So I just saw the trailer for that Minecraft movie that's coming out in April(?) and I just wanted to put out my thoughts.

The first line immediately told me it was for Minecraft. "As a (small?) child, I yearned for the mines" 10/10 so cringe it's great.

I’m curious about how they'll go about it. Especially whatever scene they do about the physics of Minecraft.

In terms of my hopes for this movie:

Con: 8/10 of all video game movies are shit. With the exception of apparently the Sonic movies? Maybe it's getting better lately because the gamers who grew up with the games are the ones making the movies now??

Pro: Jack Black. He immediately improves any movie he is in. Eg, the muppet movie: Already a good movie on its own (despite "am I a man? (Or am I a muppet?)") -- suddenly add in a subplot of "we're kidnapping Mr. Jack Black and holding him hostage. Give us money pls" and now it's improved. Somehow.

I'm gonna hold my hopes at a very low bar, that way I will be either correct or be pleasantly surprised.

So we got this Lovely bit of mail today (December 10, 2024). It was addressed to my dad, some sort of ballot.

We opened it and it was from the Heritage Foundation.

If you didn't fill out the Ballot, you were urged to send it back anyway. (No reason in particular, we just want the blank ballots with your name and shit to be returned to us)

There was an enclosed letter and I find it both hilarious and concerning. And entertaining.

My mom didn't receive one, even though (a) they live at the same house and (b) she's currently the registered Republican (please note, she very much isn't one. She's just registered as one because ✨reasons✨)

Just so many details are funny. I felt the need to post the letter.

Hoooooo boy. So I normally put on a documentary while I’m working on some Crochet or carvings (crochet in this case) and I normally watch true crime stuffs or things about disasters.

So I’m watching this Netflix documentary called "into the fire" and I’m looking at the description and I’m thinking to myself, 'huh, this looks interesting' so I put it on and I’m just.

First: this girl is adopted, as a baby. She disappears as a teen, seems to be a runaway. The Cops don't really look into it cus this is the 80's and she's a runaway.

Next it gets revealed there's some questionable shit going on at home.

Namely, that her adoptive dad has been doing *things* to her.

Turns out, he's been charged before. Twice. First was B&E, second was attempted murder+ towards a (teen?) girl. That second one got him five years in prison. The court SAYS "this guy is definitely a danger to women. Shouldn't be around them."

All while his wife (who stays married to him btw) PROCEEDS TO TAKE THEIR 6 YEAR OLD FEMALE CHILD TO VISIT HIM IN PRISON.

(At this point I’m just waiting for the reveal that her baby sister is actually her daughter)

Every so often I get slapped in the face by how appreciative I am of my parents (who adopted me as a baby, btw) for being generally good people.

It's incredible how people have been protesting pants and skirts not having pockets but not a single peep is heard over the fact that skirts no longer have underskirts by default. Underskirts (or lining) was a thing when I was a child, no skirt would be made without lining, you didn't have to think and check if your whole ass is visible in a skirt because lining was a thing!!!! Now most skirts don't and it's simply because it's cheaper, fuck the fact that a customer doesn't want their panties shown in broad daylight, it saves a couple of cents on material.

I think it's really important to remember, audio/video recordings? They lose SO MUCH of the tones, the SOUND of what's being recorded. High notes can become more pitchy, low notes can become almost nonexistent-- as a whole the vibrations you feel from the room become nonexistent (depending on your sound system, sure, but you can't get that feeling in your chest without being there or using an amp of some sort)

I got goosebumps listening to this at some of the points. I just know if I were there in person, it would've been live that the whole damn time.
