“Its been a while,” he warned. Aware that this was not something he usually did, with anyone. Not since...
Still, she smelled rather nice and he shuffled forward in the chair. His hand slipped to her shoulder, her skin was soft, delicate under the pads of his fingers.
The visit was late at night, unscheduled and undiscussed. She knew well enough that he was awake, courtesy on the messaging system. So there she was, dressed in a long, buttoned dress with nothing underneath and a data slate in hand, to keep appearances. The guards knew her and without any interrogation went to ask if he is to admit her. She hoped he will, otherwise it would be pretty awkward, especially after thier little banter.
Corvus was not asleep. he had been relaxing in his large chair, reading through some of his captain’s reports when there was a tap on his door. One of his sons announced his assistant was here and he frowned. It was a late hour for her to be up. He gestured for her to enter, concerned that there might be something wrong. “Has something happened?” he asked when she entered. He was dressed in loose fatigues and a black robe covered his shoulders, concern was etched on his face.

He leaned forward, black hair brushing over his shoulders as he regarded her for a moment. Her confidence oozed from her in waves, though he was not too worried about that, he knew what he was doing well enough.
“Eventually,” he said with a small nod.
Reaching out with his huge hand, he ran his hand over her hair, gentle and unintrusive for now.

What was she... oh. OH! Now he recalled. They’d spoken of this previously and he wasn’t sure how serious she was being. He certainly had not expected her act as quickly as that! He would be lying if he thought she looked terrible though. His black eyes had widened but a smile had grown on his face.
“I remember them well,” he said, gesturing for her to come over, “Though I was not sure how serious they were.”

“I must say I am relieved about that,” he said with a small sigh. “I need a shower, something to eat and some quiet time to think through what they have told me,” he added as he ran a hand through his fine, black hair. “If you will excuse me, both of you, I shall attend to that now.”
He got to his feet then and stretched up, glad for the end of the meetings for now.
💋 for a random kiss. - accidental kiss
Corax felt like the biggest idiot that had ever lived. He put it down to not knowing that much about mortals. She had leaned in to tell him something, of that he was sure, and he had mis-read the intention and had kissed her instead. He had pulled away the moment he had done so, a bright flush on his white cheeks. He stammered an apology and pressed his lips together, unsure what to do now.

The conversation with the Mechanicum was interesting, though perhaps not as productive as he would have liked. Their request was more for assistance with a matter than anything else, which he reluctantly agreed to.
“Atina,” he said, turning to the remembrancer who was rapidly becoming his assistant, “Inform the bridge and crew that the Mechanicum will be providing them with co-ordinates for travel.” He knew he could rely on them for that much at least.
They shuffled out after that, leaving the three of them alone again. It had been two hours of discussions, he wondered what was next...

He gave her a firm nod, the smile slipping as he knew he had to attend a meeting, “I shall see you then.”
✱, reveal an inconfessable/dirty thought they’ve had about you
He looked her in the eyes, his black ones searching hers. A small smirk touched the corner of his mouth before he spoke, “I wonder how flexible you are, how long you would last and how much of me you could take.”

“There is no rest for the wicked,” he said with a shake of his head. Scheduling such an act seemed odd in his mind, it left him cool. “Come to my quarters later on, we can see what happens then,” he said, relenting as much as he could. He knew he was busy and that was never going to change.

“Well, there would be an easy way to find out, though I dare say that it would not be quick,” he said. Her matter of fact response brought the smile to his lips fully, reaching his eyes and softening his taciturn face.

The words ‘forced retirement’ jarred a little, though they did bring a gentle smile to Corax’s face. He let out a soft sigh before he spoke. “A simple rest day, you’re not being punished for this,” he said, “I need you to be well and if this helps, then so be it.” He did not want Khakir to think that he had done something wrong by confiding him, it was far from that. “And I will ensure you know what is going on. The work will not progress so far in a day that you’ll feel completely out of touch,” he added. A day was not a huge about of time while they were travelling however and he knew that Khakir would cope well enough. “If anything large changes however, I will let you know.” That was a promise. He had not lied when he had said that he needed Khakir for the coming compliance.
He then listened to the information that had been sent and shook his head. “It is a good job we are far out,” he said. “Diplomacy is a tricky line to walk, they had said that they will treat with us and discuss a united future, however they are now demanding to speak with our leader and him alone. I do not think he will heed that call,” he said. He then switched the subject and gave Khakir a tight lipped smile, “Don’t you think on that for today, you now need to go and rest, or try to,” he said. Unloading those concerns on to Khakir was not going to help his mind settle in any way at all.
Khakir looked rather comfortable where he was and he shrugged. “You could even stay here if you so wish, I’ll ensure the room is marked as occupied and no one will come to disturb you,” he said. If he was happy here, there was no need to move needlessly. There was nothing wrong with him catching a snooze here, the chairs were good. Corvus however, he had far too much to do so sit idly. He got to his feet and stretched his arms upwards. “I need to go and review the information we have on the residents of the planet, check in with me in twenty four hours,” he said. That was an order.

Her words were well met and he nodded. He had no idea how you went about cleansing the soul or getting rid of that negative energy other than giving it time. Time was something they were short of however, they had to get going and see how many of the other jackals they could round up and find. Maybe the journey to that section of space would prove to be enough. Somehow, he doubted it.
“Snacks I think is something that we can do,” he said, the warmth never leaving his voice. At least she seemed to like the space he had for her.
The rumble of the engines deep below them changed. They were beginning to cycle up. In half an hour, they would be ready to move to the jump point. It would not be long before they were underway.
The vox chimed, informing everyone what the noises had already told them. Corvus looked at Evren and smiled once again, “It’s going to be a while before we reach the section we need to search,” he said, “Is there anything you wish to do while we travel? It seems a good time to divide the companies into groups and get them working together.”
If they were bunking together, it would be a good time to set them in their teams and have them train together too.
"Mine!"
“Sister?” he frowned. “You would claim me as property?”

“Yes, I will show you some of the nicer places if we cna make it,” he said. It was only fitting, seeing how it was her suggestion in the first place.
He sipped some more of the tea, his thoughts drifting to the huge list of tasks he had yet to complete this day. He took a deep breath and was about to ask for a data-slate when there was a light tap at the door. It then opened and another astartes stood to rigid attention in greeting. “The deligates from the mechanicum are here, Lord.” he announced.
“Sent them in,” he nodded.
