Oh.
Well shit.
That's... a little embarassing for me.
My apologies, Mx., I shoulda remembered that not everyone thinks destruction is beauty.
Bad habit of speakin' before I think much.
- [♧]
Haha. Quite alright, darling. I’m not upset that you like to see things get destroyed. I know plenty of people who destroy for the sake of destruction.
Also, no “Mx” nonsense. The name Hades is a formality in and of itself. Do use that instead. ;)

I, too, find a similar comfort in fire.
There's a beauty to it that is hard to find in any other thing. I'm particularly drawn to its effect on the thing that feeds the flame, the thing that is on fire. Yes, the flame itself is beautiful, its light, its warmth, but it's the destruction that pulls me in, personally. It's not the same sort of destruction as, say, an explosion. It's gentler. Yet, not so gentle as, for example, simple erosion. It just burns.
- [♧]
P.S., Thank you for giving my sister Spade that lead on where to learn about the functions of the Acheron. They've been having great fun with the experiments that resulted from it, much to Diamond's dismay.
Not to sound rude, love, but destruction is the worst possible part of a fire. The less there is to burn, the less of a flame there is to savour. Watching Malone burn was…
Um.
I’d rather keep that to myself, actually. Needless to say, seeing that much fire was… Exhilarating. I may have let myself burn in it for just a moment before Jonny decided he couldn’t stand the heat and dragged my half-alive body back onto Aurora. Fun times, really.

Um. I mean, it also just… Gave me something to do, I guess. I got bored in those orphanages, alright? I had to entertain myself somehow…
Why did you become an arsonist?
What else is a nine year old with no supervision supposed to do after finding out they can light a spider on fire with the suns’ light and a magnifying glass? You expect me to not fall madly in love with the sight and warmth of a flame? After knowing how fucking cold the nights are on a desert planet?
You’d start a fire too if you knew the love it had for you and you alone. You’d watch it eat away so perfectly at the wood of a house you hated. You’d stare into the flames on a match until you burned your fingertips.
The fire was my only comfort, darling. The sight of it made me feel alive. I learned what love was through those first flames.
I became an arsonist because I love fire, and the fire loves me. More than any heart ever could.

Are you doing alright Ashes. I haven't seen you set anything on fire in weeks
To be frank, I've been doing nothing but sleeping and talking to my dog in the last few weeks. I've got no motivation to leave my room. My pain's been more of a bitch than ever. The only reason I've been getting up to eat and drink water is because Cerberus is making me.
But, I mean, other than that I'm great.

I'm just here to convey a question for Heart, since Diamond's embarrassed 'n' Spade ran off. Heart doesn't wanna say it themself, I can assume it's cause she figures y'all may not be big fans o' vampires, with uh... the Doc 'n' all. Even though Heart insists they ain't a vampire, we all know they are, they're no good at hidin'.
I get ahead of myself, my apologies, Mx O'Reilly.
The question I mean to ask is, y'all Mechanisms are the type of immortal where ya die and regenerate (or otherwise come back), yeah? If so, what's it like? Is it just like fallin asleep?
Sorry if that's a bit dark, 's just the curiosities Heart tends to have.
- [♧]
(since you mentioned being curious about the characters unfolding, @ask-the-ace-siblings )
My, you all are the talkative types, aren’t you? I like it.
I would put this lightly, but I don’t feel like it, so I’ll say it out right: We die. While, yes, dying has become nothing but an inconvenience to us all now, we still die. It’s very painful, or slow, or sudden, or scary, or very hot, or freeze cold, etc etc… It’s far from just falling asleep. You have to die before you come back.
Of course, the regeneration process differs in length depending on how you died and… how much of you is left. Haha.
Objectively speaking though, it takes a few minutes to properly start working again. The Doc was kind enough to let our brains heal the fastest.
It does feel… odd, though. It’s a very strange feeling, having your bones and muscles and skin reappear out of thin air. I couldn’t really describe the exact feeling of it. Closest I can get is like if you shoved a ton of cotton balls into your bullet wound and all the sudden the cotton balls are the bullet wound. The feeling fades a few minutes after I’m done regenerating, though. Fascinating stuff, really. No idea if it’s different for the rest of the crew, though.

Ah, well that explains why Spade ran off in such a hurry, likely to find those names you gave her. Thanks for that, really, they've been bored lately.
Also- She was not supposed to tell you that- Heh- Um-
That's a bit embarassing.
Anyway, I have a question of my own. What is your favorite card or dice game? My favorite dice game is Knucklebones (I refer to the version seen in the game Cult of the Lamb). It's a delightful mix of skill and luck, so even a new player could win against a master if the dice will it.
- [◇]
(also no worries, these are characters too :])
Oh, no need to be embarrassed, darling. I love compliments. Feel free to praise me more if you want to. Haha.
As for your question… Hm. I was raised around people who loved just about any card game they could find or come up with, and I guess that rubbed off on me at some point. Though, New Texas Hold ‘Em is pretty good. That one from Earth, though… Blackjack I think? That’s fun too. Tim’s given me a run for my money a few times. Literally.
Knucklebones sounds fun, though. I might look into that later… :)
