I wish people would stop saying that May isn’t really relevant to the story line any more because Andrew/Lash is gone now, and because of that she’s going to be the fallen agent. She was a perfectly relevant character during season 1 and half of season two before we even knew Andrew existed. Her importance to the story is not defined by her relationship status. Melinda May is a strong independent woman whose worth is not based on a man.

Well my fandom family…. I did a thing.

I wrote an open letter to Marc, Wendy, all the Arrow writers, cast and crew. Essentially, it’s a thank you note. I have to say I was anticipating some anger about Laurel’s death, but the level of vitriol Marc, Wendy and the cast/crew received was shocking to me. So, I wanted to take a moment, let them know what this show means to me and thank them. I don’t know if they will read this, but my goal was to infuse a little positivity back into the public discourse. I also wanted to let you all know how much you mean to me as well.

If you wouldn’t mind taking a minute and reading the letter it would mean so much to me. I love you all!

Today a 16 year old boy was brought into the clinic by his aunt to ‘have the talk’ because his school didn’t teach sex ED and his mother wouldn’t talk to him about sex.

She spent 40 bucks so he could get tested for the first time.

I spent an hour talking to this young boy about sex. I got to have the sex talk with him. I showed him how to properly use a condom and protect himself and his partners. We talked about STDs and pregnancy prevention. We even talked about pubic grooming and ways to avoid razor burn. This poor boy has never had someone talk to him about anything related to the changes his body is going through.

And then we spent 20 minutes talking about consent and how important it is.

Growing up I never, ever had someone talk to me about consent and its importance. I even had sex ED in school!

This shit is important ya’ll.
