➳ “You haven’t done a great job of cleaning up the streets if I’m honest Jay, c’mon, look at this place. It’s a dump.” That being said Roy wasn’t the biggest fan of Gotham given how it looked like the dump compared to Starling, and he had grown up in the rougher parts of the Glades, so he knew dumps when he saw them.

“Don’t worry too much, like I said, broke his fingers in seconds. Asshole thought that he could rob me of all people”, he laughed as they walked down the alleys, not coming across anyone so far. “Jaybird..”, he hummed to himself, replying to Roy moments later. “I took the liberty of cleaning up the streets here, just like I did back in Gotham. Gotta make the most of it before Bats shows up again.”

➳ “Someone tried to pull a knife on you?” Roy frowned, getting up and taking stride to stand next to Jason, walking alongside him already, his bow and arrow (though still toys) lifting to sling over his shoulder. “I don’t know Jaybird, people here are odd, but I love teaching them a lesson or two. Not got to stretch my feathers yet...”
Pain in my Arse(nal)
Jason observed Roy, relieved to see that he actually accepted his suggestion to for patrol together. He felt bad that he didn’t spend a lot of time with his teammate, and needless to say, he was lonely. He would hate to admit that of course, the guy who spent so long angsting and refusing to belong in any team found his match in Roy and Kori. Who wasn’t there, of course, and Roy was his only hope. That and the fact that he felt that his feelings were played with every time that Bruce would appear to disappear off the face of Earth, like usual.
“Sounds like a good start. I was there the other night, broke an asshole’s fingers when he tried to pull a knife on me.”

➳ The archer turned to Roy, lifting the peak of his cap to take a better look at him. It was surprising to hear such a soft tone from Jason, though it wasn’t a complete shock. Kori had always spoken about how Jason was surprising affectionate and undoubtedly clingy - with good reason. The guy had replacement and abandonment issues that could stretch a mile long.
“Sure. What are we patrolling? You know I love the industrial sector, lots of things to climb there; great vantage points.”
Pain in my Arse(nal)
“Blessed? That’s not exactly the word I would go for-”, he started, coughing to stop himself from going into yet another rant that Roy witnessed before. “Trying to adjust yourself in the temperature? I have better ways to help with that than laying down in a cold rooftop. Trust me, I’ve been trained enough to know”, he nodded knowingly, attempting a genuine smile but being sure that he somehow failed.
“Wanna come on patrol with me tonight? Just like old times? Seems that you could use the exercise and fun, am I right?”, he continued as he sat down next to him, not really waiting for an invitation from Roy himself.
He did look good, much to his relief, glad to see that he didn’t suffer any injuries or anything bad happened to him while he was away. He was always worried about that, he barely had any friends and losing the few ones that stuck by his side wasn’t something that he wanted to go through.

➳ Roy was well known for his show-boating, his flaunting and dancing around after his training with Deathstroke. He saw no reason not to hide his skill, though internally a darker side of him lurked; the addict, the attention starved teenager that was forced to grow up too quickly. When she stood with that calm unimpressed demeanour Roy knew he had to take her a little more seriously. His eyes under his mask squinted, fixed on the woman even in the thick night mist.
“Oh sure, make me come down there.” He muttered. There was a part of him that proceeded with caution, another part was far too curious. Assassins came in all shapes and forms from his experience, but she did look rather out of place, even with that in mind.
He sauntered toward a pile of crates with a building pully tied by a nearby suspension crane. jumping on top of the crate and then shooting an arrow at the pully cord which ripped through the air and gave Roy a makeshift elevator down - the crates landing with a loud thud right before he jumped off with acrobatic ease.
“What do you want? I assume this is some sort of business call?”

She hated the industrial sector and how it reminded her of the Spine, the way it twisted through the city and phased in and out of the walls. It was unnatural. The higher you climbed, the closer you were to the smog and pollution, the evidence of humankind’s tampering—
The sudden voice made her bristle. Red craned her head back and looked at the man perched on the rooftop, making out little more than his eyes. What a fearsome sight, poised to take action. It elicited little more than a snort from her, however. Propping a heel against the wall behind her, she crossed her arms over her chest and cocked her head, asking the man in silence, 'Really?'
Hmm, probably not the best approach when looking for information. Her head rolled back into something less cocky. He had the vantage point over her. Nearly forgot about that.
"I was looking for you," she called back. "Are you gonna come down here or do we have to shout until our throats are hoarse!" Because as far as she could tell, there was no easy way up. A working elevator would be too much of a lucky find in this haphazard locale.

