I have learned how to summon my weapon, and it's a shield!

I've trained whenever they're off on missions, and I'm ready! I really hope they'll listen to me when they come back..
