Hello, excuse me, culd you make a drawing of Runaan and Ethari's daughter, let's see what she would look like and what her name or story would be? Please
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have two options for you lol! She reminds me of Andromeda but I didn’t use any references.
I’m not too sure of a name, but I thought she looks like a Sapphira? It’s an ethereal name and it means blue stone, symbolizes beauty, loyalty, and truth.
I think she’d be a perfect mix between Ethari and Runaan. Honey brown eyes with turquoise specks in them. She has Runaan’s lush, billowy hair, and a bit of Ethari’s thicker build. And his jawline.
Ethari dotes on her constantly and loves making her jewelry. And she thinks he is the best at giving warm hugs (Runaan can confirm). He and Runaan take turns braiding her hair.
Runaan of course makes sure she can fight and protect herself. She’s a sweetheart and may look like a princess, but don’t let that fool you.
I feel like Rayla would take her on all sorts of adventures all throughout Xadia, and Sapphira insists on dragon-riding everywhere they go!
Anyway, how did I do? What do you think her name/story could be?

To give some context, I have this headcanon that in s7, Aaravos managed to bring Leola back to life, and at that same moment the cosmic council got off their asses and came down to Xadia to take Aaravos back home.
Aaravos doesn’t want to leave his daughter all alone so he entrusts her into the care of the heroes (who were initially there to fight him), because he knows however much they’re against him, they’d never hurt his child. And it’s not like he has other options since he’s being taken away. When the heroes accept her, there’s this… unspoken understanding between them and Aaravos that she’d be protected, loved, and nurtured.
Or something like that lol let me have this 🫠 I just want more Leola

This is so clearly the fault of the writers and not the character. First off, let me admit that I do like Ethari, therefore I’m biased. But I do think I have a point.
I 100% understand the misgivings some fans have toward him and his actions. And I’m in no way excusing him for any of it.
But the way the writers completely skated over so many aspects of the ghosting storyline (and straight up ignored plenty others), I can’t fathom it being just “Ethari’s a bad person/father” or “he’s fake” and that’s it.
For example, whatever happened to Lain and Tiadrin? Rayla just… never mentions her own parents and the fact that they didn’t abandon their duty as was once believed? They were ghosted too. But it’s not brought up in season 7 whatsoever. And if I were Rayla, advocating for my parents’ honor would be one of the first things I did upon my return and acceptance back into the community.
Like I’m sure it went over so many people’s heads that Ethari and Rayla were STILL in contact with each other after she was ghosted. This is shown in season 5. So, It’s entirely possible, in true TDP fashion, that they kept the important stuff off screen—such as Ethari addressing and apologizing for his actions. Based off what we see of him in the Bloodmoon Huntress, he doesn’t strike me as a disingenuous person. So, just personally, I find it hard to believe that he’d hide what he did from Runaan. I just file that under the yet another vital conversation had off screen’ category.
Anyway, all the missing details did leave the whole reunion and unghosting plot line (aaand all of s7) feeling hollow for me and I think it’s more of a writing issue than a character issue at this point.
Been trying to find a way to explain this without pissing everyone off but I literally was enraged by Ethari this last season. I already had my misgivings about his character (and this isn’t to say he’s a bad character!) what with basically leaving Rayla to fend for herself but then upon hearing Rayla’s classic low self-worth diatribe he incredulously cuts her off like shes not like this partially because of his own actions.
I know logically Ethari’s thoughts were clouded by his grief but theres something kind of really off-putting about him trying to brush off Rayla’s concerns seconds after he’s reunited with Runaan. “Not another word Rayla etc etc”
If I wanted to look too deep into it maybe I could rationalize it and say he was nervous about Runaan realizing he had basically turned his back on Rayla but it honestly made him look fake and disingenuous. Its only further compounded by Rayla side-eyeing him, like shes clearly bitter about it still despite her acting like everything’s hunky dory, but maybe I’m just projecting a bit too hard about all of this….Thoughts???

They probably went around healing butterflies and Aaravos definitely made it a teaching moment for her. Oh gosh now I have to draw that 🥹
We know Aaravos is patient. He says it himself, in the short stories at least, but I love seeing it on screen. Because, man, he’s SUCH a dad in hindsight.
How many times does Viren have near meltdowns and tantrums (like when he freaks out in the pearl), but Aaravos just keeps calm and composed like it’s nothing. He’s been there and done that with Leola. He even has that slight “are you done?” look on his face too. When someone asks a question that, to him, is definitely stupid, he doesn’t shame them for asking. I’ve also noticed how sometimes he simply doesn’t address certain questions/statements and will steer the subject, almost like he’s redirecting a child.
Even with Terry and the bird, he asks Terry how he can tell it’s a mother bird, and then he waits for Terry to figure it out. He goes even further to praise Terry for getting it right. It immediately reminded me of a parent testing their child’s knowledge. Aaravos probably doesn’t even realize he’s doing that.
He has the learned patience of a father, and it is so clear when you rewatch his scenes. I love that about his character. I wonder if he had far less patience before Leola was born. Would love to see that!

Exactly! I wanted to mention this exact scene with Claudia as well but felt like I was talking too much haha. His teaching moments are the best. The episode before when he tells her about all the ingredients for the spell is one of my favorites (and not just because of that deep voice 😩)