➳ Thick fog floated throughout the atmosphere in the sector that Roy had found himself in, and yet it felt just like home to him. Starling City was often riddled with fog to veil the mishaps that were ever so common in a city that was portrayed so well in the media. The moment that night had fallen it was as though the city would plummet into an alternate reality where the underground mafias would become the rulers, and the heroes and mercenaries such as Roy Harper would be the rebels trying to repossess the city, not in the name of justice, but to prevent more fatalities.
The industrial sector often reminded him of Gotham with it's alleyways that had a distinct stench of booze and chemical concoctions, wafts of unsanitary air often being caught on the wind. Then again, unsanitary wafts were common in Roy's previous rock career.
Perhaps he had felt more at home in comfort of alleys others would find haunting for reasons of his own, far deeper than the eye could see.
He returned to the one place that had given him work in the past, and that was just outside where the old fight club used to take place. Still, to this day, after all this time, there were splatters of blood staining the ground where the club had once stood. That didn't deter Roy in the slightest, he was used to such sights. They soothed him enough to calm his mind and thus had become the perfect arena for target practice. He used old bottles, some pulled out of chemical waste dumpsters and began shooting at them with his makeshift bow and arrows, with the occasional dagger throw.
Intentionally he had allowed word to get out that he was a mercenary, that he was looking for work and had given his location for it to be circulated throughout the underground of the city. How else was a man supposed to get work without handing out flyers?
During practice that night he had heard footsteps and turned sharply, allowing the wind to push back his hair. Even behind his mask his eyes narrowed, stepping to the edge of the building and staring down to see a woman, that clearly didn't belong there.
"This isn't the place for women in frocks." Roy yelled from the roof, staring down with his mask-eyes lit. "You lost?"

You don’t call this time of day ‘evening’ anymore. Some liked the term ‘small hours’. It was cute, even if the phrase felt untrue; given what she hoped to accomplish during this span of time, ‘small hours’ did it no justice. Cinderella was already at home, stripped of her ballgown, and Red had to wonder how anyone could run with so much fabric wrapped around their legs.
Sector two crowed and hooted with night creatures. Sleazy sorts hung around, too. She paid them no mind, for she was still playing the tried and true fairytale around in her head, thinking about how it wouldn’t apply to her situation until she bent and tore at it. Ripped it apart from the seams as it were. In her vision, Cinderella ran back for her heel and used its point to threaten anyone who threatened her first.
She paused before an old abandoned building, one that looked exactly like all the others. This was the place. This was where the instructions had led up to. Red eyed the doors briefly. Nah, too easy. There must’ve been a back entrance to take. Rounding the corner, she dipped into the forsaken alleyway where even the moon couldn’t reach.

➳ Since returning to the Hive Roy hadn't been up to much in particular asides from adapting to life without his precious arsenal at hand. Having to cope with his god forsaken toy bow and arrow was demeaning to say the least.
Instead he had taken to trying to condition his body back to the freezing cold temperatures, and what better way than to sit on the roof of his apartment complex, sunbathing - in the freezing cold.
His eyes were closed in somewhat of a meditative state as the cold air skated along his flesh. At first it was freezing, unbearably cold but the longer he spent out, the longer his body adapted to it which was exactly what he was trying to do.
Roy jumped once he felt an arm rest on his shoulder, snapping out of his meditation and staring wide eyed at Jason, curiously tilting his head at the nice words that escaped his mouth.
"Jaybird, quit yankin' my chain. I'm trying to do some serious work here... And by that I mean trying to turn my body into a weapon, not all of us would be blessed with a dip in the Lazurus pit."
Pain in my Arse(nal)
That bite was so sudden. Jason was just polishing his helmet, annoyed that there was not much to do in the city in the first place when he felt something on his finger, seeing a little bug running off and attempting to smash it when a random thought crossed his mind. He didn’t really greet Roy back in the city when he arrived. How could he not do that, he had to run and find him, say how much he missed him and how lonely it was without him there. A part of him was confused as to why he even considered doing that but another told him to hush and go for it.
Locating Roy wasn’t hard after all. “Hey, what’s up? You know I missed you, right? It got pretty quiet without you here”, he said as he casually placed his arm around the archer’s shoulder.

➳ "What, you want a proper apology for me having to go back and take care of business? Didn't realise you were so sentimental, Jaybird. And let's just say I didn't come back of my own accord..."
"Sorry that I left you behind? Is this the only apology that I’m getting? How about, hey Jason, remember when we promised that we would stick together no matter what? Anyway..how did they get you back?"
